Dugout Discussion – Man United vs Everton

Gameweek 5 concludes at Old Trafford as Manchester United’s Fantasy assets bid to end our weekend with a series of hauls.

Romelu Lukaku is undoubtedly the big draw. Still by far the top player, he remains part of 2.8 million squads and is backed by 1.4 million with the captaincy (30.1%).

However, having been the dominant captain all season, his Gameweek 5 support is at its lowest since the opening weekend of the season when he was backed by 28% of managers.

In addition, despite scoring six goals in six outings in all competitions, Lukaku’s ownership continues to slide.

The Belgian suffered a net loss of 72,000 owners ahead of Friday’s deadline and has so far been sold by another 38,000 managers before kicking a ball in Gameweek 5. Over 28,000 of those managers have made the move to Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, with the Argentine’s hat-trick putting real pressure on Lukaku today. Fail to deliver returns and sales will surely pick up pace.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan also needs to produce.

The Armenian has been the major benefactor in FPL terms from Paul Pogba’s injury, gaining more than 321,000 new owners – second only to Spurs’ Ben Davies for Gameweek 5.

But following the 11-point tally from City’s David Silva in yesterday’s 6-0 win at Watford, Mkhitaryan owners will be keen to see their man produce a return without the influence of Pogba alongside him.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Is it madness to do;

    Lukaku (sou) -> Aguero (CPL)

    And then reverse the week after

    Aguero (che) -> Lukaku (CPL)

      Not if you have no other priorities in those two weeks, not sure Lukaku blanks and Palace is a rollover next week though

      Nope not at all, as long as the rest of your team is good for the next two weeks and you're not sacrificing better transfers, think Lukaku could get points vs Southampton though

      I think having your transfers reserved like that often backfires. All you need is one injury and you won't make those moves without a hit.

    Didn't really want to use my WC until GW8 but I need to get rid of Stephens, Daniels and Redmond (2 of which will fall in price overnight) and I have also checked and Suttner & Mee will also fall in price although I like their GW6 fixtures of (NEW) and (HUD).

    A) WC
    B) 2 FT'S
    C) 3 transfers for -4

      I wouldn't panic too much, Redmond has good fixtures and Daniels may get points against Leicester. Stephens needs to go.

      Suttner and Mee have some good fixtures too, so don't worry too much about price drops.

      Not worth a WC to get rid of Stephens

        I think Pep sees Silva and KDB as his most important players. Silva started 31 games last season and came off the bench 3 times. For comparison, KDB started 33 games and came off the bench 3 times.
        The blowouts help reduce rotation as Pep has been able to sub off his key players early.

    Those planning to wildcard in GW8 in what strikeforce are you thinking on?

    Kane has Bournemouth at home in GW8 but has a tough run after till GW12.

    I'm currently looking at one out of Kane/Aguero/Jesus with Morata & Vardy.

    Appreciate your thoughts!

      I was toying with going Kun/Jesus | Morata | Vardy.

      Didn't look that closely and would require a plan to get Kane back for captain rotation. But I'm not going with 3 big hitters upfront when there are so many good midfield and WB options. Seems better value.

      I'm only playing 2 up top, Jesus/Morata and Kane until GW12 looks like an okay option, Lukaku traditionally struggled against the big sides so he's less likely to haul (especially under Mourinho) you'd think.

    I know this is as desperate as it comes... but considering a 12 point hit after a WC gone wrong. (Currently at 267 points)

    Firmino + Eriksen + Alli + Lowe > Aguero + Salah + Ritchie + Otamendi. (+0.3 itb).

    This seems extreme ditching both Eriksen and Alli without having Kane but there is just something telling me to do it.

    Would leave me with a squad looking like this:

    Foster, Elliot
    Cedric, Kolasinac, Bavies, Jones, Otamendi

    Salah, Ritchie, Carrol, Kante, Gross

    Aguero, Jesus, Lukaku.
