Dugout Discussion – Brighton vs Stoke

Gameweek 12 comes to its conclusion at the Amex Stadium this evening as Brighton entertain Stoke at 8pm.

For the hosts, Pascal Gross has been the standout asset in Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

Sitting in over 19% of FPL squads, the playmaker has averaged 7.2 points per match (ppm) in front of his own fans – when on the pitch, he’s played a part in 83% of their home goals.

Four strikes in the Seagulls’ last three league outings have brought Glenn Murray (5.8) onto our radars as a potential budget frontman – over 112,000 acquired him for Gameweek 12.

Up against a defence that has conceded at least twice in six of their last eight, Murray is the most captained player for tonight’s encounter, handed the armband by 6,868 managers compared with Gross’ 3,904 backers.

The Potters’ two most popular players, Eric Choupo-Moting (5.8%) and Xherdan Shaqiri (5.3%), have struggled on their travels, with just an away assist between them (for the latter) in five road trips.

Yet the duo’s home form means that, overall, they’ve still averaged a decent 4.0 and 4.5 ppm respectively this season. And clashes with Palace and Swansea in the next three could warrant further attention for the midfield pair.

Brighton, though, have been fairly resilient at home – league leaders Manchester City, in a 2-0 win in Gameweek 1, are the only side to have scored more than one goal away to Chris Hughton’s men.

    With the CHE and LIV great fixtures coming, is it worth dropping Kane?
    Moreover due to the LIV midfielders I think a 451 could potentially be gold for the upcoming weeks (with Morata in front).

      You could even get Hazard instead of Zaha if you're willing to go for a budget keeper.

      He's not worth the outlay. If you don't have a Chelsea defender then Christensen is a good punt. Or see if there's another United defender within that budget.

        Thanks! I am actually playing 2 players between Richarlison + Gross + 3rd stiker, so am flexible between 3-5-2 and 3-4-3 depending on form/fixtures... so I guess Wilson a better bet!

        But then with the Niasse savings I could upgrade Sterling to a Couthino for example

          I'd personally go Wilson. He is a proven goalscorer, if you look at the past few seasons, has just been unlucky with injuries. Everton are still a mess.

          If you can really use the extra 1mil then go for Niasse but I reckon Wilson will get a few more goals in the next 4.

    One of the downside is the possibility of getting heavy hitte upfront.

      Not the best.

      I'm keeping Kane but I can understand why people are downgrading him and putting £ elsewhere.

      But why would you have Wilson & Niasse? Thats a bit risky & means you're going to struggle to get a heavy hitter back in.

      Personally I suggest picking one Chelsea asset and upgrading your 3rd striker. Lukaku probably the best option after United play City.

    Been a strange couple of FPL weeks, jumped from 89k to 26k (61pts & 75 pts in the 2 GW's) which is brilliant but have had Kane captain (Salah vc 🙁 ) for both weeks so feel I could be doing even better which is kind of greedy right.

          I think you could be onto something boys.....although I do fancy a nice 5 man midfield, i don't fancy any of the cheap FW's. Maybe best to save FT and reassess in a week anyway. Cheers!

      save transfer and then use 2 FTs, keep Kun this week and reassess after Huds. you should just about get 11 starters.

      then with the 2 FTs could do Kun to cheapie (wilson / Niasse ) and upgrade Carroll to Sane / Cout / Pog and play 3-5-2

    Is it a good idea to drop Richarlison over MUTD SPURS and BUR for Pogba and retrieve later for Zaha (this is if I don't get Kane for Laca)?
    I bought him for 6.0 as well, if he does well vs Newcastle and blanks the following three I may just get him for the same money I sell him for (6.3).

          There will be a lot. But it's more important to have stronger first team players imo. That 3rd sub is gonna get you maybe 10 points over the season. A better XI should get you more

      It looks like he'll be playing at least some of the time in current form. And with a 4/5th defender it's fine I think. He's more likely to play than a bench fodder defender and more likely to perform than a bench fodder midfielder

      That’s part of it but no travel time and also familiarity with your surroundings probably has a factor. I think I remember Thierry Henry saying at Highbury he knew where and how to time his runs and hold his position in relation to the placement of specific advertisement hoardings, which is quite interesting.
