FFS Cup

Paddy Power Cup V – The Last 16

A few weeks back, over 2200 registered and now we are down to the last 16 of the Paddy Power Cup V. They’ve come through seven stages and are two victories away from playing for a prize. The draw for the next round has been and looks a lot like this…

1RaasclartVs.Mr Bungle
2mendersVs.CSKA AWFUL
3NattVs.Declan
4Der-Hammer95Vs.Sc8tt26
5soulman27Vs.runty
6ChickenDevilVs.Timmy Loving
7VereWinnerVs.sleepingmaster
8Bruce BaerVs.Funkyav

Top-seed, and 181st in the world, Der-Hammer95 has a tough assignment against 1,241st overall Sc8tt26. Of course at this stage of the competition there’s no easy games. In fact, there are only two teams with less than 1,000 points.

As luck would have it, those two Fantasy managers yet to hit four-digits have been matched together. 250k in the world VereWinner takes on 127k in the world sleepingmaster.

Last week’s top-scorer, Mr Bungle, once again finds himself as the away team in the first fixture of the round. There’s obviously no disadvantage to coming out of the hat second, and Mr Bungle actually has the effective lead going into his game with Raasclart. The 83 points between them means the ‘visitors’ will go through with a draw.

All ties will be played over the upcoming Gameweek 19, good luck to all!

Please note – with such a short turnaround from Gameweek 19 to Gameweek 20, we’ve made the decision to postpone the Quarter-Finals until Gameweek 21. This will ensure that the draw can be made and published well in advance of any deadline – it will also remove the double gameweek fixtures as a factor and bring the January wildcard into play for the last eight.

AVB has said before Sturridge is a RWer so unless he plays him CF I don't see how it would work. Hulk is a futhamucking beast though, and won't be cheap. New transfer recored you think? And it will be us again 🙁 What if he's a flop???! ...nah... can't be, AVB is buying him.

That will ruin the team. I don't like that approach honestly. I would like us to be longterm team, Thinkgs like Romeu, Lukaku, McEachran, Sturridge players like Mata now and then. VdW is shit I have Dutch friends, Moutinho hmmm, how old is he, well Hulk if he puts Sturridge to the bench I don't want him!

first order of business post-dgw, jags out->cahill in. He should be with Chelsea by the 14th from what Im reading. Bolton want to sell fast to have time to use funds for the rest of the window. Nailed on Chelsea defender for 5.2 with attacking potential? 2nd half keeper. Not groundbreaking insight, but Im excited to get the jump on the casuals.

Of course I love the idea of getting back at all the GW1 managers who started with cahill when the fixtures begged for it to be a bad move, and got rewarded. Problem is, several of those teams are dead, and will still have cahill starting for them!!! Pffft!!!! Cahill would probably be 5.0 or less if those teams were active. Still over 18% ownership.

He will be if he goes, Cahill + Terry (who will probably be banned)
I doubt he would go to Chelsea if he won't be getting a start, and I feel Luiz would be a better holding midfielder.

I'm not saying he wont play, but I just think with Luiz, Ivanovic and Terry (albeit with the prospect of being banned) to compete with, who are all world class defenders he must be prone to rotation. Although, I concede Ivanovic Cahill Terry Cole as a back four with Luiz holding midfielder is a possibility. If Terry is banned, Iva to CB and Bos to RB.

I'd swap Raylor for a TOT defender, BAE at 5.3.

How should I do my Newc/Swans defence for this week? (Asumming Naylor plays)

    A) Vorm + Naylor
    B) Vorm + Simpson
    C) Krul + Naylor

Tending towards B right now. Then again, I could field Moses at Stoke ahead of either Naylor or Simpson.

Any Royal subjects out there want to explain your people's obsession with darts? Just watched highlights on Sky. What I love the most about the sport (game?) is the raucous (and thoroughly inebriated) crowd shouting DURING the throws. Hardcore. I swear, this guy started pumping up the crowd the moment his opponent was about to release his dart. Love it.

Not good, Ba is the only player on Newcastle that has a form better than 3.6 (7.2). Yes, the fixtures aren't good and Ade has good fixtures and a double coming up. But throwing away Newcastle's greatest goal threat long term isn't the right move. I would look at your other two forwards, unless one of them is RVP.

      I'd honesly drop Silva, amazingly..
Luckily I have all 4 and don't need to worry about this, but Nani has form and fixtures, Mata has a brilliant avg at home and some good fixtures, Silva probably has the weakest fixtures, and although it's nice to own him, it won't hurt too much not owning him

Goal of the year candidates on SSN.

    Morrison vs Man U (volley)
Rooney vs Man City (overhead kick)
    Beckford vs Chelsea (fluke)
Modric vs Liverpool (top corner strike)
    Ryan Taylor vs Everton (volley)
    Glen Johnson vs Chelsea (fluke)
Leroy Lita vs Blackburn (brilliant team goal and header)
    RVP vs Everton (sumptous volley)

I'd go for Rooney vs Man City.

Anyone think this Evans situation is a bit fishy.. Got a yellow card and injured in first half, yet played till half time.. without a proper prognosis Ferguson mentioned he may be out for a forthnight just after the game.. then no news whatsoever for 4 days.. then smalling ruled out for 6 weeks leavin just jones as a proper CB atm.. imo evans'll be back sooner than expected

Both Jones and Chicharito were 'out for 6 weeks' and came back within 2, Evans could easily be back this week, all Ferguson has said was that he is looking at around 2 weeks, but that was after the match when he probably wouldn't have had a clue.

why do you say drop nani over him? i have exactly enough funds to take out walters but planning on keeping him and silva as they have done me well and dont want to lose a ton of money buying them back. what are the odds that valencia plays at rb again though? and either way will most likely drop him and nani next week for bale and vdv

id prefer to drop silva, but if you only one utd mid for whatever reason, id keep valencia and bring bale in for nani next week. However if you have exactly enough to bring bale in for walters for GW20, sounds good to me. Dont sweat the value. Valencia still getting the crosses in.

so you suggest keeping both valencia and nani this week and then get bale in next? initially that was my plan but worried bale will burn me again by doing well plus opponenet in fantasy cup has him.

i could bring bale in for walters but looking ahead stoke have pretty good fixtures while united face a tough run. thinking of nani valencia and shelvey out for bale vdv and osman/drenth for a hit. will probably get nani in later once his fixtures get better or maybe even on the wc. so im debating whether to ditch one of nani/valencia this week to get bale now and do the other two transfers next week or do all three next week
