Season Predictions 2012/13 – View From The Scouts

Over the last week or so the Fantasy Football Scout fold have been sharing our innermost thoughts with regards to some of the most “Burning Questions” ahead of the new campaign. To accompany our views there, here’s our annual quick-fire round of predictions, where we let you know the players each of us are tipping to shine in a new season…

As our entry from last year will show you we’re prone to making the odd mistake (or seven). Steve Kean, eh? Who would have thought he would still be in a job. Even after he got Blackburn relegated, as half of us rightly predicted.

Here follows our thoughts on the year ahead. Soak it in and then join the discussion and offer your thoughts and counter-comments down below.

Andy, that’s my good self, kicks things off for 2012/13 with what is no doubt a bit of a fancy for one player in particular. And it’s not even Gylfi Sigurdsson. This is almost partisan from our resident all-rounder.

Second out of the traps is Big Dunc. One of two Everton fans on the Scout payroll our resident toffee can’t help but get a little bit excited at the prospects of his club. Is he mad? We’ll find out by May.

Having signed mid-way through last Stilicho gets his first Scout attempt to show everyone just how prophetic he is. His opinions on Norwich pretty much separate this gent from everyone else involved so he’s either a mad heretic or the one we should all be looking to in the future.

Granville gets a weekly platform on the Scoutcast to discuss and debate with Mark on all things Fantasy Football related. In this post he has, perhaps unsurprisingly, decided to pick some answers from the red side of Manchester. What’s more surprising is that we can see some light blue too.

Also having his first dabble at infamy is Jonty. With no Premier League allegiances for this Brighton fan, his picks can come untainted by any frivolous behaviour. He wisely agreed with me about a certain West Brom player.

Anorak may be our resident specialist when it comes to the men in black but he also likes to think he can be a dab hand at Fantasy football too. As far as top goalscorer predictions, he marks himself out as the black sheep of the Scout fraternity by being the only one not to tow the party line.

Mark The guv’nor brings up the rear and clearly has a problem with Swansea’s prospects, whilst talking up that Southampton mob. Mark backed Grant Holt last season and, similarly, he’s going with Rickie Lambert to turn up with a similar goal spree. Oh, and he still fancies Leighton Baines. Must be the haircut or the record collection.

so it sounds like most people think aguero will be highest scoring player. so would you rather have:

    tevez+cazorla OR aguero+pienaar?

i already have michu. i just have a better feeling with tevez and cazorla. even if tevez gets 30-50 less pts than aguero, i think that the 2.5 mill spent elsewhere could make up for it

          +1

although i severely doubt the gap would be that much. I imagine 20 points between them at best. Most goals Aguero scores, will probably be setup by Tevez, but I doubt it will work the other way around as often. Tevez will score, but not from any Aguero assists....

    hi guys
yet again i am in desperate need of guidance and input,
    here is my current team
    Hart, Gazzaniga
    Vidic,Ferdinand(manu), Zab,Jose E (Clyne)
    Bale,Michu,Allen,(Pienar, El Ahmadi)
    Torres,Tevez,Poldolski
advice on how to better my team that would be appreciated, i’d also be much more obliged if you backed up your answer but all serious input will be considered

Yet again I respond for the 3rd time! I didn't do so bad last year so I may know what I am taklking about...

Seriously think about where your cash is….you’ve rammed it in defence and upfront….your mids are pants.

United conceed 1 goal and you’ll be screwed for points coming from your defence, spread the risk….Get a chelsea player in for the DOUBLE GAMEWEEK. Michu is unproven, allen is a link up man and wont get many assists or goals look at last years stats….plus will they play. Your attack is too top heavy!

u didn't do well last year....
i have no tie to any club therefore i am objective.
        i see where CSs are,
        Man U, Man City, L'Pool
        in that order,
        MIDs is because
i like the value there, Allen i see a lot of 3 pointers for him (the odd assist/goal maybe 4 goals and 7 assists)
Michu scores goals and is cheap
Pienar is amazing per minute scoring
and bale is the only top liner worth investing in straight away imo
U did pretty well Last season, in that case i did pretty well and my opinioun is as worthy as urs,
and myne is until u present option that doesn't include a shakey Chels def and a non nailed on DDG i don't see any reason for a change

        Mr Plainview
ur theory is too change my entire team,
all u've said was a team that i should invest in, didn't name a player or how they differ from what i've got.
AND u took an Arrogant and condencending tone,
i replied to your posts twice politely and said i would consider it but i felt strongly about having a solid double Manchester def.
but, it seems as though u continued to post the same thing over and over when i was looking for people to give me something else

Personally I wouldn't spend that much in defence but it's a lovely team nonetheless.

Allen will play quite deep so Ireland might be a better punt for the same money. Same guaranteed starts plus attacking minded player, could catch fire under Lambert (and most of the scouts agree that Villa will over-perform).

Can't decide whether or not to gamble on DDG and have a cheap sub. That 0.5m will really help improve my defence. Comments would be appreciated!

      A. DDG, Federici, Hangeland, Ryan Bennett & Demel

      B. DDG, 4.0m, Hangeland, Fabio & Demel

      C. DDG, Federici, Hughes, Fabio & Demel

Other defenders are Zab & Cuellar

Gotta really look at Clyne, Pearce (or other Reading) or Bennett.

        There isn't really anybody else.

Impossible to say right now. If Marveaux or Kankles manage to secure starting places then it will definitely be one of them. But that seems a little unlikely.

El Ahmadi will start every week but will score only 1 or 2 goals.
I must have missed a conversation because suddenly everyone's dropping Guthrie like a leaky bag of turds

I have Marveaux but I probably won't keep him for very long. He will fill in for Ben Arfa so will definitely play GW1, maybe GW2. After that he may well not play much at all.

Sick of mucking about. What do you think

      DDG

      Demel - Hangeland - Gorkss

      Bale - Mata - Toure - Michu

      Torres - Tevez - Aguero

      (Fabio - R Bennett - Kacaniklic)

Nothing in bank but would get rid of Mata to free up funds for Roon/RvP come week 3

      My team as it stands:

      Fed (Ruddy)
Turner – Fabio – Cole (Williams, Clyne)
Silva – Hazard (c) – Mata (vc) – McAnuff (Nolan)
      Pog – P.Cisse – Aguero

      Any suggestions?

P.S considering Bosingwa, Noble, Garrido and possibly Michu and Segegnon might wait and see with him.

also Cole and McAnuff will be transfered in next 2 gw so that I have no Chelsea or Reading in starting XI

need some more opinions on this.

so it sounds like most people think aguero will be highest scoring player. so would you rather have:

      tevez+cazorla OR aguero+pienaar?
