FPL Gameweek 6 Update

As many of you will have seen this morning, some of the bonus points from last weekend’s games have been altered in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game. The reason for this was that the Press Association tracking data crashed in the second half in the middle of Saturday’s games – as a result, that they have had to re-watch all of the matches that took place that day and subsequently adjust any affected fixtures.

Going on the spreadsheet I have in front of me, it appears the following games will be altered:

Fulham v Man City
John Arne Riise will now get the maximum bonus. Carlos Tevez keeps his two and David Silva receives one. Previously, Silva had three and Gael Clichy picked up one but Riise has now been attributed with 5 blocks, raising his PPI score significantly.

Stoke v Swansea
The only change here is that Jon Walters and Charlie Adam now pick up a single bonus point apiece instead of Asmir Begovic. Initially, Begovic had received bonus despite making just two saves – this has been rectified.

Sunderland v Wigan
James McClean no longer has bonus points in this one. Previously, the winger had been awarded two – this now goes to Stephane Sessegnon, who had received a single BP beforehand. As a result, Adam Johnson now gets the single bonus point.

The correct data was only forwarded to FPL this morning but the recalculations are now underway and we can hopefully expect autosubs to be sorted soon.

Just a heads-up, folks….

Yeah, but I feel Pool will be a different beast at home this year with Rogers actually forming some kind of organisation. I think his work is finally coming to fruition and the fixtures are easing for him.

I do think Fletcher might get something this week, but I don't think he'll outscore Suarez. Although you are right in that the transfer is definitely not worth a hit :).

Not so. Fletcher is likely to score against City in my opinion due to pretty shocking defending. Lescott down might be a good option, maybe Gibbs?

Ok tks for the views. If I am not going to do another transfer I might as well bank the Ft this week. Lescott might play and he is a goal threat. I will have more options with the 2 FT next game week.

Podolski, 4 goals and assist in 8 games (all comps). That is after a run of torrid games to start the season.

Could be one to sneak under the radar with a good run now. I have him, the goal last night soothed the trigger finger.

He plays on the left, but that is his best position and he has a great strike rate throughout his career. Better player and in a better team then Fletcher, Jelavic and Berba I dare suggest.

Maybe even Ba, if Pod gets going (better rounded game and will get more chances one would think, unless Newcastle start creating more).

Do you realize that Podolski has less shots on goal this season than Ba has goals?

The man plays as a winger, so is not worth the money at all.

Id say he plays Inside forward if anything. Not that Arse wingers tend to under produce..

I have Ba, backed him from GW3 but 9 shots on target this year, 6 goals is not sustainable.

Neither is Pod's stats great, but you can see upside there in that Arse team. If Pod gets the same amount of chances as say other wingers have in previous years, you'd fancy him to stick them away at a good rate.

E.g. He is getting allot of mins and is certainly a better finisher then Walcott, who scores well when he plays.

Podolski would be a good option if classified as a winger. On the note of Ba- the man is going at the same rate as he played last year when used as the main striker and he continued that for a half a season.

6/9, don't think any player has really ever sustained those numbers long term?

He is definitely one of the best finishers in the league, but I really doubt he will sustain that. Even RVP falls short of that strike rate to chances.

I calculated Bas conversion rate from the first half of last season up to the time that Cisse came into the team and Ba was pushed to the wing. And it was idendical to the one he has now approx 3.2 shots per game/ 4 shots per goal

That is a crazy rate. If he keeps that up for a full season, my word. I really like him as an FPL option and was pushing him for a while there back in GW3. I think he is closer to a 9.5/10m value player then his starting price of 7.5.

That strike rate would suggest bar injury/rotation/moved to wing he will hit over 20 goals!

He is my favorite for the Golden boot- with many of the big players sharing goals ( ROoney/RVP) (Aguero /Tevez)

But this is just my personal opinion- have not seen many so bullish on him.

In fairness to Arsenal, they have had one easy game and they absolutely shoe horned SOU. You'd have to think with the easier fixtures, more chances will come his way, and thus goals.

40% ish finish rate in his career iirc. Imo the gunners will create chances, and if enough fall to him he can finish up there with the best of them.

Course I do take the point, so far the stats have not being great (bar the goals and assist).

But I think he may bring more upside then allot of alternatives. Deserves to be on the watchlist ahead of the likes of Pog, Carroll and Torres at least (imo) 🙂

It's very rare that a play who is POO is worth having. In fact in the 2 years I've played this game I can't think of a single player who is classed as a striker playing on the wing that has been a consistently good pick.

Keeper situation is annoying I can see but don't waste a trasfer on it - Howard can play every week for a while. Morrison is a great option for this week so don't ditch him. I'd save and have 2 FT next week - if no issues arise get Foster and Begovic for Howard and Davis.

I think it was APPLEBONKERS or Attila the Bum that pointed out a certain line can spread like a virus on this site. This causing people not to get a player or to definitely get a player.

Whilst I completely agree with that, people should not lose sight of said player altogether.

E.g. Mata is playing the Modric role, he'll just assist the assister now, everyone on the Hazard-Wagon.

Try not to let lines like this dissuade you from anyone, keep watching MOTD and games at the weekend to keep an eye on players positions.

True - the missing factor in the Hazard/Mata issue was Lampard. When Fatty was running on into the box Mata had to check himself slightly more, now he has a stable pivot behind him (and Oscar seems to put in a proper shift as well) he's been given much more license to stay further forward.

Soooo true, and people getting on the Mata bandwagon seem to miss the likeliness of Lamps playing against weaker opponents- where the majority of points are. In my opinion.

I think the problem is mainly due to the increased volume of visitors, which I guess you can't complain about because good for Mark and the team, hopefully they're doing well out of it. But the sheer volume of posts just drowns out the "good" posts at times, and that in turn probably discourages some of the old skool from posting.

I feel like a grumpy old man quite a lot when I come on the site these days, pining for the good old days, but there are still plenty of decent posters about.

Perhaps posters should be given some for of rating in terms of the quality of their posts. For example something next to Demi's name which make's it clear to all that his team info is very reliable. That way people are directed to the best source of info.

It's why I very rarely voice an opinion on one player over another - I'm much more inclined to offer stats/factors which influence my own decision making. Too many people take opinions as facts and these things snowball. Every now and again I get off my arse and do some research to try to counter the latest viral opinion, pissing in the wind mostly though.

I suppose it depends what that opinion consists of, how it's put across and how informed it is. We all benefit from informed opinions being voiced with suitable disclaimers, it's the "I always know best" brigade who are dangerous.

You lost me after "Stoke is very good". Stoke is a rugby side. Ugly football. Theyre hard to face i`ll give them that, but i think we`ll outplay them on home grounds. Expecting Suarez and Gerrard to play a part tonight, possibly around an hour for Stevie. Suarez might play 90, hes young and restitutes well.

    Technical transfer query:

On a WC...I had Michu from the start (6.5) and he is now priced at 7.3 but due to drop tonight.

I want to keep him for the next 2 games and then probably sell him, so can I check my logic...I am going to sell him today (6.9) and then buy him back before the deadline at 7.2.

This is the best way to go?

I don't think that's true. I think it depends on whether he keeps dropping for the next two weeks or not. If he does keep dropping, then he loses out. But if his price stabilises at 7.2 then this way.

But my head hurts a little from thinking about this so I may be wrong.

I think the plan is to liquidate the profit while it's at the max and spread around his team. He then gets Michu at 7.2 and sells again for 7.2 in 2 weeks.

The risk is that he keeps dropping and then he might actually lose out in the long term.

All depends on whether you will have the funds for everything else you want to do. If he does nothing in the next two weeks, you can be sure he will be sold in droves, so it's hard to say.

Even short-term Gervinho is on 13 shots, 3 on target, 3 goals. Playing central doesn't seem to have helped him much in terms of production, and I don't expect him to keep his place for very long with Walcott and Giroud getting a shot at the centre too. His stats are most similar to someone like Walters and Dyer.

Cazorla on the other hand has more chances created than any other midfielder in the game. Fantasy gold.

I tend to disagree. Gervinho seems to be the only one scoring goals for them, and he`s a midfielder playing as a part of the front 3 for a very attacking team. Cazorla on the other hand so far has created alot, but as mentioned Arsenal dont really score too much yet, and Cazorla has been plenty wasteful himself. In conclusion i would go for Gervinho now, and monitor Cazorla going forward. £2m is a lot of money to bind up for essentially the same caliber of player, FPL wise.

People are stupid, pay no attention to it. If you have Michu and are transferring him out now before READING/WIGAN, then you clearly are not well equipped to play this game. I would think people have more urgent transfers to make.

You're in a similar position as me, except I'm on 2 frees. I am thinking about just upgrading my defense and having 2 frees for next GW.

Ryan Shawcross has been called up to the England squad. In other news, numerous members of the San Marino squad have undergone emergency adamantium shin reinforcement surgery ahead of the international break.

On 2 frees with 1.5 in the bank.

    Bego - Foster

    Cuellar - Demel - Gibbs - Nelsen - McAuley

    Hazard - Pienaar - Cazorla - Michu - Sterling

    RVP - Tevez - Fletcher

    Which option looks best?

    A) Tevez > Suarez
    B) Tevez > Suarez, Hazard > Bale
    C) Pienaar > Bale, Tevez > Defoe
    D) Use 1 free to upgrade defense and use 2 frees next GW.

Anyone fancy Wisdom at Liverpool? Very cheap and looked very lively against Norwich.

I would, except Liverpool are making too many personal errors at the back atm. Skrtel and Reina have singlehandedly caused 5-6 goals so far this season (all games incluced), so until the can pick up the concentration at the back, im staying clear. Wisdom is a good shout though, even though i think he perhaps should be cheaper. Boy has a good header on him and can be dangerous on set pieces

That would be nice wouldn't it? I've been watching that for a while and sadly it doesn't look like it. I think everyone who still has him is either a ghostship or knows he'll be back soon enough.

If I get RVP out for Ba i could do:

      Pienaar > Bale
      Michu > Mata
Taylor > Sagna (when he returns)

Thinking about this next week. Do people think is better for the long term and will get more points?

      cheers

Selling Michu is a bit premature I think. Not just because of the fixtures, but because in past weeks when he has got blanks, watching him on MOTD still shows how dangerous he is. He still took lots of shots, and looked too good to get rotated at all.

But again, because of the sensitive price changes, again people's hands are being forced.
