The Numbers Game – Festive Form – Defenders

Continuing our round-up of the Christmas period, it’s time to treat our members to a series of articles which examines each of the positions and analyses the form of the key protagonists over the past four Gameweeks. We start in defence, by casting an eye over the top tens for our ICT Index, plus a more in-depth look at the main performers in terms of goal threat and creativity….

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Is an 8 pointer to get Turnbull, Lambert and Pienaar for Bunn, Rodallega and Morrison worth it.
Then WC in GW24? Can get Walcott next GW for free.

    Turnbull (Bego)

I only had Puncheon. Plus Olsson dropping, Cuellar and O'Brien possibly injured. I think I can stick broadly to what I was planning with my post-GW23 plan but also rope in some Chelsea cover which looks fairly essential.

There's the argument that you can use it to adapt to any transfer window changes I guess, but I dot quite buy that as it normally takes a few weeks to see how they bed in, plus there may not actually be that many major moves.

Overall I think I've made the right call.

Yeah Jonny new signings usually disappoint in fpl terms. I'd just like to be able to set up for the season with it and not sure I'd want to be swamped with Chelsea, Arsenal, West ham and Southampton. Good luck mate. You got a draft to post?

Maybe with that one you can do Cuellar->Azpi if he's injured. I don't think you need improvement up front. And it's probably best not to go for hits as you can't afford big Chelsea defenders. I kinda got lost.

Probably right. I have the other WC saved also so could do a mass clear out in GW24, but am swaying towards saving it for hopefully more DGWs later in the season. Whatcha reckon?

i reckon you should save the second one for a more productive dgw. you can still get good coverage without much clean up to do.

well I thought about this...effectively though you'll want to do a transfer at some point in the future to ship one of them unless you can hang on until your second WC

I've turned Beg in to Jaask. I'll put it back with my other w/c down the road but with save points and potential cleanie vs QPR he could be a decent shout.

Ivan and Luiz for being nailed on + potential attacking points + potential cleanies. Mata is obvious. Hazard seems a bit risky, but could pay off.

It would take 2 CS for Chelsea to compensate the hit, otherwise you'd get 2+2 with 1 CS or -2+2 with no CS. Very unlikely to happen but you never know.

So, Ba scored a hat-trick away at Stoke last year. And he's at home to a leaky SOT defence without their main CB. Getting harder to resist him by the minute.

Nah, he'll play some for sure.

Looking at their fixtures, Torres will probably play in the Carling semi final on Wed, then Ba at Stoke, and then maybe Torres again at home to SOT. Hmm. Although, Rafa has hinted he may play them both together.

Why ? I've got BA plus Rvp and Suarez. If he was still at newscatle then fair enough as he was nailed on including pens. He's way too expensive to be on the bench

My current front 3 is RVP--Suarez--Berba and its served me very well the last few GWs. If i was to WC my front 3 would likely become RVP--Tevez--Lambert. Suarez and Berba's fixtures may not be great but my WC attack isn't inspiring. It's the main thing stopping me click the button. Stick or twist?

I'm thinking of doing Aguero > Lambert but is there any other strikers I should be looking at? Feels a bit forced because of the DGW...still think Lambert is the player to have for Southampton.

That would be Suarez then? The obvious other choice if you're pursuing a big front 3 strategy.

I think it's fair enough to put normality on hold for the 2 dgws and Lambert is the obvious choice since you have Ba. It's next week's that's tricky: Poldi / Giroud / that new Brazilian WH are rumoured to be signing / The Mighty Carlton Cole.
