The ScoutCast – Episode Ninety Five – Rush

Rush. The best form of goalkeepers for the playground. A long-haired Canadian prog-rock outfit. A mustachioed goal sniffer and, sadly, a description of how Granville and myself had to approach this latest episode of the podcast.

With our studio slot limited, we had to skinny things up and turn this one out double-time. Nonetheless, in 26-minutes, we touched on all the regulars, whilst scattering the silence in between with the usual sniping between the pair of us. It makes you wonder what we waste the other twenty minutes on every week.

Not to worry. Enjoy what you can of this little taster and look ahead to next week’s full-fat return, when we’re planning a new feature and a new voice.

Grab this fast-food snack via this link, or stream the quick chat via the player below….

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      1) Demel
      2) Tomkins
      3) Potts

In order of short term & long term viability.

O'Brien will return to relegate POTTS to fantasy obscurity but if you have a wildcard and only 3.9m to spend you could always get rid of Potts and hope O'Brien misses both matches. Demel the best option as he got a rest at Old Trafford and is nailed on for 2 games. Also provides nice crossing from the RB role.

      Is WC available?
C - Bunn for Tremmel. Downgrade Johnson, Cahill and Shawcross. Stoke are conceding so you're getting doubledip with Shawcross and begovic. Wait until you're sure Cahill is nailed-on before getting him. Think there's better value than Glenner. Gibbs, Davies and others are alternatives in defence. With savings in defence upgrade Routledge, not sure bout having him and Michu together but Routledge is doing great for his price. Lose Torres for Ba, Lambert, Berbatov, keep and eye on Remy.

        yea its available

its ba btw not torres, i swapped them last week before the dgw

I've put together a draft WC team if i was to use it now

        Begovic - Bunn
        Gibbs - Davies - Demel - Clyne - Pearce/R.Martin
        Mata - Walcott - Cazorla - Michu - Puncheon/Maloney
        RVP - Aguero - Sturridge

Is it worth using wc or taking a hit 2 get in 2 players just for the week before I use my wc the next week

I am thinking of bringing in Wilshere, which needs me to do Collins to Demel [-4] to afford it (unless I swap Bale out for him for no hit)

Kind of need to get rid of Collins anyway, but he aint dropping so could wait and do 2FT next week,

Wilshere was tasty last night though Isacki - he was all over the 2nd half - easy MotM pick.

Ah I've been meaning to ask you how you found the game, I watched the second half, reportedly when the play got better! You guys defended incredibly stubbornly again, the number of chances we created was ironically higher than the first match though, I thought, but we just couldn't blast it in until Jacky boy took matters into his own hands.

Was it a good game as a fan? I was so grateful to Jack winning it late on and seeing him do the slide at the corner flag. Majestic.

Also do you think the swans will kick on in the league with one cup commitment off their shoulders?

The first half was pretty turgid it has to be said. Best chance was to Swans off the bar..

Second half was a different game. It was like Vorm was using Jedi skills to keep the ball out on a few occasions. Walcott just didn't do it - there was a lot of running out of steam in amongst the defenders. Arsenal were really poor in first half and even though they probably had 60% possession Swansea looked more likely to score. Some bad defending errors losing possession etc... Wilshere was great, but when close to target was just passing it to someone else... it was great when he finally decided he had better just take the shot himself and it was a glorious goal - shame on poor Vorm who had been good candidate for MotM until then.

Swansea fielded a team with a couple of players I had never heard of. Was nice to see Michu come on finally, but they didn;t get the ball to him though there were a couple of times when he was in beautiful space begging for it.

I really enjoyed it - had a great seat end of aisle next to press box, centre line on lower tier, .In half time I wandered all the way up to the very top of the stadium and the view up there is IMMENSE. Its going to be hard giving my friend his season ticket back for the WHU game next Wednesday 🙁

That sounds like a great experience. I've not been to the emirates a heck of a lot but one experience that sticks in my mind was going to watch a Brazil v Portugal friendly (mix of 1st and 2nd team players) back around 2007 I think, early days. Huge stadium, great football. I see it whenever I go back home to Cambridge on the train.

Okey dokes... my crazy thought of the week:

Arsenal might well draw a blank at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea have been solid defensively of recent (Soton game aside). They will put a couple past West Ham one would assume. My point is that the double might fail... and ready to step up for a brace, an assist and 3 baps is none other than...

    Gareth Bale (armband)!!

    Any takers?

Depends on which united turn up. Bale kills teams that attack too much and leave space for him to run at defenders. The protection from midfield is key. I think that's why he does better away than home, he loves the counterattack. If united do what they did at old trafford and attack with a 4-2-3-1 lacking destroyers in central midfield, he will expose the defenders. But I see it as much likelier that they do what they have most of the season against attacking teams - play a tight 4-4-2 and counterattack themselves. That doesn't help bale.
