FFS Cup

FFS Paddy Power Members Cup III – First Round Draw

With Gameweek 25’s matches providing the qualifying round for the third Paddy Power Members Cup, we can now reveal who has made it through, together with the draw for the first round.

A high bar was set, with 66 points required for qualification: those with 65 points progressed depending on rank. The standard was strong enough to see the winner of our open Paddy Power Cup, Wild Rover, eliminated on 62 points. He’ll be waiting for the last eight in this year’s FFS Shield, however. World number four, The Game, also went out with 61 points.

The first round draw features an array of familiar names from the community with some standout on ties on offer. Milanista’s clash with the high-flying Evs and Bouncebackability’s meeting with RoysCallerAnne are just two of the match-ups that catch the eye. With former winners Fuzzy Dunlop and Kippax Kikkers both safely nestled in the first round, it’s a quality field, with competition likely to be fierce as the rounds tick by.

The first round ties will be played out over Gameweek 26 – starting this weekend and concluding with Liverpool’s clash with Swansea a week on Sunday. Good luck to all those involved.

So, Lampard to United for a 2 year contract, I'd really like that, together with Begovic en Bale some good transfers to be best of Europe next season.

Cant see Bale moving to United, never mind United paying the £4-500m that Spurs would demand for him. Especially when they have a ton of wingers already.

The longer I can stay in the FFS Members Cup, the longer the urge to do early transfers will disappear...

As I would need to track my opponent and then make the required transfer...

+1. Make the transfers you think are the best based on the fixtures. Playing after others is a recipe for disaster as youll always be a step behind.

My DGW players are Reina, Davies, Michu, Sturridge.

    No free transfers left.

Is Zabaleta to Enrique worth a hit?

I've got Bertrand and Guthrie in my team as well so got a feeling I'd have to do another 4 point hit next week to field 11.

So I'm leaning towards just 3 outfield DGW players. Sensible thing to do?

Sounds sensible. You could probably justify a hit if it were Suarez, Sturridge or Gerrard (or even Michu)

Nah, keep Zaba. You`d need Enrique to clear some serious points since you have to take another hit next week to field 11. Probably like 1cs + assist + bonus atleast, and thats before you account in what Zabaleta might get you. Away to Soton he might score something.

I don't think he's worth a hit personally, unless you'd prefer him long term over Zabs, which I doubt is the case

I'd say 3 or 4 is sensible but it all depends on what you can field the following GW

Is being university educated something you actually brag about? Some people have degrees in drama or media studies. Or have a crappy degree from a crappy university. Hardly worthy of bragging about.

And I have no idea what a jackhammer is but I'd guess there are quotes about your type in In Bruges.

Such a simplified way at looking at things. Usually the first few generation of immigrants experience the worst social economic conditions which does result in increased crime, but to say religion is connected with the issue is absurd.

I'm definitely no fan of the Abrahamic religions, but it just sounds like you're trying to stir something up here, tarring certain groups of people all with the same brush. Take your hate elsewhere. This is for FPL, not a forum for such a sensitive and extremely complicated subject to discuss frivolously. I'm sure you'll find plenty of BNP/EDL/et cetera, ad nauseum, forums on the net where you can debate this to your heart's content.

Thats not the point. The point is that people who are allowed to immigrate to another country should be thankful instead of disrespectful and performing criminial activities. Its a case of a few ruining for the many, i agree with that, the issue still stands.

I think its equally absurd to rule out that it doesnt. The way people are brought up and the cultures they were raised in obviously mold their values and then they move to an entirely different culture where totally different things go. No offence, but i think its pretty ignorant to just say that none of the problems with immigrants are related to religion.

Very true. First generation immigrants do have it tough as a result of the cultural clash. After a few more generations things will work themselves out.

"violent crime has tripled in 20 years and Muslims are responsible for 70% of it"

I'll have 50 quid on this 'statistic' being wrung out of something completely different.

Like: Muslims are *involved* (both victims and perps) in 70% *of the rise* in violent crime. Completely ignoring socio-economic profiling and the fact that economic collapse is always accompanied by a rise in violent crime.

And wtf Islam has to do with it... I bet 70% of those involved were meat eaters too. Or football fans.

There – I got it back on topic 🙂

Was just thinking about hits, and the theory of 'spending' points, rather than viewing it as taking a hit.

For example, if I were to have a much better week than my ML rivals this week, and for example got 8 points more than the closest score to me, I would probably spend it on taking an 8 point hit to make sure my team for the week after was as good as it could be - without relying on Guthrie to play to even have XI.

I have the same dilemma on GW 27, I'm not going to catch the leader but I'm 62 pts clear in my ML so I'm thinking squandering the 12 points to long term strengthen the team but going to wait after the DGW as he has Suarez, Michu and whoever he brings in but I already have Michu, Gerrard, Davies and Sturridge without and hits but I'm a bit wary first of Suarez ability to knock in a captained hatrick but he'll be wary on Sturridge 🙂

Obviously, it's only best to take a hit when you feel it will benefit your points total, somewhere along the line.

I think I might just assess everything after the DGW, and if I think my team needs a couple of transfers, I'll do it.

I wouldnt have Fellaini near a dream team in the PL. He demands too much of a setup to be effective, imo. These last few seasons he`s been decent, but nothing special. Now theyve changed pretty much how the team plays to accomodate him, and he`s amazing. You couldnt get away with that as a real top side, imo.

      If i were to put together a team that would actually win some matches it`d look something like this;

      Hart

      Zabaleta Kompany Agger Cashley
      Bale Gerrard Yaya Mata
      Van Persie Suarez.

A few spots are close imo, like the keeper, one of the cb`s and the cm`s, but as far as a team goes, thats a pretty damn beastly one imo.

I agree with that, that actually has centre mids playing in the right position, whereas attacking mids playing CM isn't the same atall, the midfield would get overrun.

Mata on current form is undroppable, but he's not exactly a winger, you could line that up as a 4-3-3, with the front 6:

        Gerrard, Yaya
        Mata
        Suarez, RVP, Bale

Aguero has to be close to making that team, as does Baines, Rooney, Hazard and more an a few others, it's hard to pick. I like yours thoughh

The way i thought out "my team" was that Bale/Cashley offers plenty width and defensive security on the left hand side. By playing Mata as a right sided player, he cuts in a lot, which would in theory leave Zabaleta to overlap, as he likes to do. Gerrard/Yaya combination would be pretty damn sexy, imo. And the reason for going with Agger as opposed to say Vidic or someone else, is just the talent on the ball. Agger can start attacks and pass a player or two.

Certainly there are players close to making such a team. Aguero, Baines, Rooney, Walcott, Vidic, etc, but i decided just to try and make a team out of it, not just 11 great players.

      Cole over Baines.

And whilst those 4 mids are probs the best ones, they couldn't play together so ditch Silva for a genuine CM.

Although that one is quite tough, Yaya the only standout CM imo. Probs Gerrard still next best despite getting on a bit.

Yep this is how i see it. Ivan at RB is very useful against physical and direct opponents. It wil be interesting to see what happens to Ivan though when Azpi does start now that everyone is fit. Will Cahill make way or will Ivanovic sit on the bench?

Tonight Cahill did the thing I hate teammates doing the most when I play 6 a side. Dribbling out of defence and losing the ball in his own half.

The worst thing is that there is someone on my team who thinks he's the next Beckenbauer or something and KEEPS NEEDLESSLY DRIBBLING INTO TROUBLE in our half. Got the option to pass it on like a normal defender? No, got to ride one more tackle because you're Diego bloody Maradona. Oops, you just gave them a goal.

I often feel like I try too hard for the team, usually play LB or RB, track back a lot, try to mark opposing wingers out of the game, bomb forward when needed, make myself available for passes that never come... 😆

Tough decision. I am thinking about bringing him in. Rodgers sort of brought him in from the cold and now he's started several games in a row. Carragher is a leader and more importantly for a center back a talker. I'm guessing he'll start both but it's a guess, Skrtel at Zenit.

I think it's my only option...currently have Suarez, and Davies for the DGW...ideally would love to get Gerrard, but I think it would mess the team up elsewhere.

For 1 week only I may do bale-> Gerrard and Clyne -> Carragher for a 4 point hit.

    Hello DZ.

Took in the Scotland game tonight, pretty grim to be honest. Bitterly cold with not much quality football happening.

Nothing much Fantasy wise to report either. Maloney was pretty tidy and sharp, he came off at half time for the Snod who didn't show much apart from a decent free kick. Fletcher played 70mins but looked like he couldn't be arsed. Adam got an assist from a well worked free kick, but apart from that was generally anonymous and looks like he's carrying too much weight again..

Tough one as both have a decent shot at a CS but I'd stick with Bego.

Despite recent results, Stoke are a better defence than Norwich.

Also Norwich are really sliding down the league atm, not a good run of form at all, wouldn't be surprised if Fulham turned them over.

Oh and wait and see if Berba's available too.

Hmm i can see Rodgers going with this:

Reina (doesnt really need rotating and needs some gametime for confidence reasons)
      Wisdom Skrtl Agger Enrique
(dont really fancy Coates to play as it seems he`s leaving soon and the last time he and Skrtl played together was Oldham, and yeah...)
Allen Shelvey Henderson with possibly a cheeky entry for Coutinho in for Henderson.
More likely a cameo for him though.
I think Suarez will start, i think Borini probably will start, along with Sterling.

I think we`ll want to keep it tight and get through the game without getting slaughtered, and i think thats the side we`ll run out.

To be honest its pretty easy to picture how the team is going to look. We dont really have that big of a squad anyways, and BR will want the stronger team in the home leg against Zenit. The league is more important though, so first team coming up in both dgw-games. I`d be shocked i see something very different.

For the Zenit game? Nah, theres no way he can manage 3 games in one week. He`ll be on the bench probably, but just the two league games for him.

Yep. I just read all that and found it thoroughly depressing. Why would the guy suddenly choose to expose himself as a complete a*sehole on the Paddy Power Cup thread? Weird.

Suarez is pretty scary if you dont own him this gw, imo. Teams are pretty even, theres upsides to both ones. Probably coming down to the wire, but team A having 2 dgw`ers probably a small favourite in my book.

How many minutes did important fantasy players play then? If at all. Saw Rooney and Gerrard played the whole game for England. What about the likes of Bale, Mata, RVP?

RVP/Mata one half, Bale about an hour, same with Aguero. Suarez played 90. England boys have no travel so for them to play a full game is no problem.

Need some help with this lot...

    2 frees. 0 in bank.

    Bego - Turnbull

    Davies - Zabaleta - Demel - Cameron - Harte

    Bale - Fellaini - Cazorla - Michu - Puncheon

    RVP - Suarez - Ba

Was thinking of Turnbull > Reina
    Ba > Lambert

    Thoughts?

Clint's best position is on the left of the midfield.

But who play left midfield on Spurs?

Clint`s best position is as a star player for a mid-table side. He doesnt belong in a top club. Saying he`s shit is a bit unfair.
