HomeCrowd Tweaks

Tonight we’ve introduced a few changes to the HomeCrowd comments system – the main tweak being the removal of the downvote mechanism to put more emphasis on upvoting in order to ensure comments remain useful, entertaining and friendly.

We’ve taken this decision after gathering feedback from the community and undertaking lengthy discussion behind the scenes. We want to ensure there remains a strong focus on positive interaction between community members and to reduce any misuse of the voting system. It appeared that there was clear confusion on how the downvote should be used and the mechanic had also become secondary as an aid to moderation.

Many of the major social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook only have positive feedback options, such as ‘like’ and ‘favourite’ and we’ve decided to follow their lead. As before, please be sure to upvote any comment that you find useful and that you feel benefits the community.

In order to allow users to flag up any comments that they feel warrant moderator attention, we’ve also made a slight change by renaming the “report” button to “flag”. Please use the flag button if you feel a comment post is disruptive or abusive and a moderator will take a look and act on it if required.

Finally, we have removed the publicly displayed reputation level badges. Again, these caused some confusion and while we’ve kept them and the hidden reputation system behind them, the badges can now only be seen within a poster’s profile.

Thank you to everyone for your feedback during the first few weeks of HomeCrowd, it has been invaluable to helping us evolve it. Once the season begins and traffic levels settle, we will hopefully have the opportunity to start adding new features.

I wish we knew if Kolo Toure would be nailed on, so I could do Mig & Clyne > Boruc & Toure, to pocket £0.5.

Toure is nailed on... For now.

Basically he is ahead of Skrtel in the pecking order, but if Liverpool sell/loan Skrtel then they will bring in another defender who will likely displace Toure (eg Papadopoulos)

    two questions...

How much do people think Soldado will be, given that Man City's two new strikers are 9.5..?

Why is no one picking Fellaini? I've not see him in one team yet. Waiting to see if he moves club? Think he won't be played in advanced role so less likely to score?

personally because I think he was in good form as opposed to being a quality player. Will only consider myself proven wrong if same thing happens again.

      10.0 for Soldado I reckon.

Guess people think Fellaini may play deeper. Same can be said of Yaya Toure

If soldado signs...then back to square 1, quality player and ill have to force him into my side somehow.

Fellaini, more moyes getting the best out of him. I think Kagawa could have the same impact Fellaini had last year this time round.

Defemce average...could do with a few tweaks so you have cover, can't see them lot apart from collins racking you many points up.

Dislike the Davis, you may aswell spend .5 extra and have a #1 choice keeper even as backup IMO.

Rest of the team great, i would consider Nolan for Mirallas for the first few gameweeks considering WestHam have an easy ride.

Can't see Anelka being used as much as people think tbh...i mean he sometimes played Lukaku from the bench last season so can see the same happening with Anelka on occasions. But at 5.5 he's cheap and its either him or Cornelius for you.

Rest of the team is good, personally would rather have Nolan over Mirallas for the first few game weeks at least.

Good team, well balanced, midfield has hitters and heavy hitters.

Graham will be nailed-on and will get you a few points if he recreates his Swansea form of 2 seasons ago. Cornelius though, I look at him coming from Copengagen a CL club and think could be deadly 😉

Not sure what you're hoping to get from Schneiderlin ? He's a great player, but not a great player for fantasy...he's the guy that does well but only gets 2/3pts a week. Jerome Thomas of C.Place is not only cheaper, but will be played as a striker...yes he womt score many, but he's more likley to get you points than old Morgan Schneid is.

Vlaar...A.Villa have Chelsea/Arsenal in the first gameweek, then without a game in week 3. That's an error if im honest, you may aswell get a better 4.5 I.E Collins.

Bacuna is about the most random choice ive seen on here to date lol.

    What are people's thoughts on:

    A) Kagawa

    B) Paulinho

    C) Pienaar?

I like Kagawa's chances under Moyes and especially with Rooney jumping ship. Plus he has another PL season under his belt and another year's experience.

Paulinho I must admit I only know from FIFA and from two international Brazil games where he seemed quite quiet.

Pienaar could flourish again under wingers-loving Martinez under a revitalised everton?

    any opinions welcome!

Hmm maybe, as a spurs fan myself im actually wondering how we'll line up this season.

        My guess is...

        Lloris

        Walker, Kaboul/Dawson, Vertonghen, BAE/Rose

        Paulinho Sandro

        Lennon Bale Chadli

        Soldado.

Providing Bale doesn't leave of course...but even with that line up, paulinho is deep and theres no dembele....hmmm. Tough call, but i like the sound of Paulinho a gamble if you have him in your team but a gamble that could well pay off...think Michu was cheap and short right up more or less straight away....

Personally think Bale is on his way, Perez doesn't often not get what he wants... But then there's PLENTY of depth in the CAM role at spurs with dembele siggy dempsey holtby etc..

I can see Spurs being right up there this season if they play their cards right, even without bale. Soldado would be a huge deciding factor.

True, this is Daniel levy we're talking about though, he made Modric stay an extra season after wanting out...

I'd take 85m for Bale though as much as i love him, and try maybe get Contraou as part of the deal...don't rate BAE and Rose is up and coming.

The people who say Vertonghen will play LB are mad...it's the reasonh he didn't join Arsenal, he wants to be a CB and he doesn't like regularly playing LB apart for his country.

I'm a Madrid supporter myself and I seriously hope we don't get Bale.. Quality player but 85m+ is a joke.. would have much rathered Cavani as Higuain is gone and we already have a left winger.
So hopefully Levy continues to be an awkward stubborn greedy ass 😀 haha

I think Coentrao needs to move on for his own sake, decent player but Marcelo is better imo. I love di maria though so if there's gonna be players swapped take coentrao! 😀

Absolutely no idea.. Too hard to drop Vert or Dawson after the two impressive seasons they had but Kaboul was arguably their best defender before getting injured.. I'd expect a bit of rotation going on maybe.. I'm staying clear, no matter how good that defensive mid partnership looks!

Kagawa certainly has lots of potential if he secures the role in the hole, a wait and see though due to the Rooney situation and also I feel there are better options initially given Manus tough start. Considering him after the first few GWs allows us to see how he'll look.

Paulinho is gonna be playing pretty deep he seems and better options obviously Bale if he stays, failing that Dempsey/Chadil/Lennon or Soldado up top if he signs

I feel like Mirallas > Pienaar, 0.5 more but I think he'll score better

        Good point regarding Kagawa.

I think Paulinho is a quality footballer but not a fantasy-football-orientated player... one of those to pass to the assister types. I can see him bagging a few goals but not enough to warrant investment. Il be picking up Soldado the second he signs though.. Rate him very highly!

Yeah I think he does make the odd surges forward so will as you say bag a few goals perhaps but yeah there are better options around 7.0, Ben Arfa, Nolan, Snodgrass etc. Yeah I think Soldado could be a great choice, Spurs main striker not at risk from rotation and they have a real good set of opening fixtures.

We dont know who is reliable yet, Aspas has a good chance of starting in the middle , Dzeko has a good chance of beginning the season as the striker , the chelsea situation will become clearer and Chadri looks a decent punt at 7.5
All dependent on Bale leaving of course

i seeing way too many teams with anelka and or snodgrass. anelka is no the same player he was 3 years ago and the only reason snodgrass did well last season was because of their poor strikers and they wont have that same issue this year

He's the Norwich playmaker though, his goals might drop but with RVW Hooper and potentially Quag it should only mean his assists go up...

Three ways to look at it

        1) Hes trying to keep him happy until the transfer window closes

I'm tending toward A, though I don't really know who you mean by "Kaca". I do know that Walcott will continue to be explosive in the coming season and Aspas looks to be an important part of every Liverpool game during the preseason. Considering we're judging Lukaku on similar information, I'd opt for the better midfielder.
