Sky Sports Analysis – Goalkeeper Bonus Save Points

As mentioned in a previous article, there’s been a handful of new rules introduced to the Sky Sports Fantasy game this season. One of the most welcome additions is the move to reward goalkeepers with bonus points – stoppers will now receive two extra points if they make five or more saves in a match, thus boosting their appeal and forcing us to reassess their worth in the season ahead.

The Sky Sports table for Goalkeepers in the Members Area now includes the bonus points from saves that would have been accrued for the past two seasons. In this evening’s article for Members, we’ve analysed these numbers in full, assessing the impact the new bonus system is likely to have on our Sky Sports selections.

What are people planning on doing with Lukaku? Selling after the DGW? If he only plays one game, will/would you keep or sell? Considering banking 0.5 to upgrade to Giroud.

I am selling even if he starts twice.
No plans for keeping him for Man Utd away then blank then Rooney being signed on deadline day.

Upgrade week 2 using money from cole downgrade.
Hoping this will be lukaku to negredo.

That's the plan, 2 DGWers means that it's easy to have a full team when they have the bye. Plus IF Bale stays you can go Cole>4m defender and then Hazard>Bale after GW1.

    RMTs:

    1) Team w/ Bale:

    Mignolet (Boruc)
    Ivan, Mert, Garrido (Parr, Chester)
    Bale, Hazard, Coutinho, Snodgrass (Thomas)
    Benteke, Lambert, Berbatov

    2) Team w/ RVP:

    Mignolet (Boruc)

              why do you say that?

I think he's a brilliant leftback. He's very attacking and is incredibly dangerous from free kicks. There isn't much better than that for that kind of price.

Hi lads/ladies. New here so just saying a quick hi. Seems like a very useful site and can see myself getting addicted pretty quickly.

Looked at a few RMTs so far and everyone seems to be of the opinion that Bale is a done deal which is probably fair enough.

I know United have a pretty horrific fixture list to start with so my question is; what determines a change in a players value once the game starts? Is it just ownership? If so, and I realise this is the million dollar question, but if RvP starts on fire will enough people be able to afford to transfer him in if they haven't started with him, i.e. what is the likelihood of his value rising further once the game starts?

Personally I am leaving him out and have a transfer plan to get him in at around GW5 but that all depends if his value rises or not. What's the general consensus on the matter?

Cheers in advance for any comments.

He already has a high ownership so it will be tough for him to rise in price as a result. He probably will rise if he gets off to a flyer but I don't think it will be a crazy rise that we will struggle to keep up with. If anything I think there is greater potential for his price to go down because he is so expensive and with high ownership.

Ryan, That's what i'm thinking myself. I think if people settle on leaving him out at the start not many will keep the extra 5-6m in the bank to bring him in immediately, most will have a transfer plan or just WC. I'm hoping he will drop 0.2-0.3 by GW5.

Anyone here think Kagawa will have a much better season this year? I'm hoping for big things from him IF Moyes uses him properly!

You're spot on about the price difference being an issue for buying in. It will certainly help keep his price in check and prevent him from rising much.

At this stage United are wait and see I reckon. There will be a lot of rotation and with tough fixtures and a new manager I'd be wary about backing any of their assets to start off with. With Rooney still hanging around I'm not sure Kagawa is a safe bet at this stage.

Ya true. At the minute I have no United players but plan on having 2 by about GW5. RvP and possibly Kagawa if he becomes nailed on. Very tough to get any United or City mids that are nailed on at this stage. I've had to use my WC by GW4 in the last 3 seasons and need to avoid a start like that again ha.

Any thoughts on this team would be much appreciated:

    Mig (4m)
Coleman - terry - Collins (shaw - brayford)
Coutinho - hazard - ramires - Ramirez (Kim)
    Rvp - giroud - dzeko

    .5 left

Was thinking debruyne instead of ramires as both have had a pretty good preseason but I think ramires is more nailed on.

Even if there is rotation in the man city team (which is highly likely) you've only spent 7.5. So it's a cheap way into man city attack that has great fixtures. He's in pretty decent form.

I kinda feel like the rotation will effect the man c mid too and I'd rather have a player at 7.5 with rotation question marks than a player at 9. To your point tho, maybe it would be worth skipping man c for gw1 to see how they line up and getting a more nailed on player.

Toure will probably get more clean sheets, and like you say, there are questions about Coleman's game time, but Coleman has played really well in preseason. I'd be really surprised if Martinez doesn't utilize that form.

Def agree that he won't get more clean sheets but I do think Coleman's attacking potential is higher that toures. Tho Coleman's points will most likely be dependent on the Everton forwards and miralls converting his crosses/cut backs.

    Morning lads,

After looking through people's choices for the DGW it looks like Cole and Hazard are the most likely to get the most time (Cech too, but most would prefer cheaper GK options). Now since we still don't know about Bale, I realised a nice little move you can do to get him GW2:

    Cole>4m defender
    Hazard>Bale

Now this plan is for the FPL player who has used up all their money, however it can be easier with a little money in the bank. Now IF Bale stayed, is this move a viable option and worth the 4 point hit in GW2?

Hard to say, Long might get the nod over him. Possible rotation risk like Lukaku was last season.

Not bothering with the rest o the team until trannies are in

But what bout this Mignolet business... Get two 4.5 keepers and rotate them with Kolo T in the defense?

    OR

Get Mig and a 4.0 and have some different defenders floating about?

last season i had bego and tremmel for the majority of the season. rarely did i use tremmel and when i did bego probably did just as well or outscored him through saves. one good keeper is better than two average ones.

The key thing really is whether Kolo will still be a 'nailed on' CB by the transfer deadline. Liverpool are looking for a new CB at the moment. There are also rumours that Barcalona are chasing Agar as well so who knows.

If Agger leaves, I would be a tad nervous as he is a good defender/partner alongside Kolo. If Skrtel leaves and Liverpool do not sign a new CB I will be very happy with Toure.

I'm getting Mig, Toure, and a 4.0 GK. Last season I often picked the wrong keeper anyway. Mig alone is enough for me.

I think the most frustrating thing in fpl is having more points on your bench than on your playing team. Why put yourself through that stress if you don't have to? One keeper and bench fodder.

However, injuries do happen, and the extra 0.5 spent on a keeper that may rise in value could be a money proposition where you recoup. A non-playing 4.0 won't do that.

For sure, any tactic comes with its good points and bad. 0.5 could be spent somewhere else in your team and value could be gained there. This is just the tactic I prefer.

    Hazard, Mirallas, Walcott, Coutinho, Silva
    Lukaku, Benteke (Rodriguez)

    or with RVP

For GW1.. would you rather have:

Toure and Lukaku OR A 2nd Chelsea defender and Sturridge(assuming he's fit)

The second one. I'm a fan of getting two Chelsea defenders. Players like Luiz and Ivan are more than capable of getting attacking points as well and they are solid defensively under Mourinho.

Thanks guys, i did think there would be a split. Worry about the second one is that Mourinho could put out 2 different defences in both games and the status of Sturridge could make my mind up for me. Good point about Chelsea defenders having great attacking potential too, but then so does Lukaku if he gets a considerable no. of minutes. It's a quandary.
