Sky Sports Analysis – Goalkeeper Bonus Save Points

As mentioned in a previous article, there’s been a handful of new rules introduced to the Sky Sports Fantasy game this season. One of the most welcome additions is the move to reward goalkeepers with bonus points – stoppers will now receive two extra points if they make five or more saves in a match, thus boosting their appeal and forcing us to reassess their worth in the season ahead.

The Sky Sports table for Goalkeepers in the Members Area now includes the bonus points from saves that would have been accrued for the past two seasons. In this evening’s article for Members, we’ve analysed these numbers in full, assessing the impact the new bonus system is likely to have on our Sky Sports selections.

So what are peoples thoughts on Oscar for the double? Surley gotta be in with a shout of as many or more time than Lukaku? How has he looked pre-season?

    Not for me for now. Too many concerns - as fixtures, new manager, no creative midfielder - for the price. I prefered to go with more balanced team. And I actually see much more value in midfielders this season.

  I don't like Dzeko. Well he is a big rotation risk risk put it that way. Still, he could do well.

    I wanna risk with him. 7.5M is worth a gamble IMO. Especially that Aguero might not be fit for the beginning - It's a bit more than 10 days from the start and he hasn't played a single minute yet.
    And he is in form + nice fixtures.

    ive never met dzeko so cant say that i like or dislike him. In any case he is probably the main striker for the start of the season from a top 3 side. sounds logical

Worth doing Bony to Aspas?

I can then get Bony in for GW3. I am worried though that I may be wasting a transfer doing this. In all likelihood I will need to do a fair few of them at the start of the season. This is catch price increases of players who hit form early.

Weimann & Benteke scored a goal apiece in their friendly yesterday. With all the focus on Benteke i think i am going to have a cheaky punt on Weimann. Each assisted the other for thr goals and i can see this regularly being the case in league too. Good cheap forward option with the added bonus of a DGW

1) To RVP or not to RVP?

Baines, Ramsey, Lukaku and Dzeko

or

Chester, Rosicky, RVP and Anelka?

I know he'll probably start or slowly - United always do plus they have a tough schedule, but I do think he'll tear it up this year. The thing is, if his price starts rising, I can't see myself bringing him in. I already think £14m is too much.

2) If he does start rising, what is the highest he can go before he's too expensive to get in our dare to let go?

    Oddly it seems that quite a lot of people who employ that argument in favour of RVP have no problem loading up their squads with Chelsea and even Villa players, a transfer is a transfer.

        I agree. I don't think Benteke is a good shout at all for the DGW and going with 3 Chelsea attackers gives much more flexibility - just need to find three who are likely to play.

  Anyway, this one week, 2 seasons ago, I had him on my bench. He, if I remember correctly, scored, got an assist and baps. If I'd have played him over Baines or some midfielder that I can't remember I'd have got the top spot. It's a cruel world!

  I can't stand the thought of spending the first few weeks of the much anticipated FPL cleaning up the mess of the DGW, and never quite arriving at the structure I was after because new injuries/bandwagons keep coming along!!
  
  I'm going to treat GW2 as GW1 and give myself a headstart and a clean slate with what I believe is a more optimal and flexible structure, free of Chelsea players. I've never really needed the WC late season anyway as the optimal template is usually determined by then.

i am very happy with my team at this moment

Ming , 4.0

Toure , Mert , Terry , Cheaster , Brayford

Mirallas , Walcott , Hazard , Nolan , 4.5M

Rodrigez , Lukaku , RVP

-only concern is no city player but i starting season with RVP and i can't have them all

-defense looks more than solid with 3 big hitters (will downgrade Terry very fast after dgw)

-only Soldado good pricing could possibly ruin this team

-overal i wont need do early wc and take pts hit

-rvp scores against everyobody so i dont care much about his bad oppening fixures

-lukaku is the biggest problem and i'd rather have Oscar but can't risk his possible big pts haul and he is easy to downgrade

what do you think about it lads?

  He was a good FPL prospect when he played for Wolves, last season he didn't click with the West Ham team, however he is showing glimpes of the form that he showed before, in preseason (according to the reports and the team's owners)
  
  I'm not sure about Noble, have to rely on set pieces whereas Jarvis whips a lot of balls in the box, which also goes towards BPS this season.
  
  I did have Jarvis but have since changed to Kim (CAR) as they seem to have decent fixtures and from preseason, is getting involved in everything

    Yep, he's showing some kind of form atm and WHU's early fixtures are too good to be ignored. Noble is a safe bet but somehow i believe a punt on Jarvis will be rewarded.

Anyone now suffering from squad tinkering exhaustion over the last few weeks?

Decided to leave my team until after the Charity Shield when I'll start to nail down my starters for the first three GW's. Will probably WC after GW3 in the international break.

Enjoying other peoples RMT's though, without getting bogged down in my own team. 😉

Looking at teams (excluding Chelsea because they have a DGW) it looks like the players we have most of is Liverpool. Many of us have 3 Liverpool players, mostly Migs, Toure and Coutinho, with a few opting for more pricy defenders from the reds, some going with Gerrard in midfield also. This looks to be even more prominent when Sturridge is match fit and Suatez us back from his ban.

  Currently only have Mignolet, may 'downgrade' Hazard to Cout, or Navas, depending on who starts the season the brightest.
  
  I think Liverpool will do better than last season, it will be a real test for Cout to prove he can carry on how he started

      Coutinho wasn't hit and miss. He and Sturridge shared 14 goals and 12 assists since they signed in less than half a season. Sturridge also is the first Premier League player to score 10 goals in 13 games, this whilst not being 100% match fit. For me, it'd be Migs, Coutinho and Sturridge if I could afford it.

  As they showed a lack of fight last season in certain games, a team with Aspas, Suarez and Diego Costa in is gonna fight like hell (that's if Costa does sign). Also, if they get this Papa kid as is muted from Schalke, they will have one determined bunch.
