Sky Sports Analysis – Goalkeeper Bonus Save Points

As mentioned in a previous article, there’s been a handful of new rules introduced to the Sky Sports Fantasy game this season. One of the most welcome additions is the move to reward goalkeepers with bonus points – stoppers will now receive two extra points if they make five or more saves in a match, thus boosting their appeal and forcing us to reassess their worth in the season ahead.

The Sky Sports table for Goalkeepers in the Members Area now includes the bonus points from saves that would have been accrued for the past two seasons. In this evening’s article for Members, we’ve analysed these numbers in full, assessing the impact the new bonus system is likely to have on our Sky Sports selections.

    Hello mate

I remember asking about you a long time ago

I remember you because I watched smurfs when I was little. You came on here a lot before.

You are talking about rob. He is married he would never have a girlfriend. We do not speak any more I pushed him in a bar once and we had a few arguments. I confronted him as I think he was making up stories when he was called mr even when he was supposed to be was a doctor. It sounded like he had been kicked out of the job and lost his title and he tried to tell me some stupid story about surgery

Lost this on last page, gr8 start

Ahh its good to be back!

What with Reading being relegated, my PL interest had wained, so please forgive me if this RMT has some glaring errors.

    Mignolet/Boruc
    Luiz, Olsson, Coleman, Brayford, Wilson
    Hazard, Walcott, Coutinho, Silva, Whittingham
    Lukaku, Jrod, Benteke

    0.0mill left.

I was thinking of Foster instead of Mignolet to free up 0.5mill. RVP is still tempting if I downgrade the midfield. Is Sissoko still a good bet this season guys ?

It does indeed look like Liverpool are looking for cover at left-back.

They're currently in discussions with Algerian international Faouzi Ghoulam of Saint-Etienne, who had been on the verge of signing for Torino. No imminent decision expected as yet though.

    Boruc-Davis
    Ivanovic-Mertesacker-Enrique-Bennett-Whittaker
    Coutinho-Walcott-Bale-Hazard-Wanyama
    Lukaku-Dzeko-Moore

decided against any aston villa players, chose two defenders I hope to keep till the end. Southampton have easy fixtures, hope their possession football means less conceding, reason for Boruc.

My first few seasons I spent like a drunken sailor ... last two I've done the opposite. I'd say not taking hits is a maverick style.

The secret? *leans in* ... pick the right players to begin with.

            Wise words, indeed.

Last season, my maiden voyage, I followed my heart and started with 3 Villans and a host of what could only be described (with hindsight) as 'punts'.

I didn't know what a wildcard was and after a few weeks of 'showing faith in my boys' i began multiple hit weeks, successively, until i'd reshaped almost the whole team.

Then i learned of the Wildcard - rinsed that in a heartbeat before continuing to make 4 - 8 point hits almost weekly.

You'd be surprised to hear i finished outside the top 400,000!

I feel like I took a lot of hits. I don't think you should be afraid to if you really need to get a player out. For the first few weeks of last season I was getting a net gain from players transferred in. I brought in RVP and HBA like the 2nd week and they brought returns 😀

I thought I'd help assess the template players:

MIgnolet: well ok, he probably is a good buy...
Boruc: def from a bottom half team who conceded a lot last season, not completely nailed on

Cole: OK for GW1 maybe, but then away at Man U and a blank; plus never contributes many attacking points
Coleman: A defender in a Martinez team; really? Even if he plays OOP, he still won’t score enough goals to make up for a leaky defence
Collins: Aging, and likely to be injury prone
Toure: As above, but more so.
    Shaw/ Clyne: see Boruc

Walcott: Can’t think of much wrong, er, hamstrings maybe
Hazard: OK for GW1, but you’ll wish you went with Mata until you actually do
Coutinho: 9m for an unproven player? Who won’t get any set pieces and might end up playing deep a lot of time? Surely not
Miralles: if Everton don’t go 3 at the back, average at best
Silva: Nailed on under Mancini. Mancini no longer the manager

    Dzeko: Likely to be rotated
Lukaku: Very likely to be rotated
    RVP: too expensive

9.0M for an under-achieving midfielder that was only 12th best in his position does not represent good value.

I like Coutinho and, if Suarez remains at Liverpool, he could be a top five midfielder this season.

Agree Re: Southampton....only 7 clean sheets last season, but where else is there sub 5.0M defensive value?

Agree with all three forwards, especially Lukaku.

Not too bad an assessment but needs rectifying.

Coleman: very good option, finally have some defensive depth and a move to 3-4-3 actually improves their defence, they will now play a settled 3 at the back as opposed to in cover situations with baines playing left wing most of the time last year.
Shaw/Clyne: Not rotation risk but as for leaky defence, end of last season their defence was one of the best in the league and it has only got better with the addition of wanyama, invest well just not in boruc, there is a rotation/selection risk.

Hazard: definitely the player you will want week 1 and mata will not be the player you want when he is put on the right of the AM 3.
Coutinho: Dont know where he will play deep, he has left wing/forward and in the hole as his two positions and neither of those are deep, both formations liverpool line up in, he has free licence to attack, yes perhaps better value if someone else can nail down a spot but considering liverpools opening fixtures and the need to cover them with no one else nailed on up top he is dam near essential.
Mirallas: the options martinez plays are 3-4-3 or 4-3-3, either way he doesnt have a problem.

    A) Walcott and Dzeko
    or
    B) Silva and Giroud?

    Leaning towards A myself.

Yeah - B for me. Not sure Silva is the best 9.0 midfielder in the game but he is pretty nailed on, as is Giroud (provided Arsenal don't sign a high-profile striker). Will be interesting to see how Navas starts the season (same price as Silva). Anyone gone for him - could be an assist machine?

I really like Cazorla over Walcott. Especially with new bonus point system. Nolan is a good pick with great early fixtures. There is talk that mata won't play both games in gw1, so perhaps consider hazard instead? Also not sure on Parker's game time......

A question for all those not getting RVP, what ManU cover do you get? Is Kagawa the only real option? Just wondering what people are thinking. Personally, I have him. May swap for a double gameweeker, but intend to get Him early.

      It is.
person A posts side, person B says why player 1 is bad, so he gets player 2.
Person A then repeats this to person C.
Eventually squads all become 10/15 the same.

    Evening all,

Spurs - how do we think the midfield will line up?

    Assuming one up top, then:

    ....... Dembele Paulinho

    Lennon - Siggy / Holtby - Chadli

Or can we expect Sandro to get starts, freeing up Dembele or Paulinho to play as CAM? Am thinking Dembele could be value at 5.5m.
