Sky Sports Analysis – Goalkeeper Bonus Save Points

As mentioned in a previous article, there’s been a handful of new rules introduced to the Sky Sports Fantasy game this season. One of the most welcome additions is the move to reward goalkeepers with bonus points – stoppers will now receive two extra points if they make five or more saves in a match, thus boosting their appeal and forcing us to reassess their worth in the season ahead.

The Sky Sports table for Goalkeepers in the Members Area now includes the bonus points from saves that would have been accrued for the past two seasons. In this evening’s article for Members, we’ve analysed these numbers in full, assessing the impact the new bonus system is likely to have on our Sky Sports selections.

      So much crazy talk in these RMT, all these injuries and uncertainties over who will be starting give me the impetus to play 3 Chelsea and 3 Aston Villa and then wildcard, will at least give me an extra game week.

      Just don't worry about it, get the super sub. He will def. as It stands get a run out even if he does not start. I think he will start G/W1 but obviously It's all conjecture.

        I have considered Ramirez once or twice, but RVP+6 is 20 mil and Walcott + Soldado is 19mil(or so most are expecting). Or are you just being conservative on Soldado and pricing him at 10.5?

          Being conservative, and also i can make a defender/keeper a tad cheaper if i must to get it all to balance if im .5mil/1mill over.The big decision is the mid and fwd combo

            Dicey to have a non-playing substitute GK

            Seems to be a lot of money wasted on junk defenders (and I am not referring to the ones on your bench).

            There were 11 better performing midfielders than Silva last season; I expect roughly the same again this year.

            I don't think Lukaku is going to play as much as the majority of people on this website believe.

            Benteke has tough opening fixtures, but maybe worth picking up after first few weeks.

              In response to your comment.
              A. The sub GK, I feel like it wouldnt make that much of a difference to have even a cheap backup GK because Mignolet is nailed on and is set for a great season.
              B.Silva, Silva was injured during the course of the season last year and missed 8 games
              C. Lukaku, I see no reason why Lukaku wont start he has been outplaying Ba and Torres and Mourinho loves him.
              D. Benteke, I am just going to have him this week because of the DGW next week I will replace him with Sturridge or another striker.
              E. "junk defenders", I really dont see how my defenders are junk defenders, coleman will have an increased role in the Everton defense. Mertesacker has always been a good defender and good with headers and should thrive with the new BPS in place. Boh have relatively easy fixtures early on. For comment about Jagielka see below

    With the new BPS, make your case for/against (without using "A is cheaper than B"):

    Walcott v. Santi

    Gerrard v. Countinho

    Mata v. Hazard

    I'm honestly flip flopping between each pair. Every player has a pro and a con, but will definitely score points when you look at their free kick responsibilities, bonus points, assists, etc...

      I think Gerrard will play more games at CAM than he did last year, with Allen and Lucas playing in the double pivot.

      I'd feel happier going Gerrard(c) than Coutinho(c).

      i can do you hazard over mata based on game time at the start of the season, mata will be rested due to his international in south america

      Coutinho over Gerrard, Coutinho is more nailed on for a more advanced role, when suarez is back would expect gerrard to drop deep again next to lucas, coutinho will stay in front 4 players.

      Walcott over Santi, Expecting santi to be moved out wide and he is not nearly as effective there and for that reason will be selecting walcott

      Not sure Mirallas will be worth 7.5m if he ends up playing from RM. Big fan though.

      Loks good for an RVP team though. I'd try an squeeze a Chelsea defender in there. They have very favourable home fixtures in their first 12 games.

          It's looking like Cole is the most nailed on, followed by Cahill, but Ivanovic playing CB tonight has thrown a spanner in the works. We didn't know Mourinho considered him as a CB option before.

          It means there's 4 - Terry, Cahill, Luiz, Ivanovic all capable of eating into each other's gametime.

          I think the preferred partnership will be Cahill - Luiz but Mourinho could easily pick and choose when to go for the english pairing or neither depending on the type of game.

    Toure - A Cole - Kolorov - Collins - Brayford
    Hazard - Walcott - Gerrard - Ramirez - Morrison
    Lukaku - Bony - Giroud

    Ramirez / Morrison rotation looks great first half of the season. Could go with Lallana instead of Ramirez.

    Collins and Brayford decent back-up for when Kolorov doesn't start.

    Lukaku > Dzeko an option.

    Bony is going to surprise people! Second name on my team sheet after Hazard 😀

    Is Cech a viable option for anyone?

    PROS:
    + Cech and Toure is £0.5m cheaper than the Mignolet and Cole/Ivan/Luiz partnership.
    + More flexibility for Week 3. You don't have to transfer him out as long as you've got a decent back-up.

    CONS
    - Despite the cost saving mentioned above, you do need a back-up keeper for week 3 which will cost you at least £4.5.
    - You'll probably want to transfer him out eventually anyway, which is just delaying the transfer.
    - His price could fall in GW3 so you'll be tempted to get him out quickly so no different to owning a defender.

    I have him in my team at the moment (with Boruc), but thinking about going back to Mignolet (with Boruc).
