KPI Analysis – Lambert and Rodriguez

Over the last few weeks, a combination of factors have elevated Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez into many pre-season Fantasy squads. The Saints’ kind opening run of fixtures has caught the eye, while Rodriguez’s more budget-friendly appeal over Rickie Lambert has also played a part in how we assess his potential across the Fantasy games. Having scored three times in the opening couple of summer friendlies, Rodriguez has been quick to hit form and as interest in the former Burnley man gathers, we use the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to analyse the impact of Mauricio Pochettino on both Rodriguez and Lambert over the previous season.

As mentioned previously, the KPI helps us track certain key statistics which are indicative of a player’s form over a certain Gameweek range or season. Having ran the rule over Robin Van Persie’s impact at United compared to his final year with Arsenal, we delve into last season’s data to look at the Saints duo’s performances from Gameweek 1-22 under Nigel Adkins compared to Gameweek 23-38, when Pochettino was installed as the new man in charge at St Mary’s. By also utilising the Comparison Tool across the two periods, there’s plenty for Fantasy managers to mull over.

  I'd have to save C, because two 4.5 mids is just too much of a sacrifice. I think RVP and Bale is overkill even if they stay though - Bale may be worth starting with, but he'll be gone by the end of the window, and that's when to bring RVP in.

  They're just making the point that, as Michu's faded since the home game, so has Bony. Though I'm not sure whether we can really assert that it's definitely linked/causal.

  With their "pre-season" games being on terrestrial TV I can see a whole lot of casuals getting on him from the off and not taking into account fixtures......but then he wasn't just the highest scoring player at that price from last season so maybe I am being naive 🙂

  Swansea midfield looking a bit like a minefield, there will be heavy rotation between the likes of Dyer, Routledge, Hernandez, Pozuelo, Shelvey, Lamah, Canas...Wait and see but at 4.5 could turn into a nice little Raheem Sterling.

  I'm a novice in FPL but I've had no probs with having 3 Chelsk and planning a stategy to not take hits for G/W 3 using 2 transfers.
  
  Also playing 10 men in G/W 3 to retain double Chelsk for G/W 4 is not too bad either.

  This is a silly suggestion.
  
  Why the rush to get rid. You have a 15 man squad, so use it. You have 4 defenders who aren't Chelsea, and if there's not three of them you'd happily play GW2, you're doing something wrong. You can easily play a Chelsea DF away to united as well, as it's likely to be a very tentative game.
  
  Furthermore, United's defence isn't always rock solid so one Chelsea attacker is perfectly justified - Lukaku scored a single-half hatrick against them mere months ago.
  
  Not to mention the fact that silly casuals will be signing in and boosting the price of any Chelsea player who explodes GW1.
  
  Transfer out one of them, max, for someone who looks good GW1 and has a much better fixture, but no more.

    That's not the point. If I can get 2 City (car, HUL) for just 4pts, there's a high chance of rewards over the two matches, so 4pts is nothing really (especially early season).
    
    You gotta play the fixtures.
    
    Lukaku scored against a United who already won the title and couldn't give 2 shits.
