KPI Analysis – Lambert and Rodriguez

Over the last few weeks, a combination of factors have elevated Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez into many pre-season Fantasy squads. The Saints’ kind opening run of fixtures has caught the eye, while Rodriguez’s more budget-friendly appeal over Rickie Lambert has also played a part in how we assess his potential across the Fantasy games. Having scored three times in the opening couple of summer friendlies, Rodriguez has been quick to hit form and as interest in the former Burnley man gathers, we use the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to analyse the impact of Mauricio Pochettino on both Rodriguez and Lambert over the previous season.

As mentioned previously, the KPI helps us track certain key statistics which are indicative of a player’s form over a certain Gameweek range or season. Having ran the rule over Robin Van Persie’s impact at United compared to his final year with Arsenal, we delve into last season’s data to look at the Saints duo’s performances from Gameweek 1-22 under Nigel Adkins compared to Gameweek 23-38, when Pochettino was installed as the new man in charge at St Mary’s. By also utilising the Comparison Tool across the two periods, there’s plenty for Fantasy managers to mull over.

The only change I'm left making is switching between 4.5 Palace midfielders, I'm sure one of them's going to fluke a goal and shoot up in price.

Unless Bale's still here this time next week I think I'm sorted...if he stays for the first two weeks, going to have to tear it up...

slowly his ownership is declining to the point he'd be a massive differential, not sure he's worth it though. Let's all have an agreement to ignore him 😀

What's Norwich defence gonna be? Wondering if Turner has threat from Martin and Bennett at CB (Bassong is clearly guaranteed the other spot). Would MArtin play RB, Garrido LB and Bennett on the bench?

Bassong's injury aside it seems that Garrido is the only one who's place is at risk from the arrival of Olsson.

Coleman is significantly more popular in RMTs than Riether. Both are priced at £5.0m. Is this because:

    1. Everton will preserve more clean sheets than Fulham.
    2. Coleman is OOP and will be more involved in attack even though Riether is also known to get forward.
    3. Everton will score many more goals than Fulham, rendering Riether's attacking preferences irrelevant.
    4. Everton are a better team (this may or may not be sound fantasy logic, but it could still be any one person's justification for choosing one player over another).
    5. Some other reason.

    Select all that apply.

You could definitely make a sound argument in Riether's case.

      Riether - 1 goal, 6 assists
      Coleman - 5 assists

Also you'd expect us to be stronger defensively this year with Amorebieta, Stek and Boateng added, and Everton to concede more under Martinez's style.

Having said all that I'd probably still go Coleman.

That's true, that could also be a point in Riether's favour though. He has that German ability to never get injured, Coleman was injured a couple times last season.

I think that it was just the lure of being OOP that brought him to the party but I am seeing less and less of him as Martinez is not being as brave/foolish as many thought and committing to the 3-4-3. I don't see his value as an out and out FB but clearly he should get some time in midfield through the season.

I do see Amorebieta as a reason why Reither's % would be down over all. I know some have spoken of him as a card magnet but he is nailed on for me and the 3rd or 4th best option at 4.5m.

I wouldn't bet on that. BR has said himself that with European games this yr it'll be harder to give fringe players a chance. If you do good you'll stay in the team, it's up to others in training to prove their worth.

If he starts off good he'll stay in.

Any reason you've gone for Rudd as a 4.5 keeper when there are 4.5ers who start?

I can see that working quite nicely. Snod and JRod are both arguably too good for the bench but having said that, if I owned either, I might want to hold them back against the top teams - so rotation could be the answer.

Best players on the field yesterday were Haz and Ram with a mention to Ibra too. imo

How does this look? Most will say too much in defence but I like the look of it myself. opinions plz
    Hart - 4.0
    G.Johnson - Cole - Collins - Shaw - Chester
    Hazard - Silva - Nolan - Walcott
    Sturridge - Lukaku - Dzeko

GW2 - Cole to Debuchy fancy he could do well in his next 4 with some attacking returns

I don't think that is bad at all you will at some point need to probably spread money to the forwards though when you realise who is bringing in the points. Problem is you need a 5th midfielder. Dzeko is a bit risky and can only see big points coming from your midfield tbh. It's one where you need to be aware after the first week

Dzeko is risky, but I think quite a few will go with him at the start worth the punt, Lukaku to negredo gw2 could be an option also for a hit though as downgrading cole will raise funds, depending on starts and on how he does in gw1

That's getting a lot of man city up front and you will waste a forward position when one of them doesn't play.

they dont mind selling him, just not to arsenal. i think they'd rather let him do a tevez than sell to arsenal.

also bear in mind that its a World Cup year, Suarez himself cant afford to pull stunts and not be playing. even if he stayed he would have to sort it out.

    3: Man U

    Mig, marshall
    Turner, Cole, Collins, clyne, chester
    Hazard, Oscar, Walcott, Mirallas, kim

Defence should be ok on rotation, Oscar will go wk3 and then look see who's performing for a double transfer, see if anyone from Man c is nailed on.

I think Anelka is a 6 - 6.5m man hiding behind a 5.5 price tag so if it's flexible and will see Benteke playing most games, I like it. Anything that breaks the template up a bit 😀
