The ScoutCast – Episode 111 – Bung

There are no brown envelopes in sight; this “bung” is firmly placed in my nasal passages as I clamber from my man-flu grief pit to sit alongside Granville and take my Gameweek medicine. After seeing me off by 21 points, it’s only fair I gave my co-host his moment of glory, regardless of being short of match fitness.

Somehow we end up arguing about Robin van Persie once again, before taking a gander at the bandwagons rolling and preview the weekend’s action the only way we know how: by rambling endlessly and singling out some dubious player picks along the way.

Get your repeat prescription via this link or cure your ailments via the easy to swallow player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      I'm just going to say it. Soldado will not score as many as the other big forwards the big 3 will be Benteke, RVP and Sturridge. Soldado will be in the chasing pack because Spurs will not be creating eough chances for him. So there

          suarez wont have enough time to be in the top pack. Sturridge will have his usual injury at some point n Liverpool will fall away. Benteke is good but can be stopped by an organised defence. The 2 world class strikers are Aguero n RVP. You saw it here first!!

    Greetings FF late nighters. Just don't feel settled on my team right now. I'm tempted to transfer either Lampard or Anelka out. The likes of Nolan are catching my eye. With just the 1FT and 1.5 in the bank, what would you do?

    GK: Mignolet
    DF: Coleman - Clyne - Garrido - Zabaleta
    MF: Silva - Walcott - Mirallas
    FW: Soldado - Giroud - Anelka

    Subs: Davis - Kim - Lampard - Ivanovic

      That is really hard, id probably save.

      No one sticks out like a saw thumb to get rid, and no in-form replacements jump out either. 2 FTs would be useful for the int'l break as well

        Its a tough one. Silva will get way more assists just because of the quality of player he is supplying is better but Walcott will probably score more goals just cos silva doesn't spend a great deal of time in the box. definitely silva for this weekend. Tottenham will go to the emirates to just defend n hopefully catch arsenal on the counter when they push men forward, as Villa did on the opening day. I can see another 0-0 like Monday.

        Dawson is still club captain by the way. You sure a 22 year old foreigner new to the league can displace him after 2 solid clean sheets. Im not so sure tbh. I think dawson is a safe option until toure is fit. But any WHU defender would do as well.

          in and around the 5.5 price range or below: Nasty, Shawcross, Huth, Hangeland, Reid, Jagielka are all worth consideration against Kos imo.

          If you plan on playing 3-4-3 why not have 2 x 4.0 as your 4th & 5th defenders (that rotate very well) and use the extra 0.5 saved to upgrade elsewhere or have in the bank for more flexibility for future transfers?

          Like the Brady & Wittingham rotation in midfield

    Boruc
    Mbiwa Coleman Turner
    R.Morrison Silva Coutinho Walcott Wanyama

    Benteke Toure Ward

    Not sure which defenders to play, all have equal chance IMO? Regardless, will have 11 playing as Ward will come IF R.Mor doesn't get game time.

      No cash then. As a benchwarmer it's hardly a disaster if he falls but unless you have money to invest in a 4.5m defender who might recover those points, it's best to grin and bear it. No great damage if it happens.

        Well Aleksander Tonev is just gonna have to ride my bench until he drops to 4.5 then ward-Prowse would be a swap for him worth taking I guess. My other budget Mid is Colback at 4.5, but I plan on using my FT and .05 in the bank to transfer him for Robbie Brady next week.

        My other Mids are Coutinho,Silva, and Mirallas.

        Price you pay for havin RVP, cheap gambles that sometimes turn out.

              It's not brilliant. Whittaker isn't nailed on and Newcastle don't fill me with confidence. Just because you regretted it in previous years doesn't mean it'll be the same this season.

      defence too expensive (especially if you are playing 3 at the back every week?)

      Tonev not playing

      Therefore down grade a defender and ditch Tonev for starters. Also I see Fletcher is back for Sunderland so could be the time to move Altidore soon as well

          Not Whittaker - Bassong back will result in Martin going to RB and Whittaker to the bench. Grab a 4 mil defender from a promoted side (Chester, Ward, B Turner seem popular choices)

          The other picks are fine although Newcastle have been poor going forward so far, you may want to consider other mid priced mids instead. That being said HBA was the most threatening player for Newcastle in GW1 (not sure about GW2)

      Haz -> Michu +.4

      Toure -> Collins +.5

      Altidore -> Berbatov -.4... probably should wait until after Palace game, but risk Altidore dropping before then... after the break, Sunderland's sched sucks

      .5 left to deal with Tonev later... though probably should just do Tonev -> JWP when they're both 4.6 in a few weeks when you have a spare transfer, ships passing in the night

    Looking to wildcard GW4.

    Thoughts on my team?

    Krul Boruc
    Cole Coleman Toure Collins Chester
    Walcott Coutinho Paulinho Whittingham Brady
    RVP Benteke Dzeko

    I can downgrade Cole to a 4.5 and upgrade Paulinho if the mids start firing.

    Can also downgrade RVP if needs be and upgrade one of the £5m too.

    Don't know if this is right, but I think its important to have exit strategies if I'm wildcarding this early. Just think RVP is going to be essential if i don't want to be watching United games from behind the sofa!

    The plan was always to sell Cech for a 4.5 gk to rotate with Boruc... But after Toure's injury I will have no Liverpool defensive coverage...
    Doing Cech -> Migs seems like a good move consdering Liverpool's fixtures after gw3.
    But I'm stubborn. I had decided on a 4.5/4.5 rotation, so I'm reluctant to deviate. The funds are better spent upgrading defence.
    A: Cech -> Migs, Toure -> 5.0
    B: Cech -> 4.5, Toure -> Agger/Vidic

      Cech owner here. Yep, initial plan was to ditch him, but thinking of giving him more a few weeks after the blank as i'm banking on Chelsea's resilience at the back this season. Did Toure > Coleman with my FT so no Liv defensive cover atm, but that clash against Notts County proved that they can be pretty shaky at the back. With injuries to Kolo, Cissokho and Joe Allen and probable new signings, i think it'll be wise to wait on the looks of new Liv backline. Plus, they're due to concede in the League 🙂
