FFS UEFA Beach Soccer Tournament 2013

Gameweek 8 sees the launch of the latest team competition for the Fantasy Football Scout community organised by FFS UEFA. Following the success of last season’s ICC-themed cricket tournament, the group have created FFS Beach Soccer World Cup 2013, with 16 teams, each comprised of 11 players, competing for the crown.

If you’re new to the concept and are wondering just what all the chatter has been about, here’s a link to their site which will help explain matters in a little more detail.

Essentially, the scoring is based around the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game.

Each team started scouting for players (ie, FPL managers) on Sunday, October 6 and the recruitment period will come to a close on Wednesday, October 16, with the roster of team players announced on Thursday, October 17.

The teams are led by a captain and vice-captain and guided by a manager, who decide which seven of their 11 players to field each week – depending on the perceived prospects of their FPL line-ups -and which four to bench. Their overall FPL scores for the Gameweek, with hits taken into account, will form the team’s score that week – by outscoring their opponents, they chalk up a win.

The first match in Gameweek 8 will be no more than a friendly before the main event gets underway the following weekend. This sees the 16 teams compete in four groups of four between Gameweek 9 and 11 – the top two teams from each group will progress to the knockout stages, where sides square up in a head-to-head elimination process from Gameweek 12 until the final in Gameweek 15. For anyone looking for further information on how the tournament works, click here for extra details.

Over the past few days, the tournament has become a popular topic on our site as the recruitment drive gets underway. As a result, we have created this article to keep discussion on the tournament to one particular place – we’ll ensure the article is kept featured at the top of the homepage, thus making it easier to find for those already involved or looking to do so.

Good luck to all those taking part.

    Group B permutations

For Solomon Islands to NOT qualify, they have to lose to El Salvador by 56 or more AND Netherlands have to defeat Spurgentina by 74 or more. Hot favorites!

For Netherlands and El Salvador: If one of them wins and the other loses, they are through. If both win or lose, it comes down to a three way Goal Difference (too complicated to write)

For Spurgentina to qualify: They need to defeat Neterlands by 24 or more and hope El Salvador lose, in that process hopefully having a higher GD than El Salvador. Still a reasonable chance.

That's the spirit. I think we did pretty well to run the Netherlands so close this week - seeing as they had 7 Agueros (and captained 6)! We'll be back to winning ways next week.

    Repost: Group A permutations

For Spain to NOT qualify, they have to lose to Tahiti by 75 or more and USA have to win. Clearly the favorites.

For USA: If they win, they are through. If they lose, they have to ensure the loss is less than 110.

For Tahiti to qualify, we HAVE to win and hope USA lose. If USA win, we need to ensure our win is higher than theirs by 151 goals (almost impossible). A loss will see us out.

For UAE to qualify: They need to defeat USA by 110 or more AND hope Tahiti lose. Bring on the punts, Sheikhs!

Actually. If USA win, we need to ensure we win against Spain by 75 or more. Spain gets knocked out

It was absolute scenes, I assure you. Esp on the BSWC chat.

At one point, it was 380-380. With no captains playing, could have been 1 point apiece.

Then it somehow became 381-380 in Japan's favor, which saw japan partially celebrating.

Then came along Dadoune's magical and unexpected 6 points off the bench.

And....the rest is history! Congrats on qualification.

    ***SENEGOAL PRESS CONFERENCE***

Reporter: Morning Christina, very different circumstances then Friday when we were sitting here?
Any reason why Senegoal had such a lackluster performance vs Iran losing 459-448?

Christina: No one could have predicted the Vorm red card, the 3 Lukaku yellow cards in our team and of course Canadian Football having an off day and only scoring 28 goals. We had so much bad luck this round that if we fell into a barrel of boobs we would come out sucking our thumbs.
On the bright side Forca is back on form again and scored the second highest(89) this round from all the players.

Reporter: There are rumors back home in Dakar that the fans were very unhappy with the team selection for the Iran game. What's your response to that?

Christina: Most of our fans get behind us and are fantastic, but those who don't should shut the hell up or they can fly over here and come round to our hotel and fight us.

Reporter:The permutation is simple for Senegoal's last round fixture with Brazil. The winner is through to the next round. The loser shares a flight home with Ukraine. Are you feeling the pressure?

Christina: To put it into Gentleman's terms, if you have been out for a night and you are looking for a young lady and you pull one, you have done what you set out to do. We didn't look our best today and we didn't pull a lady. Some weeks the lady is good looking and some weeks she is not. It doesn't matter what type of bird we pull next week, we HAVE to get her into the taxi. Even if she is not the best looking lady we end up taking home or if it wasn't very pleasant.

Reporter: Good luck with pulling a lady.

::::: TEAM BRAZIL PRESS CONFERENCE :::::

Reporter - Wow, Zepinho that was some performance from your lot out there today... you finished as top scorers of the week... you must be absolutely delighted with the win and to still be in with a shout of qualification?

Zepinho - I am very proud of the lads, I sent them out there with one objective, do Brazil proud... and they didn't let me down... I had some very difficult decisions to make with regards to benching, and in the end I made the call to drop those without Aguero... it turned out to be the right decision... commiserations to Ukraine, they played very well, but they just came up against the better team on the day... in any other group they probably would have qualified... it just goes to show the superior strength and competitiveness of this group...

Reporter - The first half in particular was amazing for you guys, how did you manage to get them so fired up?

    Zepinho - Cocaine.

Reporter - 😯 ... eh... do you have any left...?

Zepinho - 😆 I'm joking, of course... I would never condone such actions... (Zep sniffles as he wipes his nose)

Reporter - Do you have anything to say to Team Senegoal?

    Zepinho - Yes...

    BRING IN ON BIATCHESSSS!!! 😀

Japalad: If you had just gotten yourself an email, as we asked, you would be in on all team conversations. Everyone on the team is in the know of our general strategy except for yourself. We, of course, respect your decision not to have email, but you, sir, must respect the consequences on choosing not to get one.

In benching Rumples, yes, it was regrettable this week. We bench players who take hits. Everyone who got emails knew this would be a policy, Rumples included. rumples knows he will play the very first week he doesn't take a hit.

Hits, captaincy, defensive coverage, and general team condition are taken into account. This, of course, is helped by our team sending us weekly emails on their teams condition.

It cost Tahiti as well. Thomass was saying he wanted to have no hits in the team and that meant 3 Agüero (C)s were on the bench.

no disrespect to your team strategies ENR, but, swapping Sturridge for Aguero is the more logical choice even if it was for a hit [given their current form] ... still, the hit could have backfired

tbh if it's not for a captain I can understand a lot of hits don't pay back in a single week but this week it really was a case of Agustin, in form against a poor team, at home, bookies clear, clear favourite to score, top of captain poll etc.

So yes I agree each case needs to be looked at individually. This make zepinho's tactics all the more impressive because he went for it with the aguero (c) all starting, and brazil got the top score of the round.

well, as i said earlier, it could've back fired too... i, was anxious about agustin's playtime myself.... glad it paid off [but, never was certain]...
in your team's case the risk [calculated ;)] paid off

We can announce that earlier today, the Ukraine press conference was interrupted in a rather distasteful way. It is our understanding that a recently departed Ukraine team member may be behind this incident, although nothing is confirmed as of yet. We will let these disturbing images speak for themselves:

*** TEAM SPAIN PRESS CONFERENCE ***

Reporter ~ Great win over the weekend for Spain, but how did you feel about being benched for the big game?

MerseysideRED ~ Well, at first I was quite shattered to be honest. I didn't take the news to well and spent the night getting drunk on the beach, violently abusing supporters of the UAE who had flown in to witness the spectacle first hand.
But in the end it was a great tactical move from our wonderful manager which paid off incredibly in the end.

Reporter ~ With 2 games played and having notched maximum points, Spain are all but through to the next stage of the tournament. How far will we see you go, is Tahiti any chance of stopping your unbeaten streak?

MerseysideRED ~ Simple answer really, you will see my teammates and I after the final whistle of the Beach Soccer World Cup holding the trophy high and dancing the flamenco all night long.
Tahiti by then will be at home of course watching our triumph on their televisions, because they stand no chance against the wrath of the Spaniards come this weekend. I am actually looking forward to them playing us into even greater form.

Reporter ~ Which names can we expect to see on Spain's team sheet?

MerseysideRED ~ That really is up to the manager to decide, but will be without doubt the strongest possible lineup. That's all I can say.
Anyway I really must be leaving we have a busy training run scheduled to start any minute now that I must get to.

Reporter ~ Well thankyou for your time, and good luck for the rest of the tournament!

quite natural for a Spanish side to be honest.... they do tend to put another starting VII in the Non-starting bench...... Causing an internal competition amongst the players which results to an unsatisfactory performances by all..... 🙂

    ::::: Tahiti Press Conference ::::::

Reporter: Afternoon Thomass, any reasons on why you lost so badly against USA and did you expect to lose?

Thomass: “I just thought we never got going really,". "I thought in terms of our tempo and technically we were nowhere near the level we have been at and it is obviously very, very disappointing having lost our first game it was nowhere near our standards”. "I didn't expect us to lose. We have been tremendous great, in training the boys looked up for the game but we were nowhere where we'd expect to be but today, from the first whistle, we never really got going and we suffered from that."

Reporter: What positive can you take from this game?

Thomass: "I think that is the big positive from today is the fact he is back and is available from next week, we can also take a positive from ENR score with a total of 79, I was poor(the worst) 😉 That's it really we were really poor.

Reporter: How delighted are you to have SuperOscarBabyy back?

Thomass: “I'm absolutely thrilled to have my vice captain back, I think he's a great leader and he will help us on the field, he's a very honest lad, with him coming back that's a bonus”. "Sometimes players like him can make the difference so it is going to be great to have him back and a real boost to have him back from Saturday onwards.

Reporter: Is your vice captain fit and will he be ready for Saturday?

Thomass: "He is in good condition. We have arranged a game for him and he will turn out for the u21s today he is doing a lot of specific work with the our fitness team which is lead by Rakuwa and HeyDudes.

Reporter: Have you had a bust up with anyone in the dressing room and is he 100%?

Thomass: "He is not going to be 100 per cent but he is a worker and a fighter and his condition is good. "He just needs to get games to bring him up to speed."

Reporter: Will you make wholesale changes against Spain?

Thomass: “Me, Daniel and Oscar Babyy will make some changes and we will discuss it ourselves, it's not something we need to go into public and tell everyone what our starting XI is”.

Reporter: Does it damage your chances to qualify?

Thomass: “No not really I believe in the players they won't let me down and will give me 200% I'm very confident in my players doing the job.

Press Officer: One final question please.

Reporter: Ok, do you have a message to Team Spain?

Thomass: “We are coming for You”

Press Officer: Thanks for coming to the press conference.

Thomass: “Thanks for coming along, we will do the Tahiti nation proud” 😀 #COYTits

        @Elnino

        Re permutations you said...

"For Netherlands and El Salvador: If one of them wins and the other loses, they are through. If both win or lose, it comes down to a three way Goal Difference (too complicated to write)"

But, if we both finish on the same points we (Netherlands) will finish ahead according to the rules as it says that head to head record takes priority in the rules. Right?

We have 2 wins and you and El Salvador have 1, so if it came to a 3 way tie it could only be if El Salvador beat us and you beat Spurgentina. Then we'd have one win each over Spurgentina and the other win would be over each other like a mini triangle.

A smaller version of this - http://imgur.com/oGtMJF2 where you can put every PL team in an endless loop and each team has beaten the next one in the loop. Kind of nuts that it works out like that after 10 games.

If you both lose then it will be a 3 way triangle for second in the group with Spurgentina, where they beat you, you beat El Salvador and El Salvador beat Spurgentina.
