PlayON Gameweek 17 – One Team, 30 Fixtures, £1,000 Guaranteed

PlayON, the weekly Fantasy football game, is rolling out a Bumper Gameweek over the festive period, which hands Fantasy managers the chance to grab a share of a guaranteed £1,000 prize pot.

Rather than pick a team for a single weekend’s action, your selected XI must take into account the upcoming three Gameweeks – essentially, we have 30 Premier League matches to consider when assessing our festive selections. The deadline for picking your team and entering the £1,000 guaranteed game is this Saturday morning at 10.45.

While £1,000 is the guaranteed pot, once 200 people enter the pot will continue to rise above £1,000 for each additional entry, so be sure to share and tweet this article to your Fantasy Football friends to grow the prize pot to well above £1,000.

The Bumper Gameweek kicks off on Saturday December 21 at 12.45pm, where Liverpool host Cardiff at Anfield, and ends on Sunday December 29. By taking the upcoming three rounds of matches into consideration, PlayON have made matters intriguing for Fantasy managers. If you select Luis Suarez for Saturday’s clash with the Bluebirds, for example, the Liverpool forward is also on board for the next two, which sees Brendan Rodgers’ side face trips to City and Chelsea – clashes which will test his current form to the full.

Jose Mourinho’s side also have a game against Arsenal over the PlayON Bumper Gameweek and, according to our season ticker, their fixtures are rated second most difficult over those three games.

Indeed, looking at the ticker, the top four sides for favourable fixtures over the PlayON Gameweek are Aston Villa (sto, CPL, SWA), Man United (WHM, hul, nor), Tottenham (sot, WBA, STO) and Everton (swa, SUN, STO), which suggests it could be a worthwhile tactic to target some of their regulars.

Manchester City are also in the mix as they look to recover from the loss of Sergio Aguero. A trip to Fulham precedes back-to-back home games with Liverpool and Palace and indicates Manuel Pellegrini’s men may find themselves on PlayON radars.

What’s also worth bearing in mind here is the Suspension Tightrope. If you’re looking to invest in Roberto Martinez’ side, for example, it’s worth noting that three of their players – Tim Howard, Gareth Barry and Ross Barkley – are all one caution away from a single match ban. A booking in either of the first two games would lessen their availability to just a couple of matches.

City’s David Silva is the most high-profile player with four yellows to his name. The playmaker is sure to be considered by many in light of the above-mentioned schedule but he’ll need to be on his best behaviour in order to ensure he remains in contention for all three matches in the PlayON Gameweek.

If you’re new to PlayON and interested in getting involved, read this season’s introduction article for more information. As always, we’ll be publishing our recommended player picks for the Gameweek in our regular Friday lunchtime article tomorrow.

If you’re ready to starting selecting your XI, you can pick your team here.

So he's useful for a period of 5 years MAX and then he is sold on for a loss.

This isn't the Manchester United way...

It's not the good old days anymore where the other clubs don't have that much money. Manchester Utd need to compete financially as well as competitively in the league and that isn't the way to do it.

Fergie barely ever bought a player over 27. Berbatov and RVP were the only exceptions to that in recent years.

Utd have the most money in the world and biggest sponsorship deals, nobody can compete financially without making losses. Utd are about to negotiate a new 1 billion deal with Nike.

Utd were happy to spend 100mil in summer on Bale.

No chance Falcao will leave Monaco already. Chelsea are probably going for a striker though, it just isn't Falcao. Likewise, Thiago Silva, keep on dreaming. Barkley, I doubt that as well. Just starting to get things happening at Everton. Diego Costa? Why would they even buy a new striker? And why would Diego Costa leave CL to compete for his place in a stuffed Liverpool attack just before the World Cup where he could represent Spain if he stays at Atletico?

I predict none of your predictions come true.

Vincent Tan is not Nicola Cortese!! Big difference. This Tan guy reminds me of those idiotic chicken farmers who run Blackburn.

Well at least Tan has got Cardiff into the Premier League...

Blackburn are a mess. It's a great shame to be honest because they have an alright team, one hell of a centre forward and with a better board and manager they could be promoted...

The Adkins sacking draws more parallels with the AVB sacking than this Mackay incident in my opinion.

Britains sport journalists seem pretty certain that Utd will sign Reus in January.

I will be very surprised, he is not what they need.

What another number 10? When they already have Rooney and Kagawa

Britain's sport journalists are also just trying to make a headline.

Won't happen. They need a good winger to play opposite Valencia, a creative midfielder (not a number 10 like Kagawa and Anderson previously were - they cannot be converted to a centre mid) and a left back.

For the most part, British sports journalists haven't got a clue about what's happening in mainland Europe and seem strangely proud of the fact (cf. Daily Mirror).

There's no way that a creative player from Borussia Dortmund would sign for Man United after their treatment of Kagawa, which has been discussed in negative terms by both Dortmund players and management ever since the move.

You can add Chelsea's almost permanent benching of de Bruyne, who was one of the Bundesliga's best midfielders this season, and Spurs' stop-start selection of Lewis Holtby. There's no advantage at all, particularly just ahead of a World Cup, for a creative Bundesliga player to move to a Premier League club and watch their career get stifled.

And that's leaving aside the growing belief that moving from Germany to England is no longer automatically considered to be a career advancement. After all, the Bundesliga provided both Champions League finalists last season, and have got all four clubs through the group stages this season.

Anyone watch a lot of La Liga? Is Diego Costa worth 30m or is he just having one great season?

You could have asked the same question about Soldado last season and got positive answers - look at him now.

These guys in La Liga are hard to judge as potential transfers because they don't necessarily work out well in the premier league. I highly doubt Messi would be able to replicate CR7 in the Premier League.

I did a -4 to chuck out Terry for Ward and fund Shelvey to Silva. So far, so good.

Zabaleta and Rooney as injuries rendered early transfers very stupid. Keeping Rooney, but decided Zab had to go. Only he didn't, bec/ price not near dropping.

I think I know why I suck at this game now.

Early transfers are one of the very best ways to increase overall transfer value. Occasionally injuries will make this policy look daft.

This would be my realistic Utd team for next summer:

    De Gea

    Rafael Jones Evans Baines

    Bender Koke

    Reus Rooney Januzaj/Kagawa

    Van Persie
