We bring you the draws for the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX and FFS Members Cup IV, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after the qualifying rounds for both competitions took place over Gameweek 27:

First of all, entrants with a score of 56 points or more have earned a spot in the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX. If you scored 55 points, it was then down to overall rank to decide whether you progressed.

Our defending champion, Tdubb05, gets his title defence underway against stocherilac this weekend. Looking at some of the other previous winners, Jonty plays djt, MCH is up against Jambo 17, Donnellyc has cflanesra, Wild Rover goes head-to-head with Chobber Slops FC, whilst Gooner Dave has been drawn against JW.

Some of the plum ties amongst the community include Chu Young Ping Pong v Acquafresca, Bubbles against Yes the Sess! and Accounting on Chris v Attila the Bum.

Four of the current top 100 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are in the hat for this weekend’s matches. Gambiteer, Justoutsidethemoney and Forbes are amongst those high-fliers as is world number two Tom Fenley, whose opponent, Alistair, currently sits around the 23,000-mark.

Entrants with a score of 58 points or more will have made their way into the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup IV. If you scored 57 points, it was then down to overall rank to decide whether you progressed.

Defending champion Acquafresca is up against Caladan Brood, whilst another former winner, Fuzzy Dunlop, goes head-to-head with The EJJ in Gameweek 28.

Amongst the notable community match ups, contributors Big Dunc and In Tommy We Trust face up to EpicFail and Chu Young Ping Pong respectively, whilst Dino’s clash with Bootsy and Thomass67 against Absinthe also catch the eye.

Once again, Tom Fenley is the manager to avoid in this cup. This time, he’s up against tmidrew who, with a rank inside the top 4,000, will fancy his chances of causing an upset. You can click here to view the First Round Draw.

      It depends on how many DGW players you can fit into your squad without the wildcard. If you could I would try and get as many players in as possible for GW31 without the wildcard and then use the wildcard to clean up your team for the remainder of the season.

          If you need to take more than 2 hits then probably consider wildcarding for GW31.

        I don't really see the big need to clean up after GW31. You can have 3 pool, 3 city, mata, hazard, adrian/mannone, a hull def. A perfectly good team for GW31, and not a huge problem for the weeks to follow either.

        In the end it all depends on which teams you can pull together for GWs 29 and 31 without too many hits. You might go for a solid GW29 and then clean your team up for GW31 with your WC instead.

        I wouldn't ditch Yaya as he's an amazing DGW option, AJ less so. You could also ditch Kolarov if you don't fancy him for DGW. I wouldn't take a hit, just play what you have.

          Stoke usually have a decent defense... in terms of pure 'leaky defense'... both Cardiff and Fulham look to concede goals in 30 but Cardiff aren't scoring in general, so Richardson should feature as well ... personally I see the Nor v Stoke game as either a 0-0 or a 1-1

      Depends what players I'd be benching. If I wanted to keep all the players on my bench for the DGWs, I'd stick. If there was one I'd like to switch with another player, I'd spend the FT.

    Has anyone else really struggled with the 5th midfielder position this season? It seems that no cheap midfielder has been consistent for any period of time. This season I've had Barkley, Januzaj, RavMo, Whittingham, Sterling, Januzaj (again) and now Ince. It's annoying because they don't offer many points (and aren't in your starting XI that much) and you need to waste transfers to sell them. At least they've helped with team value. Who is everyone's fifth mid at the moment?

      Better to just go for someone cheap that gets the 90 in case you have to play a sub, use the extra cash on the D.... there are typically more CSs in the second half of the season as well.
      Options of consistent 90 in low price range (bearing in mind the BGWs) are Bentlab, Colbck, Delph, Johnson (nor).
      If you want to stretch out a bit.... Snoddy, Richardson, Ince and Sterling could be decent options in the longer term

        Yeah I'm thinking the best strategy is just to get someone as cheap as possible who is guaranteed to start like Jedinak, Colback, Noone etc, I went with Ince as a pricier 5th mid because I need him for GW29 and he has no blanks and a DGW.

          Seems like a decent plan... he seems to have some of the better fixtures through the BGWs as well.
          Thereafter a Colback etc could free up enough cash to bring in a Toure in place of a Silva, an Aguero in place of a Roon, an Ivan in place of a Dawso, Chico... better to field a better playing 11

      I had the same issue for the first half of the season and for Jan WC I decided to change tack. I figured you could get more points for 4.5-5m from defenders than midfielders. I spent fairly big in defence and got Pozuelo as 5th mid to play third sub every week.

      It's working well so far.

      At one point I had Dikgacoi.

      Now it's Noone, but his biggest impact on my score has been the time I played him ahead of AJ who got 11 points or something.

      My best fifth mid ever was Jamie O'hara when he was on loan at Pompey. Barely played him, but still got a few assists out of him. A loyal bench servant, he was.

      Think you could do with getting a keeper for Davis.
      You could get a doubler for GW31 or someone with decent fixtures to give Szczesny a break.
      Think they would easily cover the imaginary 4 points needed for the transfer.

        I'm not convinced you should use your transfer on a goal keeper when you only have 5 players. I would sell Kolarov or Silva if I were you.

        I've currently got Mannone and a non playing keeper so will probably just go without a keeper for GW28 & 29. After GW29 there will be 3 DGW's for Mannone so it will probably average itself out in the end.

    Over the next 3 I want to do:

    Mata or Yaya -> Snoddy?

    Yaya seems the obvious pick but he's a great dgwk option whereas Mata is probably less appealing but does have a game in 29..

    Sheesh. Looks like I'm out of the cups in the first round then - one of my opponents finished 18th in the world last year (although admittedly he's in a similar (i.e. poor) vein of form as me currently) and the other one has had 16 green arrows in the last 17 weeks! Since GW10 the only week I'd have won a head to head against him was GW15!

        Current rank is meaningless - the current form (i.e. gameweek ranks) is relevant I reckon. That's the measure I'm getting crushed on unfortunately 🙂

    I'd rather keep Eriksen or a potential haul vs Cardiff but my plans can't take another value loss. So think I'll get Ince (swa, SOU) for the next 2. Anyone think Snoddy (avl, STO) is a better choice?

    RVP stating the obvious that players getting in his way, MOYES your playing people in their wrong positions for the sake of your shite system which is reliant on good wingers who can cross, Young and Valencia are rubbish and it's not working, it's boring, it's predicatable, 4-4-2 bla bla bla boring!. That is up there with one of the worst performances i have EVER seen. PATHETIC.We create no chances under Moyes.
