The Weekend Team News

Jack Wilshere is ruled out for several weeks, though Aaron Ramsey is due back next weekend for Arsenal. Robert Snodgrass and Ricky van Wolfswinkel return to training for Norwich. Scott Parker is ruled out for Fulham, who also have concerns over Kostas Mitroglou and William Kvist following international duty. Marouane Chamakh emerges as a strong doubt for Palace, Phil Jagielka is unlikely to make Everton’s cup clash with Arsenal, whilst Laurent Koscielny is a doubt with a hamstring problem:

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere sustained a hairline fracture to a bone in his foot whilst on international duty for England in midweek. Following scans and further investigation by the FA and the Gunners, Arsene Wenger confirmed earlier this morning that Wilshere will be out of action for around six weeks. Wenger had some good news on the injury front today, though, after revealing both Aaron Ramsey and Kim Kallstrom are expected to be available for next weekend’s north London derby trip to Tottenham. Elsewhere, the Arsenal manager also admitted that defender Laurent Koscielny picked up a hamstring problem whilst with France and is “a little doubt” to face Everton in the FA Cup this weekend.

Roberto Martinez has given an update on Phil Jagielka’s hamstring injury ahead of Everton’s cup tie with Arsenal, suggesting that the defender is “very unlikely” to feature at the Emirates this weekend.

Norwich’s injury worries have eased ahead of the weekend visit of Stoke, with Robert Snodgrass and Ricky van Wolfswinkel both returning to training following wrist and knee injuries respectively. Chris Hughton remains hopeful that the pair will come through training without any issues prior to selecting his squad. Meanwhile, the Canaries boss is confident both Joseph Yobo and Martin Olsson are fit to face Mark Hughes’s men after withdrawing from international duty in the week. Leroy Fer, Jonas Gutierrez and Michael Turner remain sidelined.

Tony Pulis has revealed that Marouane Chamakh is a doubt for the weekend. The forward suffered a hamstring injury at Swansea last week and the Eagles boss isn’t holding out much hope of the Moroccan being available, suggesting that Chamakh is “struggling.” Pulis also admitted that there are “one or two other niggles” around the camp and a late decision will be made on their availability.

Reports suggest that Fulham’s January signings William Kvist and Kostas Mitroglou both picked up hamstring injuries whilst away on international duty this week, with boss Felix Magath expected to check on the duo’s fitness ahead of the six-pointer with Cardiff. Magath will decide on Mitroglou’s inclusion against Cardiff after conversing with the club’s doctors. Scott Parker is out of tomorrow’s showdown after sustaining a knee injury in training, Fernando Amorebieta is also unavailable with a muscle problem, whilst Damien Duff may not feature again this term due to a knee injury.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

    Currently got nine playing this week. Already done Koscielny to Evra. Worth a hit to get a keeper in for Adrian or Mannone? If so, who would you dump and who would you bring in?

          well if you're gunna play mannone then it might be worth it to ditch adrian for a hit
          but if you're gunna play adrian then i'd hold onto both since you'll want mannone for his two dgws later

    Everyone seems to be ditching Kosh, I think I'm keeping and ditching Cahill next week instead.

    GW31 - toughts, improvements?

    Adrian (Mannone)
    Baines, Coleman, Kosh, Bardsley (Ward)
    Yaya, AJ, Mata (Hazard, Johnson)
    Suarez, Sturridge, Lukaku

    Might end up playing Hazard instead of Bardsley tough.

    Good to go?
    So my 3 transfers this gw (I have a WC, so they're all short term)

    Vlaar ----> Bassong
    Cazorla -----> Lallana
    Sturridge------> Jay Rod
    (-4) (money is no object I'll have 8.8 in the bank after these transfers)

    I could have done Sturridge to RVP, but
    1) his 'injury' scares me
    2)West Brom are going to press like Olympiakos so I can see them not getting a lot of joy in this fixture.

    Should I buy Mutch, Noone or Bradley Johnson as a cheap fifth mid?

    Mutch and Noone have a better fixture, but both are not exactly nailed on, with Mutch returning from injury and Noone picking up an injury last week.

    Bradley Johnson is nailed on though, but doesn't have a better fixture than Mutch and Noone, who are facing a weak Fulham side that leak goals. However, saying that, Norwich score more goals than Cardiff, and Bradley Johnson is probably more likely to get more minutes.

    So, with the risk of Mutch and Noone, would you get Bradley Johnson instead?

    I'm just confirming that this is a bad move... Or should I go with it?

    Current defence
    Cahill Azpili Coleman Ward Mollson

    Thinking about:
    Azpili/Cahill -> Smalling for -4.

    I'm currently doubled up on Chelsea, is it worth it to get a United defender that will have 3 matches in the space of Chelsea's 2 and he's cheaper than both so it frees up funds for me..

    I'd do it for free, not sure about a hit.

    Anyone want to pointlessly speculate on Snoddy's chances of playing? xD.... Hughton was quoted as saying:

    “Robert is another one that will train on Thursday. He obviously came off on Sunday at half-time but that’s fine, so we’re hoping that he will come through today and certainly be available on Saturday.”

    To me this sounds pretty positive and I swear wrist injuries don't usually rule people out of playing unless they're severe...

    Not much I can do now if he doesn't but I'm just interested tbh.

    Is it worth it to get rid of Mata for DGW as I need to bring in Yaya?

    Just taken a -4 to do mertesacker to Evra

    Way I see it is it gets me an extra player this week for -2 points with the possibility of a nice score (clean sheet and assist possible although not probable), it also still gives me the same number of DGW'ers for 31. Arsenals fixtures are dreadful, although man u's aren't much better but I might as well take the player with an extra game.

    Seems logical!

      Evra will outscore Mert by more than 2 points over the next 2 weeks easily, good transfer.

      Ivan and Evra is an expensive partnership and you also have Coleman, you are spending big in defense

      suarez aguero sturridge? 😉

      I think of your options i'd go sturridge and then double up with silva and yaya in midfield

    So looking at this week - I have a transfer available and was thinking of punting on a mid, any thoughts on the "dirty half-dozen below". (Budget 9.3m - Mirallas out)

    ps I have a w/c to sort out any mess later on!

    A) Holtby (real 6 pointer at Cardiff & good fixture in GW30)
    B) Zaha (see above)
    C) Brunt (likes the odd long range effort WBA at home - play best on counter attack)
    D) Snoddy (enough said)
    E) Walters (pen man, Stoke on high from last week)
    F) Eriksen (already have Paulinho - but seems to be a the centre of everything)

    Could save transfer, but this would guarantee 11 players this week

    (One last try to squeeze a bit of mileage out of this)

    Brian Blessed brought Snodgrass in last week. He's just heard the news:

    I think I've cracked it for DGW31 (no wildcard):
    Adrian
    Baines, Distin, Smalling
    Yaya, Hazard, Mata; AJ
    Suarez, Aguero, Studge

    Mannone, Noone, Chambers, Parr
    0 in the bank

    Keeping Baines until the end of the season. Planing to get a chelsea defender (Azpi) for GW33.
