World Cup Dugout Discussion – Matchday One

The wait is over. The World Cup kicks off with the host nation, Brazil, facing up to regular dark horses, Croatia.

The tournament favourites lineup as expected, with the likes of David Luiz, Oscar and Paulinho the familiar names alongside Neymar – the Barcelona starlet sports the armband for Fantasy managers far and wide this evening.

The Croatians have the talent to ensure that tonight’s opener will be a cracker, although the loss of striker Mario Mandžukić to suspension for their first group match is a major blow. Hull City’s Nikica Jelavic leads the line for European side, while Šime Vrsaljko is perhaps the surprise inclusion in their lineup as Danijel Pranjić drops to the bench to make way.

Brazil: Julio Cesar, Dani Alves, Thiago Silva, Luiz, Marcelo, Paulinho, Gustavo, Hulk, Oscar, Neymar, Fred.

Croatia: Pletikosa, Srna, Corluka, Lovren, Vrsaljko, Modric, Rakitic, Perisic, Kovacic, Olic, Jelavic.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I could be wrong in saying this but the orders of the players on the pitch view is that they are in order of when they play. This is why neymar and oscar are the far left on the pitch. Now the problem is as we go further through the round we have more players playing. So taking the example of forwards and when they play to demonstrate. If you have four forwards and in order of playing they are neymar, rvp, messi and lukaku. You have the formation set up of 343. U will put in neymar rvp and messi first as they play before lukaku. This will appear as
    Neymar rvp messi.
    Currently reading
    Neymar 14 rvp messi

If it continues in the same way of taking the player out of the far right then after all three have played u could face this scenario
    Neymar 14 rvp 2 messi 14
The game would take out messi if u change formation. So to stop this the only way to do it is when both neymar and rvp have played u change formation then. Change to 2 and put in messi in for rvp. You could try another way of changing rvp to Lukaku and this would put messi second as it should always go in order of when they play.

Its only my take on it and i could be wrong but if it helps anyone avoid the occurence of losing a high scoring player then its worth it.

My players who have already played are arranged on the pitch view in points order with the lowest scorer on the right. If this continues to be the case it will be the lowest scorer who is subbed out when you switch formation. Isn't that what we need ?.

Is that a different order than you had placed them in before they played? Did McD change their order automatically?

Great news if so - solves a lot of problems!

Does it put the players who haven't played yet before or after the ones who have played?

The players who have played come first in points order followed players who have yet to play in match date order with the latest on the far right of the pitch view

          For my defense it's currently

          Alves 5 points
          Srna 4 points
          Alba (6 Hours)
          Cholevas (1 Day, 3 Hours)
          Cheillini (1 Day, 9 Hours)

Unsure, but it's extremely unlikely that I placed all my players including the subs in date order by chance.

It hasn't changed the order of my defenders - Alves (5 points) is still to the left of Alba (6 points).

So perhaps your players were already in that order (which could easily happen if you placed them on the pitch in the same order that they were listed on your bench, since the order on the bench was probably the order in which they were to play).

However they have not yet deducted the 2 points from Alba's score for conceding 5 goals, so the process is not complete, and Alves still being to the left of Alba proves nothing.

I've just discovered this article on totalFPL which performs various experiments on a shadow team and answers a number of our questions:

                http://fantasyfootballfirst.co.uk/world-cup-2014/mcdonalds-fifa-world-cup-fantasy-football-rules-dont-tell/

Among other things, it shows that the players' positions do NOT automatically change. For example, it shows that Marcelo (4 points) remains to the left of David Luiz (7 points).

Okay guys. I'm really confused with this formation change issue. People are saying the player who's at far end of the RIGHT side of the relevant position drops out. Right side for our screen or starting 11 team point of view?

I mean technically it's Left Winger, Left Midfielder & Left Back dropping out right?

It's for the Mickey D game and right side of the screen, ie left back etc.

Has anybody who had a Brazil or Croatia player as captain last night tried changing to a different captain ?. If so did you lose your captains points for the original player ?.

It says in the round 1 article that in the Fox game Brazil have a DGW. I'm pretty sure they don't, given that their next game against Mexico is listed as 'Round 2'.

    Can anyone confirm?
