The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Next up is Demi who is looking for feedback on this team:

De Gea/Hamer

Mariappa, Wisdom, Davies, Debuchy, Terry

Mata, Sigurdsson, Eriksen, Hazard, Albrighton

Diego Costa, Rooney, Diouf

Demi says he is pretty set on having David De Gea and a non-playing keeper, and it’s one of the few positions that have remained constant in all his drafts. Juan Mata, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Christian Eriksen and Eden Hazard have all featured strongly in most of his thoughts too, but, apparently, he could be persuaded to start the season with Cesc Fabregas and use the extra cash to upgrade his defence. Speaking of which, John Terry is the one certainty in Demi’s rearguard: the others are more doubtful. Demi is currently undecided as to whether to keep an Arsenal defender in his side, with Debuchy his current preferred selection.

Up front, Wayne Rooney is locked in, but Demi has been really struggling for inspiration on the other two forward spots. Diego Costa seems as good as any option for the first three or four games; he’s not keen on Olivier Giroud or Edin Dzeko with their respective fixtures. Would he be better off downgrading Costa and instead focusing on solidifying his defence?

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMTs throughout the day on this article.

Rodwell is a defensive midfielder, no fantasy points there

      Debuchy's early fixtures aren't good

you want a good 3rd striker... or you will

RMT would be much appreciated, tinkering is getting out of hand.

    DDG - Foster
    Cahill - Vlaar - Debuchy - Wisdom - Moore
Mata - Ramsey - Siggy - Hoilett - De Jong

if you have DDG, downgrade Foster to a non-playing 4.0

downgrade Hoilett to a 4.5 - Albrighton or Marney or some guy at Aston Villa or whatever

upgrade one of Wisdom or Moore to a 4.5 so you have defensive backup on the bench... and preferably change out Vlaar as well so you have two 4.5s that rotate welll (e.g. Stoke & Swansea, Newcastle & Sunderland, QPR & Crystal Palace) or someone who has decent fixtures after week 3 (which Vlaar does not)

Not sure what to do with the other money in the bank, but I'm sure you'll find something to do with it within 2 weeks of transfers

    Begovic, Krul
    Jones, Ward, Ferdinand, Naylor, Wisdom
    Mata, Hazard, Silva, Eriksen, Tiote
    Rooney, Diego Costa, Bojan

First of all Ward/Ferdinand is a great pair and Naylor/Bojan makes also sense. Begovic/Krul isn't the cheapest pair, but Begovic is maybe the best Potters-option if Cameron isn't nailed? Siggy has also been in my team many times, but I'm still not 100% sure about him. Ignoring Pool and Gunners could be disaster, but playing without City or Spurs cover scares me more than ignoring Sanchez or Sterling. Any thoughts?

Pretty good, although i'd probably try to rotate your 4.5m defender with one of the 5's.

I think Austin might be a touch too expensive to rotate @6m.

The defenders rotate quite well. Also Looked at the Villa options and bojan upfront instead of Austin. Think Austin rotates ok with 5th mid. I'll check back.

Hmm starting to seriously consider rotating my 3rd striker and 5th mid this year for the beginning of the season. Bojan and Siggy rotate well, albeit it means an expensive bench player each week.

    Krul, Elliot

Huth, Taylor, Coloccini, Van Aanholt, Wisdom

    Fabregas, Mata, Ramsey, Eriksen, Siggy

    Rooney, Costa, Bojan

1.5m in the bank, which means everyone bar RVP is one transfer away. Have my eye on getting one of Aguero, Sanchez, Hazard or Ozil within the 1st 3 GW's, but for now a wait and see policy I think may be best.

Will Ashley young play much with Shaw starting LWB? he has definite goal potential after the pre-season i watched. interesting.

Sterling is going to be imense this season. Im just holding off until i see how they fare without LS. Having tough games against City and Spurs in the first 3 fixtures doesn't encourage me.

while that might be true, eriksen has set plays and that's where he was deadly last season. with big targets upfront, set pieces are important part of spurs play.

As they are both 8m, Eriksen is definitely the more solid choice. Had Lamela been at a Chamberlain lvl 6.5m he would be more tempting.

Arguably he should be around the 6-7m mark. not sure where FPL got 8m from.

looks good. monitor 4.0 defenders, you might find some better options.
      although u can't expect much from a 4m investment.
u can downgrade cahill to luis and spend the extra .5 on upgrading saylor (doubt he will start)
and even vert -> ben davies and then do saylor -> debuchy or a 5.5 utd defender (evans or jones)

        Thanks for the feedback

I wasnt sure Bavies was nailed on with Rose signing a new deal.

Would love you get a Utd defender in but already have 3 Utd

sorry, missed that 3 utd players part. i guess davies is nailed. spurs fans complaining rose is terrible at defending and davies also is poche signing. so i expect him to start.
debuchy must be then for 5.5
others would probably suggest the likes of ward, shawx, lovren, calker (personally not a big fan of defenders with attacking potential from poor teams, as attacking returns are unpredictable and don't feel comfortable with that)

    RMT please

    A
    Foster (Myhill)
    Luis/Baines/Evans (Duff/Hutton)
    Mata/Hazard/Ramsey/Siggy (Albrighton)
    Rooney/Dzeko/Pelle

    Or

    B
    Foster (Myhill)
    Luis/Chester/Pieters (Duff/Hutton)
    Mata/Hazard/Ramsey/Siggy (Albrighton)
    Rooney/Costa/Dzeko

Longer term I think A but in weeks 1&2 I think B might better.

Any advice would be appreciated. thanks

      B
I'd downgrade hazard to fab (or even eriksen/lamela) and spend .5 on a rotating GK for foster (say krul). Or even spend the extra .5 to upgrade foster to bego (too many injuries in wba defense at the moment to trust their gk week in week out). Not the kindest schedule neither.
Then upgrade pieters to a 5.5 def (utd or debuchy). Or change to davies.
Read that pieters might not be 100% long term with muniesa likely to get some game time

Thanks. I see Pieters was subbed for Muniesa tonight but he then got injured. Fab might play deeper so that might be a wait and see move. Agree about WBA defence but loathed to spend too much on GK.

i'd say bego is worth the extra .5 over foster especially given their fixtures in the first 12 weeks (I think)

These players are not nailed on to start

      Mannone (Pantillimon recently signed)
B Davies (competing with Rose at LB)
Luis (Last years successful Chelsea defense could start)
      Wisdom (Gamboa recently signed)
Duff (Apparently a new CB might be signed)

Who is Arfield? never heard of him
      Nugent has tough opening fixtures

I didn't rule him out, there is a question mark. If you think he's good, explain why?

Kolorov not guaranteed to start. Young likely to play wingback but classed as a midfielder so no cs bonus. Not convinced Jovetic will play much.

downgrade cameron to 4.0 and upgrade krul to bego.
vlaar to coloccini if u keen on newc defense (or keep vlaar if he moves to SOT / Spurs / Utd). Coloccini rotates well with O'Shea.
Giroud to Bony? Giroud doesn't seem ready for the start of the season.
Dzeko to Jovetic if u like to take a punt and free up extra .5
