This evening’s Members article takes a look over the action in Sunday’s Community Shield showdown between Arsenal and City. Having assessed Alexis Sanchez’ display our lunchtime Technical Area post, we delve into the data to discover for any hints of form ahead of the weekend Gameweek 1 deadline.
yes
Open ControlsWhy has Pellegrini paid £32m for a player who can't even get in a mediocre France team? I much prefer Nastasic, to be honest. Sometimes I think Pellegrini is in his own little world.
Open ControlsKoscielny doesn't start for France. Doesn't mean anything.
You'll get to see Mangala this season and your views would be changed come the end of the season.Open Controls
Yes.

thanks for the analysis.
CR7 hat-trick tonight btwOpen ControlsMore proof if it were needed City are starting slowly ...
Open ControlsWhat is the best option for 4.5 from either CPL, SOT or STOke?

Graeme Souness with the worst beard of all time.
Open Controlswhats the best way to organise a cash ML with friends? how do you lot go about it?
Open ControlsDepends how mature they are. If they're good mates you trust, just make sure you agree in advance exactly what the entry is and how the money will be won (just overall winner? Manager of the month awards too? Anything for second place?)
If it's mates and acquaintances, I'd insist on getting the cash first. Maybe set a deadline of the GW2 deadline. I can recommend this app for collecting the money:
http://www.payfriendz.com/
Your mates can register on their spartphone with just their name, phone number, and date of birth. They can then top up the amount (for free), send it to you (for free) and you can either keep the money on your account or withdraw the money to your bank account (for free).Open Controlsgreat idea to use an app. cheers. will look into that

I've not been following things that closely in regards to rotating* cheap defenders and instead of just writing "which is the best cheap defender rotation", I decided to do a bit of research and check the fixtures, pre-season and managers' comments and put it to you lot to shoot down. Since we're talking about cheap defenders, I didn't get to scientific with my analysis.
From the teams with players I am mostly confident have nailed-on players for 4.5m**, here is what I consider to be the best rotating pairs for the first 10 weeks in rough order of preference:
SWA/HUL
HUL/QPR
STO/SUN
SWA/SUN
NEW/HUL
Notes:
- Cameron would be my choice from Stoke and I am not really sure he will start vs. Villa. His versatility should see him get a fair amount of gametime, but I'm still not completely confident.
- Taylor would seem to be nailed-on for Swansea
- Rio is my pick at QPR. I don't think he would move to a promoted side to sit at the bench at this stage in his career.
- Coloccini is my Newcastle pick
- Chester would be my Hull pick. Any thoughts on Rosenior being an alternative?
- O'Shea is my man for Sunderland
At the moment I am thinking of going with Swansea/Hull or Hull/QPR given the doubts over Cameron.
*I define rotating based on difficulty of fixture, not just home/away, although of course home/away does influence how I assessed the fixtures
**I may well have missed something so please chip in if you feel you know better. I have ommited AVL and WBA as I think they either don't have players for 4.5m or less that are nailed-on for the whole of the first 10 weeks (WBA) and I wouldn't play a defender from that club in my team (AVL), although Hutton will probably be my 5th defender.Open ControlsHelpful post as always trigger
I appreciate he's 5.0 but for me Caulker stands outOpen Controls5m for a defender from a promoted side is too much for me. Goal threat is too unpredictable with defenders to invest another 0.5m
Open Controls
Pva for Sunderland
Open ControlsWhy? What advantage does he have over O'Shea? Is he nailed-on?
Open Controls
Cheers tinkerman, always helpful posts.
Thinking about going pva NaylorOpen ControlsI really want a Sunderland defender but my (crude) analysis is tempting me to go with a Hull defender given their propensity to get predictable home clean sheets.
Open Controls
Lovely Tink. This is my sort of analysis. KISS method ftw 😉
Open Controls
Probably wrong time for this but:
If United's attacking forays come from the wing backs, does it mean that Mata in the hole becomes less effective?
Thinking it might favour the 2 strikers, lots of crossesOpen ControlsWe all know at some point we will have to put in at least one of Aguero, Sturridge or Toure could really mess up teams that dont have one
Open ControlsWill be Aguero for me when he's back. Sturridge slightly too pricey to justify at this stage. Think I'll go with Coutinho instead.
Open Controls
Evening all. What would you do differently with this?
De Gea | Myhil
Kos | Debuchy | Duff | Vlaar | Wisdom
Sanchez | Siggy | Hazard | Mata | El Ahmadi
Roony | Costa | Bojan
I don't like having a keeper who won't play and I'm not sure if Duff and Wisdom will be in the first XI.
Don't mind wildcarding in GW3. £0 in bank. Defence and cheapie mids/attacker rotate quite well.Open ControlsDon't like the double arsenal defence
Open ControlsPlease post on the RMT threat,

From previous thread...
Is going Ramseyless a bad idea? Rationale, Crystal Palace at home will be tricky given the way Pulis sets his sides up. They will sit, they will frustrate and restrict Arsenal to few chances. I can see only a 1-0 win in this game for Arsenal.
After that they have Everton away, a fixture they lost 3-0 in last season and an incredibly tough place to go.
Watch and wait?Open ControlsI agree to some extent but he just played man city and got a goal/assist
Open ControlsNot the same. That was essentially a friendly against a make shift back line. I'm not denying the fact that he's a quality player but I can see Crystal Palace making things difficult but ultimately losing by the odd goal. Everton will be the same.
Sometimes the fixtures aren't quite as they seem. I'm persuading myself to look elsewhere for now.Open Controls
This really is a classic player/form over fixtures.
Open ControlsArs 1 - 0 Cry.
Ramsey goal. 10 points.Open ControlsYou just know he'll do well though. Fixtures are irrelevant for attackers in the top teams. After Hazard, he's the best midfielder to own imo.
Open ControlsHe will do well and is one of the best to own. But during the first two games I think he'll struggle to have an impact given the style of the teams they are up against.
Hazard and Mata for me.Open Controls
Wouldn't be that certain of a tight game, Pulis or not... No reason Arsenal couldn't put 3+ past them at all.
Open ControlsIf they get an early goal they could. It's a possibility of course. I just know from experience of watching Pulis sides for years that he sets up his players to sit and defend in these games. They restrict the space and reaply do make things difficult. I think we lost 3-1 at the Emirates once, the rest of the time it was by the odd goal.
What was the score last season?Open Controls
I'm going without him. Would be tough vs palace and Everton.
Hoping for a price drop so that I can pick him up before Leicester.Open ControlsGlad I'm not the only one.
Open Controls
Was going at the same ppg as Suarez last season just about:/
Open Controls
What's the earliest we're likely to see Aguero back starting?
I'm split between Dzeko and Jovetic... Prefer Jovetic but know Dzeko's the most likely to keep his place once Aguero's back..Open ControlsI just wouldn't go there with either dzeko or jovetic
aguero will be back for gw2 v liverpool.Open ControlsReally? Pellegrini said he wouldn't rush him back
Open Controls
I don't know if it's clear that Dzeko will keep his place. We don't have much to go on from last year. Jovetic is back and firing, it's like they have a new player.
Open Controls
Would you rather..
A) Eriksen + 2x 4.5m defenders
B) Ramsey + 2x 4m defenders
Thanks!Open ControlsB
Open Controls
Jovetic numbers are quite enticing, he might be worth a punt... does anyone know how long it will take Aguero to be match fit?
Open Controlsi'd take a guess and say he will be back gw2 v liverpool
Open Controls
Possibility of getting trolled by LvG is worth having young at 5.5
Open Controlswhen do the games today kick off then ?
Open ControlsSterling ownership is 27.7%
To me he is overpricedOpen ControlsI thought so too, originally. But you have to price him on a par with Oscar and Nasri, really.
Open ControlsAs a Liverpool fan, I think he will be our most important player this season and that he will step up in the absence of Suarez. Sturridge will be top scorer for Liverpool, but I think Sterling will be the one to really make a name for himself.
As for FPL, he's currently in my team, but I don't like Liverpool's opening fixtures, so I may have him from GW3.Open Controls
"Aleksandar Kolarov (11) pushed far up the pitch from left-back and was as advanced as Edin Dzeko (10) when on the ball."
As their average position was equidistant down the pitch, then this sentence suggests that Dzeko and Kolarov were equal in position when off the ball as well. Seems somewhat unlikely.Open ControlsOh gawd I'm getting tempted to put Kolarov in my team. HELP ME
Open ControlsWho do you think will score the most points
A)Dzeko
B)GiroudOpen Controlsit really annoys me that the login to members isn't seamless.
Is this something ffs can have a look at?
I can probably help if you need itOpen ControlsFabregas to start with.
Open Controls
Only four days to go and I'm as uncertain about my team as ever.
Open ControlsI think my team is a little better, I got rid of siggurdson so that I could upgrade costa
Open Controls
Glenn Hoddle is employed by everyone.
Open ControlsHa.

Having made the call that keepers aren't worth the hassle and got with the minimum spend of 8.5 if Evans is injured (why no news)? Evans ➡ Smalling
