Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 7

Our Monday regular is rolled out once again, as we scour the Premier League treatment rooms to assess the players who picked up injuries over the weekend action.

Aston Villa
Gabby Agbonlahor was named in the starting XI to face City but was forced to withdraw prior to kick-off due to illness.

Burnley
Right-back Kieran Trippier is set to be assessed after he was stretchered off with an ankle injury during the 2-2 draw at Leicester – after the match, Sean Dyche was hoping the injury isn’t as bad as first feared.

Chelsea
Thibaut Courtois was subbed off midway through the first-half of yesterday’s win over Arsenal due to a head injury. The club have since confirmed the keeper has been given the all-clear after undergoing precautionary tests and is expected to turn out for Belgium over the international break.

Crystal Palace
Scott Dann is set for knee scans after being forced off just 12 minutes into the weekend loss at Hull.

Everton
Steven Pienaar lasted just 64 minutes of the weekend loss at United before being forced off with a possible recurrence of the thigh injury that had kept him on the sidelines since Gameweek 2. John Stone was stretchered off at Old Trafford, with Roberto Martinez a little worried in his initial prognosis:

“It’s a ligament problem in his ankle. We are going to assess him in the next 48 hours. It’s such a massive blow because, as you have seen today, he plays with an incredible arrogance and great maturity. It’s not for me to say yet [whether he will be fit for England] because we need to get the medical department to assess him. But for him to come off, then I don’t expect John to be fully fit for next week.”

Hull
Ahmed Elmohamady was subbed off in the dying minutes of the weekend win over Palace due to injury.

Leicester City
Esteban Cambiasso missed out with a recurrence of a knock picked up at Palace last week. The Argentine had previously been passed fit by Nigel Pearson but was unable to make the squad for the 2-2 draw with Burnley.

Man City
Fernandinho will be assessed after picking up a hamstring problem during the weekend win at Villa, Manuel Pellegrini confirmed post-match.

Man United
Luke Shaw was withdrawn midway through the second half of United’s win over Everton yesterday but after the match, the left-back revealed he expects to turn out for the upcoming internationals:

“It’s not a bad injury, it’s a dead leg on my knee. I felt it in the first 20 minutes when I got caught but it carried on during the game so I thought it was probably best to come off before it gets any worse. I spoke with the doctor and obviously the manager as well and both feel it’s best that I do go [with the England Under-21s] as it’s not an injury that is going to keep me out. Hopefully, I should be training in the next couple of days and can get another two games of 90 minutes each.”

Post-match, it was also revealed that Paddy McNair had suffered a hamstring injury in the 2-1 victory. The young defender was forced to withdraw from the Northern Ireland squad for their forthcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers with reports claiming that he could be sidelined for three weeks.

Newcastle
Magpies right-back Daryl Janmaat has puled out of international duties for Holland after picking up a hamstring problem during the weekend draw at Swansea.

Stoke City
After overcoming a thigh problem for the trip to Sunderland, Victor Moses was subbed off with a recurrence of the problem, with Mark Hughes explaining:

“Victor came off against Newcastle on Monday and we had him scanned. Nothing showed up and we were hoping that it was just a neural thing but he felt it almost immediately and had to come off. We lacked his drive and the purpose that he’s given us in recent games and although him going off disrupted us, it’s not an excuse as we should have been able to compensate for that.”

Sunderland
Emanuele Giaccherini and Ricardo Alvarez missed the 3-1 win over Stoke through injury and post-match, Gus Poyet admitted the duo, along with Seb Coates, “are going to be out for a while”.

Tottenham
Kyle Naughton was an early casualty in yesterday’s win over Southampton – the right-back was subbed off midway through the first period after sustaining an ankle injury as a result of a challenge from Ryan Bertrand.

Got to laugh at Vincent Cable as he warns people that other party leaders would be "lying" if they promised certain things (Libdms conference)....This brought to you by the party that brought us the student fees riots...You couldn't make it up sometimes.

Did Hazard --> Di Maria last night. Couldn't handle any more price rises on him, and as a Utd fan his constant stream of double digit hauls was making me sick.

        2 reasons I think.

        1) there are 2 international games in between. Doesn't make sense. Anyone could get injured.
        2) makes the market volatile, for no particular reason, which then accelerates the market further

I realise price rises could force your hand if you're bang on the money, but that often isn't the case.

But that doesn't shield you if you already own international players who could get injured. What if you make your free transfer and then Costa gets injured?

I bought Welbeck on Saturday... THREE games to play before his the first time I get points (Chels/Eng/Eng). 😆

Daft.. but I was exact cash for him and Baines. 😕

Last International break I waited all the way to the end, and then got in Balotelli instead of Costa because of the Costa injury worries, and it basically ruined my season. Sometimes waiting too long can be bad.

The lack of price change information is a real problem. I have the exact funds to do my transfers but obviously want to wait as long as possible. Not doing them tonight but I'm going to have to do the transfers earlier than necessary to be safe.

      0 goals.

For all his good performances, and Hazard's slow start, Hazard has pretty much matched him.

      Goals are king in FPL.

I've kept faith with Hazard all the way, I was getting frustrated with him but seeing that he's 2 points behind Fabregas given the clamour to get him in shocked me.

I'm sticking to my misfiring guns and not getting ADM in, the easy fixtures have gone, lets see how they do against the big guns.

yeah ADM is the easiest to lose

            Keeping him for MNF though

I sold him as a means to get Aguero

In fairness, question us, not ADM, we're talking about the guy who was MOTM in last season's CL final

he can do it in big games

I'd say still Bertrand even if you have Clyne. Don't know why people are so afraid of doubling up, sure it's high variance but Soton fixtures for next 5 are great.

A little advice if you don't mind

Defence is iffy to say the least

Clyne Duff Moore Wisdom *Chambers* 0.4 ITB

    A) Play two of Duff / Moore / Wisdom this week and roll the FT

    B) Get Naylor in for Duff

    C) Get Hutton in for Duff next week
