The Weekend Team News

Tom Huddlestone and Andrew Robertson are doubtful as Hull head to Anfield. James McArthur emerges as a doubt for Crystal Palace’s clash against West Brom, who look set to welcome back Ben Foster. Gus Poyet pledges to stick by Vito Mannone as Arsenal pay visit. Stoke suffer an injury blow to Glenn Whelan, while the Hammers are boosted by the returns of Cheikhou Kouyate and James Tomkins.

Neil Warnock has confirmed that James McArthur and Scott Dann are both doubts ahead of the Baggies clash. Dann missed the defeat to Chelsea with a knee injury, while James McArthur could also miss out this weekend after coming off against the Blues with a hip problem.

West Brom are boosted ahead of the visit of Palace by the return of Ben Foster. The keeper missed the Monday night stalemate with Man United due to a calf complaint but has since returned to training. Meanwhile, Jonas Olsson and Silvestre Varela are sidelined for the Baggies.

Gus Poyet has kept faith with Vito Mannone ahead of the visit of Arsenal, despite the heavy defeat inflicted by Southampton last week. Poyet also reveals that changes will be minimal, with “about 75%” of the side that started against the Saints retaining their places. Elsewhere, the Black Cats have announced the signing of Frenchman Anthony Reveillere, with the full-back set to go straight into the squad against Arsenal subject to international clearance.

Stoke boss Mark Hughes has revealed that Glenn Whelan will be sidelined for up to six weeks with a fractured leg. Meanwhile, Phil Bardsley is Stoke’s only injury concern after sustaining a back problem in last week’s clash with Swansea. Hughes remains hopeful the full-back will train later and be in contention to face Southampton.

Arsene Wenger has admitted Laurent Koscielny remains unavailable for Arsenal this weekend and is hoping to have his compatriot back after the next international break. The Gunners boss also confirmed he’s “not sure” over Theo Walcott’s involvement, though went on to say the winger will “certainly” be in the squad next week.

Cheikhou Kouyate and James Tomkins are back in the squad for West Ham’s meeting with Man City, confirms Sam Allardyce.

Steve Bruce has revealed both Tom Huddlestone and Andrew Robertson are “big doubts” for Hull’s trip to Liverpool. With Nikica Jelavic, Steve Harper and Michael Dawson ruled out in midweek, the Tigers boss concedes he may have to make “four or five changes” to the side that drew at Arsenal last weekend.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

Always best to sway towards the midfielder but seeing as it's QPR for Hutton, I'd be tempted to put him first.

2 FTs this week. I have Costa but I'm gonna hold for this week (unless he's out of QPR).

    How do these look?

Oscar may very well be the player to allow me to bring in Walcott without losing Sterling, Aguero or Costa a few weeks down the line.

I guess it is the nailed on part that is the only doubt though. He was benched in the away games against Everton and City. Is that because Mourinho prefers more muscle in the potentially difficult away games? I guess the line-up on Sunday may shed some more light on that.

    3. d1sable
      • Has Moderation Rights

Because he's not nailed on. That's about the only reason. Willian/Schurrle/Salah/Ramires too good to continually be benched

True. Their midfield hasn't actually become less crowded after getting Matic and Fab, and he only got about 2200 mins in the two last seasons. I'll keep an eye on him over the next GWs though. If there is a system that he is only rested in away games against "top teams", then I guess it is not too bad anyway. Experience has taught me that you can always trust Boyd to step in when he's called upon 😉

Let's forget all the speculation about Costa's injury and just pretend, for the sake of argument, that he's confimed out this week and returns next week vs. QPR.

By selling, there are realistically 2 routes you can take:

    1) Upgrade to Aguero. Arguably Aguero is a better player to own right now and the fact Costa is missing the game this week makes it the perfect opportunity

    2) You downgrade to one of the many budget strikers (Berahino and Sakho being the best two for the long-term, but you can always swap them around when the one you have loses form or has bad fixtures).

2 is obviously less appealing, but for those who already have Aguero and Pelle it makes sense when you consider that it allows a midfield upgrade elsewhere, e.g.

    - Siggy (poor FPL form and poor fixtures after this week) > ANY MIDFIELEDER YOU WANT including the relatively low ownership big hitters Hazard and Sanchez (or whichever one of ADM/Fab/Sterling you missed out on)

All this points towards selling Costa being the wise move, but I just can't bring myself to do it (yet) and I'm still thinking of holding onto him and hope he's back for QPR...

Well a look at his underlying stats for the last four GWs is worrying... could be that he starts shooting in the box again, but even so the fixtures are horrible as of next week. He would get 1 more week for me even if I sold Costa this week

Carroll back in 3 weeks. Hopefully Sakho will keep doing the business up to then and beyond.

This is my only concern with Sakho really. Just hope Carrols return doesnt upset the balance theyve found

I'm a bit unsure if I should get Sanchez or wait for Walcott.. or get none of them? My biggest worry is that Arsenal almost never score more than 2 goals.. even when they have a full squad healthy they usually play slow untill 60minutes and then score 2 goals, or they score a goal early and then put on the breaks.. this seems to be tactical and won't change as long as Wenger is in charge.. I'm thinking..thoughts? City, Chelsea, Liverpool and to some extent United and Southampton seems to be the teams that historically can win big by scoring 3 goals or more relatively often.

With Arsenal scoring 1-2 goals it's difficult to guess which of Ramsey/Walcott/Sanchez/Welbeck/Cazorla etc will be involved..

Sanchez is involved in everything good that Arsenal do. By far the best option at the min.
