Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 9 – Monday

Charlie Austin grabs both goals and Eduardo Vargas bags an assist as QPR see off Villa 2-0 at Loftus Road. Paul Lambert’s side fail to score for the fifth successive league match as popular budget option Alan Hutton misses out with an ankle complaint.

Austin at the Double
The R’s frontman was partnered by Bobby Zamora and scored twice as Harry Redknapp’s side climbed off the bottom with a vital home win over Villa. Owned by just 0.3% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers heading into last night’s encounter, Austin’s brace underlined how increasingly influential he’s becoming in recent matches – that’s three goals and an assist in his last four, compared to a single strike in the first five Gameweeks. With back-to-back showdowns against Chelsea and City in the next two, it’s fair to say few will be looking at the R’s right now, but with Newcastle, Leicester, Swansea and Burnley from Gameweek 12 onwards, the 5.7-priced Austin may yet persuade some he could be worthy of the outlay.

Vargas in the Points Once More
Having emerged from the bench to notch twice against Liverpool, the Chilean was handed a starting role on the right last night before moving up top in light of Zamora’s withdrawal. After teeing up Austin for the second, Vargas took his tally to two goals and a pair of assists in his last three appearances, but at 6.4, few will be willing to consider him over Austin, given that the latter also has spot-kick duties to bolster his appeal.

Ferdinand Benched Again
The centre-half was a sub against Liverpool last time around after sustaining a minor groin problem prior to the match. Despite his availability for last night’s encounter, Redknapp continued with Richard Dunne alongside Steven Caulker and was rewarded with a second clean sheet of the season, suggesting Ferdinand’s pitch time is in real danger, with his 4% of FPL owners looking for a way out.

Another Blank for Villa
The signs look ominous for the Midlands outfit after they failed to score for the fifth successive Gameweek last night. To some extent, it was understandable that Paul Lambert’s side had drawn blanks against Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Everton but hopes were high of a turnaround at Loftus Road, given that their hosts had conceded at least twice in six of the previous seven. Christian Benteke and co. once again failed to impress, and with Spurs, West Ham and Southampton in the next three, Fantasy faith in Villa’s main men is unlikely to pick up anytime soon.

Hutton Worry for Lambert
An ever-present over the first eight Gameweeks for Villa, the right-back was sidelined due to an ankle problem last night. Hutton is the most popular cut-price defender in the FPL game – now up to 4.2, he currently sits in over 13% of sides after serving up three clean sheets in the first four. Having conceded 13 goals and earned his owners four points in the subsequent five, a possible spell on the sidelines could be the ideal opportunity to part company with the Scot as Villa’s toils continue.

    Forster (Gilks)
    Baines, Clyne, Chambers (Naylor, Duff)
    ADM, Sterling, Siggy, Chadli (Boyd)
    Aguero, Costa, Pelle

    2FT, 1.0 in bank

Don't want to waste a FT and am considering bringing Sanchez in. I'd like to ship Siggy or Chadli, but don't have the cash, so it'll have to be Sterling or ADM.

Sterling - much more direct, and stats-wise much more of a threat. Fixtures are good, but Liverpool look to be in a degree of disarray.

ADM - scoring fairly consistently, but less direct than Sterling. I'm not sure if I'm conviced by Man Utd yet either.

I bought Sterling at 8.5 and Di Maria at 9.6 - so if I want to get either back in I will lose money.

    Any input either way folks?

Based on fixtures you would sell adm.

      Based on form Sterling.

Your team looks really strong, so your in a good position.

      Sell Sterling.

He will drop, Sanchez will rise.

Both are being transfered out so if that continues you won't loose that much if any if you buy either back. Utd. Have tough upcoming fixtures. I transfered out sterling for tadic and di Maria for sanchez.

why people say united have tought fixtures? besides man city all other are excellent fixtures. arsenal concede vs anyone why not vs rooney rvp falco adm? i think adm is a season keeper, no european fixtures no rotation class player imo

the problem is how are u going to ship in sanchez? u need 0.7m more to do sterling->sanchez. but not sure how u are going to fund the extra..unless u do Naylor->bruce and u have to do it quick b4 u get priced out.

      Not that long really!

So it's basically Tadic and Costa or Hazard and Pelle

I'd go for the first (obviously if Costa is fit).

but if costa is not fit this weekend is B a good last minute swap.....

wanting to double up midfield for chelsea if he doesn't play. Want Schurlle but I can afford Hazard who is probably more likely to score pts

I'm just worried now with costa because any more drops means i lose 0.1m

            subs poor... wisdom, boyd, targett

yes id get him back. do a reversal probably

Wisdom coming in as first sub isn't too bad IMO.

Anyway, I prefer A, but if Costa's not fit, then B looks solid.

    Afternoon all.

I'm in new for me (enviable) position of having 2 FTs, but unsure what to do. £0.00 ITB

    Bego - Gilks
    Baines - Clyne - Chambers - Hutton - Moore
    Fab - Sterling - Siggy - Tadic - Boyd
    Aguero - Costa - Pelle

Does anyone have any ideas? Have been thinking about WHU defence and the possibility of an Arsenal attacker?

    Thanks in advance.

Yup, but West Ham is on form so I would go with Adrian over Bego 😛

But as a fellow Siggy and Sterling owner, I am contemplating whether to keep...

Siggy's fixtures turn bright after the 3 games... and Sturridge is coming back soon

If you really feel like you could do with an Arsenal attacker, which is probably a good idea, I'd take out Sterling and Siggy and replace one of them with an Arsenal midfielder, Sanchez if possible.

Nope. United will not shell up after next week (post the Etihad that is) so Di Maria will break forward more. He's a keeper for me, lots of shots (from poor locations though) and a high assist potential.
While we're yet too see if Sanchez's role will be diminished when he shares the spoils with Walcott. And he's not going to be able to capitalise on such errors every week.

After this GW ADMs next 4 fixtures are -

    CPL ars HUL STO

Why would anyone sell? Im looking at buying him next week. The only reason u should sell is so that his CP decreases for me.

Right, I'm going to to Sterling and Siggy to Sanchez and Downing now, I don't want to mess about with waiting and falling foul or a price rise or fall, not worth the risk of missing out on the transfer altogether. Fingers crossed nobody collapses in a heap tonight or tomorrow!
