The Dugout Discussion – Newcastle vs Liverpool

Gameweek 10 begins at St James’ Park for a fixture that, a few weeks back, would have looked decidedly one-sided. Today, however, Newcastle host Liverpool off the back of two unlikely away wins at Spurs and Man City, while the visitors limp to the North East nursing indifferent form and fragile confidence.

Bizarrely, the match will be compelling viewing for all the wrong reasons. Many will want an uneventful encounter, with little or no contribution from Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling. Having suffered heavy sales going into today’s Fantasy Premier League deadline, the 19-year-old will undoubtedly provide the biggest threat to a Magpies rearguard that, despite recent form, has failed to convince. Sterling is without a goal in his last four outings and many Fantasy managers will be hoping that run is extended further, watching today’s match from behind the sofa.

The early kick-off is followed by six three o-clock encounters: sadly, we’re without a tea-time clash to see us into Strictly this evening.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Agreed. Decided after QPR game where he got lucky he got an assist.

Too many inform options to be clinging to someone who is not in form playing in a shocking side atm

My decision to sell was based on Balotelli.
No movement makes it easier for defences.

Hopefully Newcastle defenders will be both low in ownership and low on the bench order this GW.

With several names out, they could have a serious impact on OR.

Played Foster over Krul...who'd have guessed...I normally do play the home GK over the other. Well done tom those who stuck with him-at least he's now looking like a good choice keeper.

I did Sterling->Hazard. Still no guarantees Hazard(c) will beat Sterling's score.

To be fair, I was nervous. I feel for him - Liverpool look a shell of a team right now, confidence just draining from them and Gerrard just doesn't seem to have it in him to drag them through matches now.

A 19-year-old can't carry the team and, sadly, he's fading badly as a Fantasy asset until Rodgers revives them.

Is it to early to swap him straight for Walcott, or go via Mane/Tadic? Will Sterling fall? Selling now will cost me 0.1

Okay Sterling gone now but for who?

    a) Nasri
    b) Eriksen
    c) ADM (would need to downgrade Pelle or Baines)
