PlayON Picks – Gameweek 11- FREE ENTRY £500 POT

Our Friday regular arrives a little later than usual today, as we analyse the PlayON player price list ahead of tomorrow’s 10.45am deadline. Below we offer a couple of picks per position: one essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

PlayON is this week re-introducing tackles, interceptions and clearances to its scoring matrix. It is also reducing the points for clean sheets to 3 per minute played so more weight is put on individual player performance rather than team performance – view the revised scoring matrix here

PlayON is also running a Free Entry, £500 Winner Takes All game this week – which you can enter here.

Goalkeeper – Ben Foster
The stopper looks crucial to West Brom’s chances at home to a Newcastle side that have won their last four in all competitions. Having kept a clean sheet away to Leicester last week, Foster will be looking to defy the in-form Magpies and deliver a fifth clean sheet of the campaign – available for only 6.1m, the Baggies number one, who was the highest scoring keeper in PlayON last weekend, looks an excellent budget enabler. West Ham’s Adrian (6.9m) is another cut-price contender to consider. Granted, the Hammers have been far from convincing at the back and managed a single shut-out this season but bearing in mind visitors Villa have scored once in the last six and are missing the suspended Christian Benteke, Big Sam’s side could be in line to deliver the defensive returns.

Defender – Gael Clichy
The Frenchman is set to continue at left-back for City after Aleksandar Kolarov was ruled out for at least a month with a calf complaint. After starting the last three, Clichy bagged the assist for last week’s winner against Man Utd and, at a price of just 7.5m, he represents a cheap route into the champions defence for their trip to QPR. Having conceded just five times this term, and only once at home, Southampton’s defence is on the radar as Leicester roll up to St Mary’s. Whilst Toby Alderweireld doesn’t offer the attacking threat of his defensive team-mates, at a mere 6.8m he looks excellent value against a Foxes side that have failed to score in the last three.

Midfielder – Nacer Chadli
We call upon the Tottenham midfielder for the second time in three Gameweeks due to his very reasonable price tag. Chadli netted his fifth league goal of the season last weekend, yet whilst team-mates Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela are priced at 10.8m apiece, the Belgian sets you back just 9.0m at home to a Stoke side that have shipped six in the last three on their travels. For this week’s essential midfield pick, we return to Southampton. Dusan Tadic (10.2m) has produced a goal and six assists in five home appearances for Ronald Koeman’s side and the Serbian will fancy his chances against a Leicester side with a single clean sheet all season.

Forward – Diafra Sakho
After missing last week’s draw against Stoke with a shoulder problem, the West Ham forward looks set to return in time for a very favourable home encounter against Aston Villa. Sakho has scored seven times in eight appearances since arriving at Upton Park and, at a lowly 8.0m in PlayON this week, looks an absolute steal against a defence that’s conceded at least twice in each of their last six. Sakho’s acquisition also helps to enable this week’s essential striker, Sergio Aguero. At 15.0m, the City forward may be the most expensive player in the game but up against a QPR side that has conceded more goals than any other in the Premier League, it’s difficult to see him not bringing home the points.

I have a transfer to burn this week and was considering Schurrle to Navas... everyone I've told have all made a 'hmmmm' sound... but what do they know?

He'll turn into Walcott after the International break when I re-jig, so definitely worth a punt this week IMO

the way i read the hull defence is robertson got injured for the liverpool game, hull won 1-0. brady drew a lot of praise for how he filled in and bruce even said he'd be one of the first names of the teamsheet the week after.
brady kept robertson out v southampton but his reviews weren't great for that match and some even said robertson injected some life into the match when he came on at the end. i think robertson will come back in and brady's route into the team would be at ben arfa's expense who really didn't get good reviews at all or mcshane's expense with a formation tweak

solid moves i think. you can look at hazard a couple of ways. scary as he hasn't turned up this season at all yet is still knocking along at 5.4ppg, or ... well that he hasn't turned up at all really

Someone had to make way for Sanchez and it had to be him really. 7 PPG for Costa and seems to be nailed-on for 90 mins for the next 2 games... shouldn't require too much thinking

Stats that you may find interesting :

    Alexis Sanches in

    Udinese scored 20 goals - 6 home - 14 away

    Barca scored 38 goals - 30 home - 8 away

    1. Goodfella
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 7 months ago

Sanchez is a counter attacking player, he can really exploit space in behind defenses and inbetween defense and midfield, so in away games when teams are more open, it will suit him more.

I wouldn't be surprised if most of the goals he scored at home for Barcelona were their 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc goals. It would be interesting to see first goalscorer stats for Sanchez, I'd imagine he scored the first goals (more telling of their contribution IMO) more often at Udinese than Barcelona.

Anyway, I digress, I think he'll score fairly evenly at Arsenal home and away wise, he's already got 4 at home and 3 away so far this season (?).

    Jakupovic - (Guzan)

Wisdom - Clyne - Baines - (Colo - Van Aa)

    Fabregas - Chadli - Downing - Sanchez - (Obertan)

    Aguero (C) - Costa - Pelle (Vc)

    Cheers!

Hi, I need some advice please. I have 0 FTs and 0.4 itb, and yet am concerned that my midfield is weak with no Sanchez or ADM.

Would you wc or take a -8 to make any adjustments to this team? My head says to wait, and use transfers in the coming weeks to adjust roster (selling Tadic and/or Pelle), but my gut is a bit worried that I could (again) lose out big points from Sanchez & ADM.

    Howard // Heaton
    Baines // Clyne // Chambers // Vlaar // Duff
    Fabs // Siggy // Tadic // Downing // Boyd
    Costa // Kun (c) // Pelle

    Thanks very much

Chelsea were really poor but still carved out a result. people can play poorly against QPR and win. theyre arent unlucky, as Redknapp says, particualry in the Liverpool game, they are just terrible. the formation they play is readymade for shipping goals. they will always get chances and i fancy them to score against city but city can play badly and kun can still destroy them.

I use a team of transfered or promoted players for something less intense and I'm surprised by the amount of newcomers doing well.

    Tadic// di Maria// Sanchez

    Sakho// Pelle// Costa

I reckon some peoples actual team is close to that. It's gotta be a worry coming up to the Christmas period. A bit away still but that's a fair chunk of a squad that's not used to the chaos around then.

I was just kinda highlighting the new ones but Fab is my other mid alright. That's a ridiculous front 7 to have atm like isn't it?

Last call, press conferences done, most exciting transfer of the week....

    PVA to Geoff Cameron...

unless can anyone make a case for Mcnair, Blackett, or S.Taylor as a rotating, but mostly bench fodder sub?

Too early for Cameron imo. His fixtures aren't good. One to consider for sure.

I know his fixtures are awful, but as I say he'll sit on the bench every week until January.

Baines - Clyne - Chambers every week.

Although, Cameron might come in for Chambers next game week thinking about it.

Fair enough, go for it if you have nothing more important.

I don't...I have 2FT this week so may as well use it, and PVA is out for a while.

Are you a United fan? Would you say getting McNair, or Blackett would be better?

I like the Cameron pick. Looks like he is attacking quite a bit when I watched the highlights. McNair seems a good punt while rojo is out.

I like McNair - and United have kind fixtures, but I'm not sure who will play between Blackett, and McNair while Rojo is out - I thought Blackett was the more naturally left sided player?

If you plan to stick the player on the bench till January, then surely pick the one who's 3,9m.

I was considering him, but have Krul, and don't fancy a double up, but nothing I can use the 0.3m to do - I have enough funds for Walcott after the International break.

i mocked someone for getting chambers last week. look how it panned out. Sometimes its those unattractive transfers that makes the most impact

Chambers is gold, 4.5m (well he was) nailed on defender in a top 4 team - obviously his goal, assist haul last week was an unexpected, and very welcome bonus
