KPI Analysis – Forwards, Last Four Gameweeks

In our third members’ article of the week, we turn our attentions to the player Key Performance Indicator (KPI) statistics. We delve into the data once again and, focusing our attentions on the forwards, assess player form over the last four Gameweeks compared to the first seven rounds of fixtures.

For the unfamiliar, these Key Performers Indicator (KPI) tables use a series of key stats to allow our members to track a trend in player performance as a guide to their form. By tracking the frequency of certain key statistics, such as minutes per chance, and comparing them over two separate periods of time, we can ascertain patterns of improvement or decline in these areas. For those unfamiliar, we’ve rolled out a preview movie which shows just how to get the best out of the KPI tables.

Anyone who sold him based on his "injury" alone did it for the wrong reasons.

      Here were my reasons:

      - Worse form in almost every statistical category in last 4 compared to first 7 gw's.
      - One of his biggest threats is from set pieces, and 3/4 next opponents are good at defending them (WBA, NEW, STO)
      - WBA, Hull, and Newcastle are more solid defensively than people think.
      - 4 YC's.
      - I have Oscar, who is performing better, particularly against the non-top 6 teams. He also shares FK's with Fabregas (50/50), plays more advanced, and takes alot more shots. Oh and he's cheaper.
      - Selling Fab allowed me to get Sanchez.

Note: not a single mention of his "injury" or availability in my list 😉

Well, in my first season, come GW11 my team value was 100.1m and I was asking questions like ; should I swap Mascherano for Cattermole because that's all I can afford.

Haha, happens with all of us. I remember that I used to make 3 or 4 transfers each week (in the first few gameweeks) because I didn't know excessive transfers cost you points! 😉

Haha, thanks for the praise lads.

The only FPL action I had was in my 1st year at uni when my flatmates had a league. I started a team but lost interest after gw2 i think. no idea how my team did after that as i never checked.

So this is in fact my first season, though I've been watching PL for a while, including ALOT last season since Liverpool were doing so well.

Before the season I read up on all the FPL-advice/strategy sites, and also spunked up the £15 for membership here. My gw1 team was pretty poor in hindsight (bad FPL players like Coutinho for example), but advice on here and frequent stat-analysis makes things easier.

It also happens that i have a mechanical engineering degree so i'm good with numbers, and base everything i do in FPL on underlying numbers 😉

His history says it's his first ever season. I reckon he's a regular who changed e mail for his FPL account because he didn't like a bad season on his record.

Haha I see you have a clear thought process behind every move you make. Nice 😉

He'll still keep ticking over which is good enough reason for me not to sell him, especially given his fixtures. I think the key is the final point you mentioned in your scenario, there's no way I would prefer him over Alexis though. And you know, Oscar is not for me 😉

    Sticking with Pelle-Aguero(c)-Austin

I think Austin's form and fixtures will off-set Costa's points, and Pelle can score against anyone imo. If Aguero gets injured I could move to Sturridge-Costa-Austin though which would be pretty excellent too 🙂

Sounds good, you should have a back up plan for Costa though - in case you need him.

Yeah, my backup plan is Tadic>Boyd + Pelle>Costa (-4), but I'd rather do Siggy>Tadic. I think not owning Siggy could backfire more than not owning Costa, particularly due to the price difference.

Especially with those fixtures coming up for Swansea. And there's always a chance he picks uo his next yellow soon. But we said that about Suarez last year and it didn't happen. Of course Costa is a different player - but having a back up in case the plan backfires will be helpful 😉

Does this team need more Chelsea, and if so is A or B the best route (after next deadline)?

A: Bertrand and Chadli > Yun and Oscar (probs over 2 GWs rather than hit)

B: Bertrand > Azpi, leave Chadli in place

    Current team:
    Foster/Guzan
    Chambers, Bertie, Baines, Duff, Moore
    ADM, Sanchez, Chadli, Siggy, Boyd
    Aguero, Costa, Austin

From what I saw he could easily have scored a goal or two. Got into some threatening positions.
If u punted on him u have to give him more than 1 week.
Anyway, when he scores this board will be full of.... Sakho to Kane, Berahino to Kane etc etc. This is the ultimate kneejeek site 😛

If you have outstanding grades, you will be made an unconditional offer, but if you are resitting any first year exams and the uni think you could potentially meet their entry standards, then you get a conditional. Basically you have to do well in AS year or you're f@ked.

When you're at a certain level (which clearly you are) you just need to put in the hours. Set a target - perhaps in hours of study. Meet it. And you'll get into that Uni. Out of interest, which one is it?

I haven't really looked at Oscar, probably because he burnt me last year.

if you did Welbeck to Austin would you have enough for Ramsey to Sanchez?

I had enough to do Welbeck>Austin and Fab>Sanchez and leave 0.3 itb, but i had 0.2 itb to start, and did it before Sanchez's last rise.

So, Giroud and Walcott back soon. I guess Sanchez won't be playing up front too much longer?

would disagree, he's brilliant. Cannot see Wenger playing Walcott through the middle, think Theo's deluded when he continually says its where he'd like to play. Henry was tall and rangy, Walcott's not.

No way, Wenger will play to optimise Sanchez. He's their most important player at the moment.

        Wenger has done stranger things.

He could still play in the hole with Giroud, and Walcott on the right. It's Wilshere, Ramsey and Ozil that will be the problem.

I think the left will be his position long term.

I can't either. Chadli was the only one close but I can't remember if I looked this morning or yesterday morning. Just call me Kammy.

It's a wait and see for me. Options like Sanchez and Haz make him difficult to fit in anyway. I'm not concerned that I've shipped him.

Yes, probably. I don't know how many of Balotteli's chanced he created but he was wasting his time.

Yeah think he will be a good option but gotta wait and see how liverpool get on first. To be honest, im not sure how id get him in now anyway.

Those with a cheap 3rd forward... Are you going to keep switching about or keep faith over longer patches? Getting the ones on form is key but it might not be so hard to predict. Thinking of getting Austin now instead of Sakho, but I don't really know if I can be bothered jumping on the merry-go-round and if it's wiser to hold Pelle

Austin's looked as dangerous as any forward in the game, outside of Aguero and Costa, since QPR introduced Zamora. I'd definitely sooner be on the inside looking out than the outside looking in at this moment in time.

I am at the low end of the cheap fwds and am not sure where I will go, tbh. Campbell and Welbeck.

The inability of any/many midpriced forwards besides Pelle to do anything of note has left Welbeck alone on an island as there are no real comparables for him now. I could downgrade him and upgrade Campbell but I have never spent so little on those two spots before and am unsure how much longer I can get away with it.

I think Austin is the obvious choice, or Sakho.

Austin started at 6.0 and is only 5.8 atm, on pens, great home fixtures, great home form, and QPR are playing well. Zamora feeding him loads.

Cheers for the trade offer btw, I'm considering it. Though I have to say I don't rate Vlaar at all. Villa can't keep CS's to save their life, unless they park the bus against a big-boy. Completely the opposite of what you want from a Def. Moreno is one of the best attacking Defs to own with the fixtures in mind.

Navas also has much better stats than Lamela, and is crossing and passing to Aguero who's in the form of his life.

        Will think about it though.

Austins stats stack up over 11 GW's, especially in home games. I'm gonna keep him for 8GW's so I can use him in LEI BUR WBA CPL in the next 8gw's.

Why not just buy him for GW13 then? I don't understand the people that are buying him the best part of 3 weeks early just to gain some value?!?

I did it because I had 2FT's and wanted to get in early for the rise since Welbeck had a tough fixture. It just so happened that the cash saving was enough for me to do Fab>Sanchez as well.
