Spot the Differential – Gameweek 12

As the Gameweek 12 deadline edges ever closer, we roll out another trio of overlooked options for your perusal once again. Our attentions turn to a couple of cut-price attackers looking to net yet again, whilst a fit-again City midfielder also makes his way onto this morning’s radar.

Samir Nasri

After a couple of months on the sidelines, the Frenchman has returned to action just in time for a kind upcoming run of matches for City. Afforded his first start since Gameweek 4 last time around, Nasri’s comeback has already diminished James Milner’s minutes and, as we saw last season – where he made 34 league appearances – Nasri, when fully fit, is a firm favourite of Manuel Pellegrini’s.

Certainly, with a single assist in six league outings, it’s fair to say that the midfielder has yet to find his form. As he begins to build up his match sharpness, though, Pellegrini will be looking to afford Nasri the same sort of attacking license that produced seven goals and 11 assists in last term’s title-winning campaign. Available for 8.2 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, he’s currently owned by less than 2% of Fantasy managers, but with showdowns against Swansea, Sunderland, Leicester and Palace in the next six, he seems one to monitor as the champions look to go on the offensive to keep their title tilt on track.

Ayoze Perez

Utilised as a brief sub in seven of the opening eight Gameweeks, Newcastle’s summer signing has hit the ground running upon his introduction to Alan Pardew’s starting XI. Handed his first start in Gameweek 9, Perez has proceeded to score in each of the subsequent three league outings, netting against Tottenham, Liverpool and West Brom as the Magpies ascend the table.

The young Spaniard has also earned six bonus points in the FPL game for his recent endeavours, and with Pardew keen to court caution with Papiss Cisse in light of his knee problem, Perez look in line to retain the lone striker role at home to QPR this weekend. Bearing in mind the R’s have conceded in every road trip so far, the Tyneside team will be looking for Perez to produce the goods once again and, available for a cut-price 4.8, he could well be worth considering ahead of a schedule which also sees him square up to West Ham, Burnley and Sunderland in the following five.

Bojan Krkic

Yes, we’ve been here before. The Spaniard’s stunning pre-season form had many eyeing up his acquisition but a sluggish start to life in the top-flight saw him tumble off Fantasy radars and Mark Hughes’ team sheet before August was over.

Over the last couple of Gameweeks, though, Bojan has finally settled at the Britannia and is looking instrumental to Stoke’s prospects in the final third. Handed back-to-back starts in the role in “the hole”, the summer signing grabbed a goal and two bonus points in a 2-1 win at Tottenham last time around and looks poised to retain his starting berth as Burnley come calling later today.

The Potters have now scored twice in three of their last four league fixtures, and with the fixture list turning nasty in Gameweek 13, a victory against the Clarets looks vital. Available for just 4.8 in FPL, he squares up to a side that have conceded more shots inside the box than any other in the last four Gameweeks, suggesting points could be on the horizon for anyone brave enough to roll the dice.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

regardless of whether he plays today.

assuming he will be back soon, there is no need to get someone else and get him in later as waste of 1 transfer or even more depending on team.

What the hell do I do? I have two free transfers so I really should use one or I'll lose it but I can't see a transfer I really want to make. I also have 0.8 in the bank. I know Baines, Fabregas and Downing are doubts but I don't want to get rid of any of them. I did have Berahino to Austin in mind so should I just do that and hope some of the doubts play? I'm planning Bertrand to Azpilicueta next week so I need to keep 0.5 for that. Never been this lost for an idea of what to do.

    Forster, Myhill
Bertrand, Baines, Chambers, Wisdom, N. Taylor
    Fabregas, Sanchez, Downing, Sigurdsson, Boyd
    Berahino, Aguero, Costa

Your defence can cope if Baines is out, so can your mids.

Austin for no hit is fine as you may as well use your FT rather than lose it. if Downing plays you're sorted. If not you have Boyd and then you can reassess Downing next week.

Guys, I don't want to start a panic... but... I've just looked @ everton's upcoming fix list & its actually quite evil:

    Sat - WHAM home
    Thus - germany away
    Sun - spurs away
    Wed - HULL home
    Sat - russia away
    Mon - QPR home

That's 6 games in next 23 days, including trips to germany & russia... Baines hamstring is going to get some good testing over that period!

Seriously considering transferring out Baines for Azpi or Ivan... I could see Baines getting 0-2-2-2 in his next 4 league games....

Or am I just trying to talk myself into something stupid?

He's only out for one week, not exactly crocked and he did it in Emgland training....with Baines clean sheets are a bonus, his attacking it the more important point...he's on set pieces so I can't see him getting 0,2,2,2.....I feel that your point of a busy schedule is irrelevant, sorry.

is there anyone who got Baines in for his CS potential after the start of the season?
they looked bad and conceded 6 against Chelsea etc.

I got him in for his attacking threat 🙂

Yep fair enough... I guess I'm trying to anticipate a 3 or 4 game points drought for Baines (which he is fairly prone to) & backfill him with Azpi/Ivan who ideally would get 15-20 points more during that same spell & viola, ranking is a few green arrows better this time next month 🙂 Best laid plans of mice & men & all that though... but I'm seriously considering Baines>Azpi or Ivan this morning for my FT. Imagine if Baines doesn't start & Ivan gets a Goal & CS & couple of baps... that's a 14 point swing just like that.

I'm really not in love with my team this week.

Every bit of me wants Hazard in, but I can't quite justify the -4.

Can see me raging after a penalty or two today!!

On the upside, my team will be outstanding next week...

3 Chelsea, 3 west ham, Di Maria, Siggy. So, off the top of my head, at least eight players with great fixtures

Fixtures are irrelevant if the player is in bad form. What happens if Chelsea or West Ham get beaten and don't score.....a red arrow for you. You've placed half your eggs in two baskets.

too many West Ham, do you have GK/Def cover, Downing, Sakho?
If so, get rid of either Downing or Sakho

3 West Ham is mental - 2 is more than enough, and 1 is probably enough. Zero's probably not too bad either
