It looks like everyone is buying Austin...surely Bony is more tempting with CPL and QPR in the next 2?

Most have Siggy already and I'm not convinced a double up would be effective. Plus, many have Naylor too.

The likes of Austin/Kane/Ings are much cheaper and provide better value imo.

Fair enough, I got rid of Siggy few weeks ago and thats why I am looking at Bony now, plus he could be a great differential (CPL and QPR have conceded the most if i am not wrong) but if Chadli is not fit I might get both, Austin and Siggy

Either Austin or Bony for me. The latter would leave me with zero funds, though.

I agree. Bony is in form and plays for Swansea, Austin plays for QPR and has a "Ulloa" feel about him. I might triple up and go Naylor + Siggy + Bony

Costa has been on four yellows for weeks now and people aren't getting him in cause of it and its costing them. Naylor might get his YC against QPR at home, meaning he will miss West ham away, a game where I would probably bench him.

His performance against City has blinded the market.

If he and his team can continue that form, he's worth the investment though.

subjective interpretation of the baps system is meaningless when it's governed by real numbers.

        1. Kerz
          • 9 Years
          9 years, 6 months ago

That was a not so subtle critique of the "baps" system. It fails to account for game-changing performances, the very essence of football, and therefore is inherently flawed.

Kerz is likely just ignoring all the negative things that Clyne did that the system didn't ignore which detracted from his score.

Not a slight against him, but easy to forget mistakes during 90 minutes of football when your judgment is clouded by one split second goal.

I think you're asking a bit much of a Fantasy football algorithm to demand it differentiate for such things.

No one is ever happy with the BAPs sytem. Plenty complained last year, plenty complained this year and plenty will complain next year.

I did too, but with a game that 3 million+ play you'll never satisfy everyone

For all its faults the man in the stands system caused less controversy than these algorithmic systems because a) it's often obvious to viewers who the man of a match was even if the stats don't back them up and b) it gave bonus to the actual game changers in a match

              Lets agree to disagree.

I don't disagree with that, I'm just saying that with so many players of the game they're not going to satisfy everyone. For all we know they find the man in the stands to be the lesser of two evils after this season and revert to that!

Hmmm, just logged in to see this. Not sure what moaning has taken place, but I thought he was the best player on the pitch before the goal. Pretty astonishing that Bertrand scored more highly when you consider the goal (granted Bertrand assisted it).

Only 3 bps difference between a goal and assist and those were accounted for with the YC and foul.

          Indeed.

As above, I thought he was the best player on the park prior, and certainly better than Bertrand. I expect it would be hard to find someone to disagree with the second part of that statement.

It is what it is though. People will just have to suck it up.

That's the bit I'm struggling to understand. He was outstanding, and comfortably better than Bertrand to the naked eye.

Man in the stand would have him MOM every time. Even before the goal he would have been in the three.

I have Begovic who has awful fixtures but I'd get rid of Forster prob too. Don't think Courtois worth the extra compared to Fabianski, and crucially, he takes up a valuable Chelsea player spot, for people who have or want the likes of Azpil/Hazard/Costa

    Pelle Aguero Costa

I, for one, am sticking with Tadic for at least another week.

I think he's unlucky not to get more assists and being Southamptons penalty taker (at least that's what i'm assuming) he still has a chance of racking up some points over this period of difficult fixtures, not to mention set pieces which United and Arsenal aren't great at defending.

Pelle I have already rid of, but Tadic I feel will keep adding the odd assist and goal, and with not many viable alternatives aside from the premium Sanchez, ADM, Fabregas, Hazard and maybe Yaya now, I feel he isn't worth taking a hit for, or even an FT if you only have 1.

Finally, if anyone watched the Villa game Tadic didn't play badly and, if anything, he may have more chances against the tougher teams as they wont be parking the bus trying to counter attack...this could blow up in my face over this period but I honestly couldnt pick an alternative other than Siggy (who I have already) or Oscar (but I have 3 chelsea players).

Any thoughts on this would be great, I might just be in my own little world!!

I applaud you for sticking to your guns and not doing the popular move. But I would say that Soton don't seem to have a team of tumblers so it doesn't look like they'll get a lot of penalties - maybe Koeman is one of those managers who encourages his players to stay on their feet (which also should be applauded).

Feel he could be a differential for me to up my 7.8k rank, hopefully! Point taken though, that's a good point, I've been waiting for a penalty for southampton for weeks, i'm hoping it finally happens during this period (providing he scores it aha!)

The only thing stopping me WCing this week is doubts over long term places for cheaper defenders.
Anyone able to offer insight into chances of 3.9-4.1 group holding down a place

      Yeah

First I saw him was 3 years ago bet ween Norwich and arsenal when rvp scored a brace. Was 3-3 heading into the final few mins and denied at least 3 stonewall penos. Clearly couldn't survive the tension. Knew he would be a fail
