Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 12 – Monday

Villa and Southampton share the Monday night spoils in a 1-1 draw at the midlands. Gabby Agbonlahor grabs his third of the season before a late Nathaniel Clyne strike denies the hosts all three points.

Agbonlahor the Villains’ Hero
The frontman capitalised on an error from Fraser Forster to notch his first goal since Gameweek 4 last night. Agbonlahor’s pace posed the Saints backline problems aplenty during the first period in particular and his strike means he’s now scored 50% (three of six) of his side’s goals this season. Given that Villa have netted just twice in the last eight matches, they’ll need to do far more to persuade us of investing – with Burnley, Palace, Leicester and West Brom in the next four, though, the fixtures are on their side, whilst Christian Benteke’s return from suspension in Gameweek 14 against the Eagles should help Paul Lambert’s cause.

Saints Full-Backs in the Points
Despite conceding for the first time in five league matches, Nathaniel Clyne and Ryan Bertrand still delivered for their Fantasy owners in the Villa Park encounter. The duo’s attacking forays proved vital for the Saints’ equaliser as Clyne lashed home his second goal of the season thanks to Bertrand’s cutback from the left – the duo now sit second and third for defenders in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game.

With 32% and 22% ownership respectively, Clyne and Bertrand are amongst the four most popular defenders in the FPL game but as the fixtures now take a turn for the worse, many are weighing up their options. Given that Ronald Koeman’s side face City, Arsenal, United and Everton in the next five Gameweeks now, the full-backs will need to continue their attacking raids, with defensive returns looking far less certain.

Tadic and Pelle Stumble Again
Hopes were high for the popular Southampton pair after the likes of Ron Vlaar, Philippe Senderos and Nathan Baker were ruled out through injury in the heart of the Villa defence. Pelle had one of his poorest matches of the season, however, and fired just a single attempt on goal – he has now failed to register one shot on target in the last four Gameweeks and with the likes of Charlie Austin, Danny Inga and Wilfried Bony appearing on our radars, last night could prove his farewell bow in many Fantasy teams. The second most popular forward in the FPL game with 31% ownership, Pelle’s appeal is also dampened by the fact he remains on four yellow cards – just one caution shy of a single-match ban.

Tadic’s place in our squads is also uncertain. After blanking in seven of the first 11 Gameweeks, he needed a big performance last night to stay in our Fantasy plans – another lacklustre blank suggests there’d be no surprise to see him appear amongst the most transferred out before the next deadline is upon us.

    Sup guys!

    Bego
    Dummett Chambers Clyne
    Sanchez Siggy Downing Hazard
    Aguero Costa Pelle

    Chester, Kelly, Marney

0.7 ITB and 1 FT, don't mind taking a hit. What would you prioritize? Pelle -> cheap and upgrade defence? Or Pelle -> Cheap and upgrade Downing? Or just a simple Chester -> cheap defender swap for free? Can't get myself out of the 40k ranks, losing patience!

Nice team that! Pelle --> Austin or Bony seems like a solid transfer this week! Team's in good shape though, good job!

Wow, I don't think it's nice at all but I'll take that, thanks 🙂 Not sure about Austin, would rather go for Bony in that case.. Feel I have too many "issues".. Bego, Kelly, Chester, Downing and Pelle (?). No idea what I should prioritize!

I wanna say shift out Pelle but if Downing is out and your defence is in a bit of a state then he may not be the priority.

Thanks mate! I'm lost at this point tbh.. WC is tempting, there's several changes I want to do and for the fifth week in a row my OR is pretty much dead.

I'd be very tempted to WC and set up for the festive period. You need Aguero and a full 15 playing squad.

Good morning all! Will be around answering queries all day, as have an assignment due for the end of the week and obviously will procrastinate as much as possible.

Wondered what you all thought of this team for GW 13.

    Krul // Myhill

Hutton // Baines // Chambers (Bertrand // Bruce)

Di Maria // Sanchez // Downing // Tadic (Albrighton)

    Austin Costa (c) Aguero

One FT. A logical one seems to be Tadic --> Siggy, freeing up funds for Bertrand --> Terry next week. Any other suggestions?

I got him in for Pelle last night. Feel very confident. Soldado and Ade are injured so he will get gametime. Plus, he scored two goals in his last two so there is no way Poch will bench him.
Moreover, you can consider playing 3-5-2 in some weeks since he is relatively cheap.

the number of people who have 2 chelsea attackers are quite high...as if even with costa scoring for u you will be lagging behind due to the assist..which is wad happen to me at the weekend..and usually costa bag only 1 goal and rarely assist..so the 2nd and potentially 3rd goal will likely share points among the mid again (lucky chelsea likes to shut up shop at 2-0)

irony that it seems better to pray for a 0-0 rather than a scoring game even if u have costa.

nevertheless ADM is a good short term option!

Is getting Costa in essential if already got Ageuro?

    Current team

    Krul Foster
    Baines Clyne Dummet Wisdom Hutton
    Hazard Sanchez ADM Siggy King
    Ageuro Welbeck Sakho

Certainly not essential, but favourable. Could maybe ditch ADM, but his next couple of games are great. Maybe just do Welbeck -> Bony.

Yea I've had ADM from the start and would have considered swapping him but like you said next two fixtures should be made for him. Good advise on welbeck to bony, then if ADM doesn't score well next two then will cash in.

if i want to go from welbs pelle costa to aguero costa kane i need to knock £1m off a 3rd player for a -4

only options are downgrade Clyne , Baines , ADM , Siggy , Fab or Sanchez for someone £1m less

Out of those on your list, dropping Clyne might be best option. Losing one of the others would annoy you if they have a couple of big weeks

I own Sanchez and Aguero, my rival has Hazard and Rooney. Who will do better these next few gameweeks?

I think it'll be about even stevens. Sanchex could explode again against West Brom this weekend tho.

Just looking at Jan WC, and ManU fixtures take a massive swing for the good.

ADM/Gru over Sanchez/Pelle or any other cheapo could be an option.

            Yeah, that's another option.

I just can't fit ManU into my team at the moment.

    A. Pelle > Bony

    C. Pelle > Rooney & ADM > Eriksen (4 pt hit)
    D. Pelle > Austin & Clyne > Ivanovic (4pt hit)

Currently on & dropped from 117 to 221 this GW.

    Forster
    Baines Clyne Chambers Wisdom Duff
    ADm Sanchez Haz Siggy Boyd
    Aguero Pelle Austin

Had Pelle for 5 weeks...not scored a single goal in that time. Time to ditch.

Forster & Pelle ---> Fabianski & Bony. Thoughts welcome please.

Current team, with 1 FT and 0.1ITB:

    Krul (Mannone)
    Baines, Taylor, Dummett, Clyne, Wisdom
    Fab, Sanchez, Downing, Siggy, Boyd
    Aguero, Costa, Pelle

I'm tempted by Pelle -> Bony, but not sure whether to wait on Downing news. Any thoughts?
