Frisking the Fixtures – Gameweek 13 – The Weak

After taking a look at those clubs with kind upcoming schedules yesterday evening, we turn our attentions to those with some tough fixtures to follow. Trouble could be brewing for the Tyne-Wear duo, whilst the Saints’ recent rise to prominence is set to be put to the test.

Sunderland

“frisking

Unbeaten in their last three, the Black Cats will need to retain that recent resilience to navigate a tricky fixture list. Gus Poyet’s side entertain Chelsea, Man City and West Ham in the next four – the three highest scoring away sides in the league so far.

With a trip to Liverpool also to consider in the next four, the Wearsiders will surely remain off Fantasy radars for now. At the back, Costel Pantilimon has earned 14 points in three starts since taking over from Vito Mannone and will at least offer save point potential, whilst Steven Fletcher faces a tough task to continue the form which has brought four goals and an assist in his last six appearances.

Stoke

“frisking

Last weekend’s home defeat to Burnley is hardly ideal preparation for what’s to follow. With his injury-hit defence conceding in each of the last six and key winger Victor Moses out for up to eight weeks, Mark Hughes has his work cut out to steer Stoke up the table over the next few matches.

The Potters will be looking for Bojan to maintain the form that has earned him a goal, assist and four bonus points in the last two matches, but with showdowns against Liverpool, Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton in the next six Gameweeks alone, Hughes is afforded little reason for festive cheer right now.

Newcastle

“frisking

The league’s form side have now won five on the spin and collected four clean sheets over that period but whether they can prevail over an evil fixture schedule is perhaps debatable.

Alan Pardew’s side travel to West Ham, Arsenal and United in the next six, and with Chelsea paying visit, in addition to a derby showdown with Sunderland, it leaves only a Gameweek 14 trip to Burnley looking full of promise. Budget option Paul Dummett and raiding right-back Daryl Janmaat may struggle to serve up the defensive returns, whilst further up the field, the cut-price duo Moussa Sissoko and Ayoze Perez could have their current form curtailed.

Also Be Wary Of…

Southampton
Sitting second in the table after 13 rounds of fixtures, Ronald Koeman’s side now present us with the classic case of form against fixtures. A defence that has conceded a single goal in their last five now squares up to City, Arsenal, United and Everton in the next five – Nathaniel Clyne and Ryan Bertrand are amongst the four most popular defenders in the Fantasy Premier League game but their owners may find returns slowing over this period, with many looking for a way out. The erratic Dusan Tadic, with eight blanks in 12 appearances, and the off-form Graziano Pelle – without a shot on target in the last four and just one booking shy of a ban – may well be set for an exodus as the returns dry up.

Hull
The short-term schedule is unrelenting on Steve Bruce’s out-of-sorts side, with Hull travelling to United, Everton and Chelsea in the next four Gameweeks. With just one goal and a single point to their name over the last four, the Tigers will need to dig deep to get anything from those matches – Bruce will be hoping the fit-again pair Nikica Jelavic and Michael Dawson can make a difference at both ends of the pitch but the KC pickings look slim to none right now.

Crystal Palace
Victories against the likes of Everton and Liverpool show that, on their day, Neil Warnock’s side can mix it with the best of them. Palace will need to carry on from the form that swept aside the Reds last Sunday, though, as they now face trips to Swansea, Spurs and City, in addition to the visit of Southampton over the next six. Home encounters with Villa and Stoke still look promising for key man Yannick Bolasie, whilst Mile Jedinak’s dead-ball duties continue to keep the Eagles skipper in contention as a valid budget option.

If you got Fab at 9.0 keep him, if you're looking to buy now, Hazard.

Got fabregas from the beginning, already doing 2 transfers this week (Azpilicueta, Yun in Clyne, Wilson out). Those give me some extra money but not sure where to spend it.

        Krul, Jakupovic
        Azpilicueta*, Yun*, NTaylor, Hutton, Wisdom
        Siggy, Fabregas, ADM, Sanchez, Wanyama
        Aguero, Costa, Sakho

Fabregas to Hazard seems solid, other thoughts?

Thats a very solid team. I wouldn't want to have 3 cheapie defs though personally. Would keep Clyne and just work him into a rotation instead.

Yun is just for the next few weeks, could also go for caulker but don't think he will make many extra point. What do you think:

            A) spending the extra money 0.5 on a 'more expensive' replacement for wisdom
            B) upgrading fabregas to hazard
            C) something else

Who are the best replacements for Pellé and Kaboul?

    Current team:

    Forster / Heaton
    Bertrand / Kaboul / Chambers / Duff / Moore
Sanchez / Di Maria / Sigurdsson / Downing / Boyd
    Aguero / Costa / Pellé

I'm thinking of replacing Kaboul with either Baines, or a Chelsea defender (which one?)

And who to get in up front? Austin, Ings, Sakho and Kane seem to be the main budget options.

Agüero scores hattricks vs Bayern so he ranks fairly highly.

Hazard/Costa is nearly a coin flip for me now from being so definitely pro Costa when going Chelsea player.

        Its really between those three.

        At the minute, Agüero.

I'm boring when it comes to captain.

            I rarely pick midfielders.

But he plays striker I guess but just think Agüero is so good right now 17 goals before December is wow.

Maybe that's make him a bit differential then?

                For captaincy at least.

Watched MNF. I have to say I thought Southampton were poor, very poor.

Aghbonlahor ran the ragged, Agüero could destroy them.

                    Yeah agreed.

Think at home the onus is to go out and play thou. City should be seen as win win if Saints got nothing they say well league champions or Agüero was great.

I can't see them playing tight for 1-0 if they do that they'll lose, best to go at them.

Thats fine. Wisdom(ARS) or Clyne(MCI) aren't the worst replacements in the world.

Minutes on tues irrelevant. He'll play 90 of need be. May get a 10-20 min break if the game already clearly won.

Giroud. If Giroud isn't on the pitch then I'd guess Cazorla. If he isn't playing I think it would be Sanchez

I just don't trust Tottenham ATM....he was isolated against Stoke and didn't do much apart from score from the rebound against Hull. Austin is the focal point of QPR and is on pens

Anyone else that got Baines at 6.9 (7.1 sv) keeping an eye on Ivan dropping? It's just possible he could drop soon if he does and Baines is ruled out would you consider it ? I like the idea but my keeper and bench ( Moore ) seems more of a priority, may just let Hutton have a run out for a few games

I'd probably get Terry instead. Ivan's stats are appauling compared to the first 4 Gw's of the season

So many tempting swans. Already got Siggy and Naylor, and now Fabianski, Bony and Dyer are competing for that third spot. Bony tempts me most as a direct swap for Pelle. But Fabi would sort out my keeping dilemma. Hmmm

I have naylor aswell, I can't afford to get bony so I'm after his supply line which I think these 2 are the best

the fixtures are alright and might be worth the gamble he's that type of player that explodes for a couple gwks

N.Taylor is my primary target, but the fact he's on 4 yellows is quite off putting. The QPR defence is pretty unconvincing, but tempting at £3.9m.

LEI, BURN, WBA, and CPAL all at home in the next 7 for Yun is why I had a punt, plus his price of course.
