Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Gameweek 14

A 2-0 win over QPR handed Swansea a sixth clean sheet of the season but Tuesday evening’s triumph came at a cost for Garry Monk’s side as ever-present Neil Taylor toppled off the Suspension Tightrope. After earning his fifth caution of the campaign, the left-back is one of four players who are set to serve a one-match ban this weekend as he sits on the sidelines for the Welsh club’s trip to West Ham.

Chelsea are once again deprived of a first-team regular due to suspension ahead of Saturday lunchtime’s trip to Newcastle. This time round Jose Mourinho needs to make do without Nemanja Matic after the midfield enforcer earned a fifth yellow in last night’s home win over Tottenham.

Andi Weimann and Wes Morgan will both miss Villa’s home clash against Leicester. The former earned his fifth yellow in midweek, while the latter received his marching orders against Liverpool. Morgan’s absence offering Liam Moore the chances of a rare start for the visitors but, up against Christian Benteke, he may well struggle to bring in the points as Nigel Pearson’s side attempt to improve upon a run of one clean sheet in ten Gameweeks.

Taking stock of the Tightrope after the midweek matches, we now have 22 players sitting just one caution away from a ban. Essentially, one more yellow card in the next five Gameweeks (until the extension kicks in on January 1) for any of them will trigger an automatic one-match suspension. From a Fantasy perspective, Chelsea playmaker Cesc Fabregas (sitting in 51% of sides) is the most high profile, though owners of the likes of Graziano Pelle, Vincent Kompany, Morgan Schneiderlin, Daryl Janmaat and Ryan Shawcross also have cause for concern.

Stoke, Southampton and Hull are most affected here – each of those sides have a trio of players teetering on the Tightrope as we head towards Gameweek 15.

As Fantasy managers are more than aware, Diego Costa is back for Chelsea after sitting out last night’s clash against Spurs. There’s no doubt his disciplinary record on the road is a worry, though – having been booked in all five away appearances, he’ll need to curb his enthusiasm for fear of facing another suspension later in the season.

Newcastle welcome back a couple of midfielders for the visit of Jose Mourinho’s side, with Jack Colback and Moussa Sissoko looking set to return to first-team duties. City’s defensive worries also ease a little as Everton roll up to the Etihad. With Vincent Kompany expected to remain on the sidelines, Eliaquim Mangala is available once again, after sitting out Wednesday’s trip to Sunderland.

Finally, Gaston Ramirez and Claudio Yacob will serve the last of three-match bans this weekend as Hull welcome West Brom to the KC.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Third Premier League game in a week coming up. Any thoughts on who might get a start because of this, or who might have reduced gametime this weekend?

West Ham -- I think Valencia might start after a 25 min run out on Tuesday. Carroll to start on the bench.

Southampton -- Tadic injury could mean Mane starts.

Liverpool -- A fresh Coutinho in midfield. Stevie G to start, obviously.

    Baines Azpi Chambers STaylor Yun
    Sanchez Fab Chadli Siggy Boyd
    Aguero Costa Austin

    1 FT 1.5 ITB

    My thoughts:

    A. Fab > Hazard
    B. Chadli > Eriksen
    C. Chadli > Mirallas
    D. Saylor > someone up to 5.4.. Jaanmat? Hutton? nTaylor?
    E. Foster > Fabianski
    F. save and see what I can do with 2 FT next week

Different crowd so asking again. Need some more opinions on this. 🙂

Have the exact cash to do Fabregas+Moore ➡ Eriksen+Azpilicueta for -4.

Gives me this lot for the weekend-

    Foster
    Baines - Azpilicueta - Hutton
    Sanchez - Hazard - Eriksen - Sigurdsson
    Aguero - Rooney - Austin

    Hamer - Saylor - Marney - Naylor

    Yay or Nay?

It is certainly nice looking at the fixtures, it is more about Villa's form that is the concern. If they start ramping up the chances he'll do very well and I'll have him in a heartbeat. Just keep it in mind 😀

-4 Fabregas-> Hazard or wait and see next game?

They will realistically score the same over the course of the season. Hazard will alternate between 10 and 2 points every other week, while Fabregas will get 6's pretty much every week. I'd say wait, and probably keep him because he's cheaper and lets you spend funds elsewhere.

Hazard's home games in the upcoming weeks have made me get him.

    Guzan
    Chambers, Azpilicueta, Yun
    Alexis Sanchez, Yaya, Chadli, Hazard
    Aguero, Bony, Austin

    Sub: Elliot, S.Taylor, Boyd, Moore
    2.9 in the bank

Already spend my FT: Baines out for Azpilicueta

Should i make a hit for someone ? Chadli out for Siggy/Eriksen ? Bony out for Costa ?

    Thanks

    Anyone benching Baines?
I'd expect City to get at least 2 goals so that's a guaranteed 1 pointer for defensive returns.
Even if he score a pen that brings him up to 7 max, with the bps possibly going to City's scorers and assisters.
I think I'll bench him then play him for the plum home tie following, then sell.

I am sticking by the double up, tough as it is right now. I must play the long view and treat them like midfielders, otherwise I will miss a haul. If I were better at this game I could do cool rotations, but I am not.

    Begovic / Elliot
    Naylor / Hutton / Clyne / Chambers / Bruce
    Eriksen / Sanchez / Yaya / Sterling / Gulfy
    Costa / Kane / Bony

    0,1 ITB

    Any suggestions?

think to get rid of Begovic to Guzan/Foster
and maybe finaly make room for Aguero cuz he is killing me but I just got Yaya.

I could do Yaya Bony - > Aguero Downing

The last time I played fantasy football before this season was when Defoe scored 5 against Wigan in 08/09 (I think)

But if I did play last year, I definitely would have Suarez. My morals can be sold, but John Terry is too cheap a price.

      Absolutely not.

At home spurs will always go 442

This means Eriksen LW, Lennon RW

then 2 from Mason, Bentaleb, Stombouli and dembele.

Chadli will be a bit part player. Whilst he has scored well at fantasy he has been absent in the gameplay.

Mark my words. Chadli is not a guaranteed starter anymore.
