FFS Paddy Power Cup X – Seventh Round Draw

This evening, we roll out the seventh round draw of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X, as sponsored by Paddy Power, and take a look back at the key events during New Year’s Day’s sixth round ties.

United Nations is fast becoming the manager to beat after clocking up his second prize for scoring the highest number of points in a round. A tally of 69 points has propelled him into 334th position overall, earning him another £25 worth of free bets from Paddy Power and setting him up for a round seven tie with Mince and Tatties. United Nations’ fielding of Harry Kane and Gael Clichy proved crucial to his victory.

The giant-killing accolade of the round goes to Aaron Ramessi. He may be ranked 33,436th overall but he saw off round six’s highest ranked manager Never Trust Lukaku, who is ranked 19th. Aaron Ramessi now faces CMIFLFC in the seventh round.

Other notable round seven ties include Mediocre Men, who knocked Granville out in round five, taking on Momalpashands, and community writer Saata facing up to Wolverine. Jimbojunior drew the short straw and meets round seven’s highest ranked manager Mjfdept, who is 65th overall.

Among the 16 remaining competitors, 13 have a rank within the top 10,000 and four are in the elite top 1,000 group.

The full list of sixth round results can be found here, while the seventh round draw in full can be found here.

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action. In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

Not the way theyre playing at the minute. Lol hard to call. Dropping sanchez could easily bite you but I think 2 arsenal mods is def overkill. On mobile so cant really tell. Fixtures turn good for them soon right?

What are your thoughts on which 3 Chelsea players to own?

Currently have Costa, Fab and Azpi.

Thinking of ditching Azpi and going with Costa, Fab and Haz.

Other option would be Fab, Haz and Terry and bring in someone like Rooney alongside Kane and Austin.

For people considering WCing late, surely you guys have the bur/avl/sun rotation down pat?

CPL, QPR, CPL, BUR, WBA, QPR, WBA, SWA, WBA, AVL, SWA, NEW, CPL, QPR, LEI, SOU, WHM, LEI, BUR

West brom in for Sunderland works well too if you fancy Lescott/Wisdom over PvA/O'shea

Hey DZ. Haven't been around for a few days, currently on holiday in LA and haven't had much time for FPL matters.

Just checked my rank from last GW, had a terrible one even though I played Kane. What a shite month December was FPL-wise. Hope yours was better.

Anyway, your expertise is appreciated as my team's a mess after relying on City too much and getting burnt by expensive defenders.

    Hart
    Zaba Baines Azpi
    Silva Sanchez Hazard Downing
    Costa Austin Kane

    McCarthy Boyd Naylor Yun

    2FT and 3.4 (I think) ITB.
Happy with my front 8 but defence is a mess. Any thoughts? Cheers in advance and happy new year 🙂

Morning Innsie. That is a harsh defence for the last few weeks. Very hard to call a downgrade in defence though. Twmpted by skrtel for fixtures or Jones but neither team looking too solid at the back

Cheers Badger. The heavy defence has been terrible for me, seeing the likes of Hutton rack up the points while my guys get nothing hurts a lot. Reckon I should sort out the double City defence this week? Everton have been pretty toothless lately so a cleanie isn't out of the question. Man this is tough 😆

Yeah rough mate. Hutton has been a superstar for me. So much so I held onto chambers thisnweek confident enough playing Huttinho lol Baines out looks a better shout this week alright. Less likely of a cleanie. Or if you fancy attacking returns from him yeah time to ditch one of your double up

I'd get Zaba first imo, contrary to what most would say, Baines still has the homie & this could be a well contested and open match. I fancy Baines to produce well this GW imo.

Zaba/Yun out would be my move here Innsie
Then Baines out for a Saints next defender next week

Villa, West Brom, & Pool have great fixtures this week

        9 years, 5 months ago

Cheers Zasa! I'm thinking of punting on a Spurs defender for (cry, SUN, wba). The alternative options seem to have a good fixture this week but then a poor one next which makes things complicated 😕

          9 years, 5 months ago

Aye, that's the problem at the back right now. No reliable fixtures to speak of for anyone bar Chelsea 🙁

Have you considered Skrtel as great attacking punt for the next three?
          sun, avl, WHU

Yeah I've looked at him, I just don't trust Pool defence though. I can see one cleanie there at the most. Might be worth it if he manages to sneak in a goal though...

His goal threat will come through in any one of these fixtures imo, clean sheet looks very likely against an invincible Villa attack.

Skrtel will be the highest scoring defender in these next 3 GW's bar a Chelsea defender imp

      Good evening.

I have a similar defence and a similarly disappointing outcome.

Depending on your WC plans a brief punt on Hutton could work well. I'm also looking at moving Downing on this week or next.

Thanks Gloria. I had Hutton for the first month or two of the season and benched all of his clean sheets too, sucks eh? 🙁

I agree about Downing too, his fixtures get horrible soon! Will probably keep him until I WC though.

@Swa with no Bony and Hull at home not bad fixtures
He is looking like more of threat going forward, almost earned a PK, and hit the post from a FK! 😯

Hey Innsie, hows your holiday going?

Looking good mate, I'm going Baines -> Bertrand this week but benching Bertrand. This is mainly due to Baines' blanks and everton are horrible.

Also to catch Bertrand's rises and good fixtures before I WC.

Good thanks Nick, it's freezing here but slowly getting used to it.

Interesting, I could do that and play Naylor (WHU) but I'm not sure that both Zab and Azpi will start. I might just get Alderweireld when I WC anyway.

u are better off with pelle..tadic is not really involved in the points beside that 1 time off..and his goal against arsenal is a gift from an error..similar to the one against sunderland.

Mane is the best off option there but is away for the cup.

get their explosive fullback, clyne or bertrand instead if u want abit of their attack n defence.

Sometimes a lie is simpler than a convoluted truth. Sometimes they are just pathetic. Never understand people who post here with Kane (c) or 98pts whoohoo! Then look at their history and see thats not true at all.

That's just so sad. There's not even a point to it or any rep to be gained. On the subject of lying we've got a fairly new guy at work who it's 100% obvious is a compulsive lier/bullshiter. Claims to have given 6 Swedish girls a lap dance for 200 euros, saved himself and 6 others from a shipwreck and dragged others to shore and through a jungle home to a Heroes welcome, slept with 150 girls, amongst other stories. I feel it's the sort of rubbish u wud try to tell 14 year old girls, so feel a bit insulted to hear it. He has a problem.....

Davies may start this GW...I might start him
In your case, I would at least put him ahead of Naylor the way Spurs are rolling right now
Also, as far a Hutton, Leicester not looking bad either, Villa may finally concede a goal.

    Need some advice please guys.

I've dropped a few places in my ML and I've noticed how my main rival is 'copying' my team. I know that sounds a bit egotistical but from the start he has brought in players a few weeks later that I had or doubled up on a certain team after I had etc anyhow I could be talking complete BS as he has overtaken me now lol but my question is should I hold of my WC in the fear that he will copy my team once I have? Or just play it now?

    My current team is:

    Panti/Elliot
    Baines/Azpi/Hutton/Dummet/Moore
    Sterling/Sanchez/Silva/Downing/Fab
    Costa/Kane/Austin

I want to bring in Haz or Terry, Alderwield, Wisdom, sort out my 2nd GK and finally get rid of Moore.

If I opt for Terry then I will drop Costa but not sure who to replace him with.

    Apologies for the long post.

If I've got money in the bank I'd perhaps do silva to hazard if you can afford bbit don't think wc is needed just yet. Team looks fine anyway. I agree that costa ain't worth the price-tag tho

I've got the funds to do it but then I'd have to ship Costa or Azpi as I'm maxed out on Chelsea players.

Don't know who to bring in for Costa though

You reckon getting rid of Silva is a good move then? I could also do Sterling>Haz but fancy Sterlings chances in away matches.

Burnley have hit some great form and Ings could be a good shout. Maybe even Barnes?

Well I'm going ings based on last seasons performance, nailed ness( vokes back) and penos. Not saying silva is a bad pick but he's reached his peak in terms of points. More of a consistency pick like fabregas from here on in. Not great fixtures though.

Getting in Kane and Austin leaves some major money to be invested. However, now there aren't many great premium defenders to spend it on, so the choice is squarely on midfielders.

Given Yaya Toure's departure, now the trio of Hazard, Sanchez and David Silva look locks into every team. You'd have Boyd or Sigurdsson/Downing as your 5th MF. Who is the 4th MF now? The options right now are Mata, Sterling, Sigurdsson/Downing, Di Maria, Eriksen, Cazorla and Fabregas. I am thinking on writing about their credentials here so that it helps everyone (since I am making this call anyway).

I'd like to know first about who is your 4th MF?

    1. Chris Finch - squeal piggy …
      • 13 Years

Mine is on Sigurdsson right now, but I did Bony > Kane so if I hadn't I might have gone Chadli

Hazard, Sanchez, Di Maria, Siggy, Boyd for me. Binning silva and all city players till Kun is fit/their fixtures get better.

Costa, Kane, ? is my main dilemma now.

      1. Kroos Kontrol
        • 11 Years
        9 years, 5 months ago

I am persisting with Austin before wildcarding to get in Aguero.

In my opinion, this 4th MF is the differential for the next few weeks and if I get this right, the decision to not WC early would be a good one.

I think you need a United attacking player for the next few weeks. Hopefully Di Maria starts in the cup and shows his fitness. I am thinking of getting RvP as he then swaps easily for Kun.

        Chadli-Kane seems too much.

Also, Chelsea's right-hand side was mid-table quality. Other teams won't bomb forward their RB as much as Ivanovic and will focus on Chadli defensively.

I wouldn't bank so much on Spurs yet. Only Chelsea right now seem worthy of a double-up in attack (Man Utd score too less, City have Silva only - no other viable 4th MF for me given the other options available).
