Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 29

With Swansea and Liverpool yet to play out the Gameweek tomorrow evening, we take a look at the new injury worries caused by the weekend’s nine fixtures.

Chelsea
Willian was replaced by Juan Cuadrado with just eight minutes remaining of today’s home draw with Southampton after picking up an injury, according to match reports.

Crystal Palace
Alan Pardew is sweating over the availability of a couple of key first-team players after Jason Puncheon (hamstring) and Wilfried Zaha (hip) were both forced off during the weekend win over QPR.

Everton
Roberto Martinez has confirmed that Kevin Mirallas missed today’s win over Newcastle with a knock sustained in Thursday’s Europa League victory over Dinamo Kiev. The Belgian is expected to recover in time for this week’s return trip to the Ukraine, though, after failing a late fitness test earlier today.

QPR
Rio Ferdinand missed the trip to Selhurst Park due to illness, the club’s official website has confirmed.The R’s right-back Darnell Furlong was replaced by Clint Hill at the break in Saturday’s defeat at Palace after sustaining a calf complaint, according to manager Chris Ramsey:

”Darnell came off and the only reason he did so was because his calf stiffened up and it wouldn’t have been fair to keep him on. He didn’t come off because they scored two goals.”

Southampton
Eljero Elia missed today’s trip to the Bridge with a twisted ankle, according to the local press.

Stoke
Jonathan Walters was forced off on 67 minutes with a head injury following a collision with Craig Dawson in the Potters’ 1-0 loss at West Brom. Erik Pieters was withdrawn at the break, whilst match reports indicate that Victor Moses was replaced on 57 minutes due to injury. After the match, Mark Hughes gave an update on the former and admitted he has concerns over Walters’ availability:

”Erik should be ok next weekend, but Jon is our main concern at the moment. He looks as though he has a nasty bang on his cheekbone which may well be a fracture and that will have to be checked on Monday. We hope it isn’t but it’s looking as though it could be a serious one that will keep him out for a few games.”

Sunderland
Steven Fletcher was subbed off injured on 82 minutes after sustaining what appeared to be a thigh problem during the Black Cats’ 4-0 home hammering by Villa.

West Brom
Tony Pulis faces an anxious wait on Ben Foster’s fitness after the keeper was forced off with a knee injury during the Baggies’ win over Stoke, whilst match-winner Brown Ideye was also withdrawn late on with a similar complaint.

After the match, Pulis confirmed Foster is set for scans after sustaining the injury in a challenge with the Potters’ Peter Crouch:

“We will have to get him checked. He felt his left knee go from under him. We need him fit.”

West Ham
The Hammers keeper Adrian played from start to finish in the 3-0 loss at Arsenal despite dislocating his finger in the warm-up. Assistant boss Neil McDonald revealed post-match:

”He’s been a brave lad today because he could easily have pulled out. And he’s made some great saves. He has his finger strapped up to play and I’m hoping that if he played today he should alright for next week. He did it in the warm-up but he wanted to carry on. I haven’t ever dislocated my finger so I don’t know how much pain he was in but it’s obviously a big thing for a goalkeeper.”

    Have a feeling many will overlook Aguero this week given his recent performances and he will end up delivering.

    So many damn options this week, captaincy will be crucial.

    Who do you guys reckon will be the favorite among the top10K?

    Aguero vs WBA
    Alexis/Gru @new
    Eriksen/Kane vs LEI
    Hazard @hul

    Other options being thrown around here
    Mane vs BUR (Rhino)
    Fonte vs BUR (Innsie)

    I'm on Kane at the moment.

    Panti
    Clyne / Ivan / Pva
    Haz / Sanchez / Erik / SIlva
    Kane / Kun / Austin
    (Krul / Walters / Bruce / Wasi)

    A) Pva -> Naughton
    B) Sanchez & Austin -> Caz/Ozil/Mane & Giru (-4)
    C) Wasi & Sanchez -> Toby & Caz/Ozil (-4)
    D) any other suggestion

    Foster - Panti
    Terry - Fonte - Bertrand - Naughton - PVA
    Hazard - Sanchez - Cazorla - Silva - Boyd
    Kane - Austin - Aguero

    2 FT & 0.9 ITB

    A: Fonte, Boyd & Austin -> Alder, Cork & Giroud (-4) or just Boyd -> Cork this week.
    B: Cazorla & Austin -> Downing/Siggy -> Giroud (free).

        Thanks, not sure if I want to sell Cazorla if I'm not getting Giroud. Not even sure if I should waste a transfer to get him in as he's got the blank coming up, and not the best fixtures before that.

      Not the right GW to ditch Austin, keep for on more GW. My priority would be to get rid of Pva, maybe something like PvA + Cazorla -> Alderweireld + Siggy/Henderson/Downing/Moses/Mane/Sterling

      Mane. I was so impressed by his performance. When Wanyama and Schneiderlin play he gets freedom. I have a totally template 11 on the top 1k and I think risking Sanchez going out, getting Mane and Costa for Austin may be the way to go until the end of the season. I will look to get Giroud temporary in GW34 for Kane and downgrade Erik.

    So, even though I removed armband from Giroud at last minute, at least he ensured a small green arrow. Still looking to find that elusive differential, but first priority is to fix the defence, get rid of PvA and find a way to get Ivan in. Team is

    Pamti - Hamer
    Terry - Clyne - Dawson - Baird - PvA
    Hazard - Øzil - Eriksen - Silva - Boyd
    Aguero - Giroud - Kane

    1FT, £2.5

    So for upcoming GW, looking at following use of FT:

    a) Clyne + Pva -> Ivan + Alderweireld -4 pts
    b) Terry -> Ivan
    c) Pva -> Alderweireld , and get Ivan next GW.
    d) other suggestions?

    you opinions much appreciated!

      Take a few gambles now I think. There are a few options away from the template appearing, especially upfront. Sturridge Rooney etc?

    My current Arsenal coverage is Cazorla, Kos and Sanchez. Is the following worth considering for a -4?

    Cisse + Cazorla to Cork + Giroud?

    Basically Cazorla to Giroud for a hit? Yay or Nay?

    No players tonight and only 4pts above the average. I think a red arrow is on the cards.

    Wow, what a week. 19 points with Naughton to go. Thankfully most of my rivals are similar so they haven't closed the gap. I'm still pretty happy with my team and have 2FT and my WC available.

    Panti
    Bellerin Terry Fonte
    Eriksen Hazard Sanchez Silva
    Aguero Kane Austin

    Krul Naughton PVA Boyd

    Thinking PVA to Alde and keep 2FT? Would then double on Saints def but not sure who to bench? Or I could do Austin to Sakho?

    Any thoughts

    a) Ramsey + Giroud

    Wow
    Only two out of my current team blanks in 33. Sanchez and Austin. Plus I have a WC for 34. Can't work out if this is good or bad - I feel...disappointed?

    Guess I could sell Sanchez/Austin for punts in 33 and then buy them back.

      Take punts for that week.

    Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
    But he with a chuckle replied
    That "maybe it couldn't", but he would be one
    Who wouldn't say so till he tried.

    So he buckled right in with a trace of a grin
    On his face. If he worried he hid it.
    He started to sing as he tackled the thing,
    That couldn't be done and he did it.

    Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that;
    At least no one ever has done it"
    But he took off his coat and he took of his hat,
    And the first thing we knew he'd begun it.

    With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
    Without any doubting or quiddit,
    He started to sing as he tackled the thing
    That couldn't be done, and he did it.

    There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
    There are thousands to prophesy failure;
    There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
    The dangers that wait to assail you.

    But just buckle in with a bit of a grin
    Just take off your coat and go to it.
    Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
    That "cannot be done," and you'll do it.

                Sound,
                It's like this:
                Ivan/Toby +1
                The +1 would be depending on
                Bell (newc) -Rotation?
                Dawson (city) -will concede
                PVA (wham) ???
                Hutton (SWANS) will he play?

                Ideally Belkerin starts, but if he doesn't and I keep Hutton and if he were dropped is end up playing Dawson,
                That's if I sold PVA-selling Hutton isn't much better tho is it?

                  9 years, 3 months ago

                  Yeah selling Hutton won't be much better. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hutton back at RB and Bacuna pushed further forward. Worst case scenario you have to play Dawson and that's not the worst thing in the world, City are in poor form and Pulis can keep anyone out on his day.
