Last weekend saw Mondogoal host a very special contest in honour of Fantasy Football Scout community member, Doosra. We look back on the outcome, catch up on the progress in Mondogoal’s £30,000 World Championship and select our starting XI for this weekend’s contests.
Mondogoal’s support for Hammers fan Doosra following his illness was well received, as an array of Fantasy Football community members competed for a selection of West Ham goodies: a signed shirt and ball, plus tickets to their final home match of the season.
After a hard-fought tussle, with my own FFS XI in the running right to the final whistle at Selhurst Park, it was “sreeves” who eventually won out with a tally of 117.97, ahead of “jj4eva186” on 103.56, with my boys finishing third with 100.38.
Gutsy picks, including Alexis Sanchez, Jermain Defoe and Wayne Rooney were behind sreeve’s victory, as I was left frustrated by Sergio Aguero’s failings in City’s Monday night loss at Palace.
Congratulations and thanks goes to our winner and all those who took part – together we raised £180 which will be donated to Doosra and his family – FFS are going to double that to £360.
This week, Mondogoal have another special West Ham themed contest, with tickets to their player awards up for grabs. The contest is totally free to enter so come join us as we attempt to win Doosra the big prize.
The £30k World Championship
Elsewhere, Mondogoal’s £30,000 World Championship rumbles on.
Fantasy Football Scout’s lineup narrowly missed out on qualification last weekend, finishing third in the £10 entry by just four points.
Unperturbed, we’ll be entering another team in this week’s qualifiers in a bid to be in the running for the final day booty.
How Does it Work?
So far, 86 qualifiers have gone forward to the final Gameweek contest, with another 84 places still open. To qualify, you need to win one of Mondogoal’s £30k qualifying contests – you can enter these for just £2.
How Do I Enter?
Mondogoal are running three more qualifying contests this weekend. You have until 12.35 on Saturday to select your line-up for either the £2, £10 or £50 contests.
The more you lay down with your stake, the more chance you have of making it through, with just 22 teams competing in the £10 contest and only five duking it out in the £50 stake contest.
If you’re consistent with your picks you may even be able to progress with more than one team – you can have up to ten entries in the Championship final come May.
Don’t forget, you can enter multiple contests with the same Mondogoal line-up with the click of a button.
Having multiple teams will obviously increase your outlay but, with the ability to block out defences, you’ll certainly be increasing your chances of hitting a big score.
Once you’ve created your squad for one contest, go to your list of entries, click on a contest and then click “Enter This Line-up in Other Contests”.
FF Scout Gameweek 32 Picks
We’re sticking with the tactic of selecting the uber-expensive (21.4) Eden Hazard and building our team around his substantial talents. His goal threat and ability to draw points from fouls is indispensable – particularly when Chelsea are visiting desperate local rivals QPR this weekend.
With substantial funds spent on Hazard, we’re forced to seek out budget options up front. Having said that, our trio of strikers all show promise ahead of the weekend, with West Brom’s Brown Ideye and West Ham’s Diafra Sakho both enjoying plum home ties with Leicester and Stoke respectively. Glenn Murray is our third pick, fresh from five goals in as many appearances: at just 6.7 million, he’s a steal for Palace’s trip to Sunderland.
Our defence is built around our assessment of the top clean sheet potential on offer – Southampton at home to Hull, Liverpool at home to Newcastle and Arsenal at Burnley. Kelvin Davis in goal offers us a cheap route to doubling on Ronald Koeman’s robust defence.
Indeed, we’re backing Southampton for a big win against a suffering Hull side: both Sadio Mane and Dusan Tadic were dropped to the bench at Everton last time out but we’re banking on the duo earning recalls as the pair find a place in our midfield. It’s a gamble, but one worth taking given their quality and the state of their opponents.
Of course, we’ll be tweaking this lineup right up until the early kick-off on Saturday. A reminder that the deadline for submitting and editing your Mondogoal lineup is 12.35 tomorrow, just ahead of Swansea’s clash with Everton.
