The ScoutCast – Episode 159 – Inactive

Only one FPL manager could withstand a 52-point hit and walk away with a smile on their face. In this week’s ScoutCast episode we tell the extraordinary tale of the FPL champion’s “inactive” Wildcard, whilst looking back on Granville’s own, rather more successful squad refresh.

We tackle all the usual regulars, as Jonty arrives armed with another array of quizzical requests from you, the community. We look forward to the Gameweek 37 double Gameweek, assess the role of end of season motivation and recall the moment that Jamie Vardy’s girlfriend turned our world upside down. No really.

This week’s episode was published live on Monday via Google Hangouts. You can view the full, uncut footage in the larger player below or via our YouTube channel.

If you prefer the slick, slimline audio edition, you’ll need this link or the first player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Rank these arsenal players in order of most points by end of season:

    A) Sanchez
    B) Ramsey
    C) giroud
    D) Caz
    E) ozil

      Ospina
      Terry Ivanovic Alderweireld
      Hazard Herrera A.Sanchez Cambiasso
      Giroud Kane Vardy

Bench: Myhill // Henderson, Moreno, Duff

Should I bench Henderson or another player? Different formation is fine.

That's confusing post your full compliment of mids and proposed Transfer, sorry if I'm annoying.
          In order I'd play:
          Ramsey / Ozil

          He do
But Fab does release funds if needed.

Vardy - form is great; has the absolute best fixture possible in the PL right now
Sterling - form not great but a very good fixture and likely plays upfront
Silva - form not great, recently injured and a toughish fixture

Balance of probablities says bench Silva, especially as you probably have Aguero.

It's a tough one but having watched City and Silva the past few weeks I think Hendo

City are half bothered playing in 3rd gear. Only concern would be that Spurs will prob attack and afford us space so Silva and Aguero could be dangerous but I'd still go Hendo v QPR

Your situation is about the same as mine (repost):

      Ospina
      Terry Ivanovic Alderweireld
      Hazard Herrera A.Sanchez Cambiasso
      Giroud Kane Vardy

Bench: Myhill // Henderson, Moreno, Duff

Should I bench Henderson or another player? More concerned with Gerrard's involvement, Balotelli back on pitch or Sterling idling again..

Basically need to downgrade either Coutinho or Clyne to afford Sanchez, so which is better?

    a) Young, Clyne, Dawson and Rose

    b) Coutinho, Huth/Morgan, Dawson and Rose

Leaning towards B, which would give me:

    Panti - Schmeichel

    Terry - Ivan - Huth/Morgan - Dawson - Rose

    Hazard - Sanchez - Cazorla - Coutinho - Boyd

    Giroud - Aguero - Kane

So the consensus is that this weekend, Hull are going to give Arsenal a run for their money and that it would be prudent to hold off on getting more Gunners in at least for another week?

That's my thoughts. I'd have 1-2 Gooners for the next couple, but think it's too early to load up with 3.

coming off the current double game week, i would think most have always planned to transition to Arsenal over a number of weeks to avoid the hits. i understand the thinking on Hull's recent form, but I've persuaded myself that Arsenal is going to do the business.

Yeah. DGW madness. Obviously. Eventually, everyone is going to have 3 Arsenal players.

But I'm referring to this weekend alone, whether it's wise to load up on them vs an in form Hull side.

I had convinced myself that the best move was to be patient and hold off on Sterling to Sanchez for another week, but...

I just spotted that Sanchez has scored 1 goal and 1 assist against Hull on both of the two prior occasions they played this season -- 4 Jan in FA Cup and 18 Oct in league,

    and

Sterling didn't score against QPR in their earlier meeting on 19 Oct.

I've also still got Coutinho, and am not wild about doubling up on Liverpool after these last two games even though that had been the original plan, and I'm inclined now seeing the earlier results in this weekend's matchups not to delay. Anyone want to try to talk me off the ledge?

Seems reasonable to not want to double up on Liverpools mids. Spread the risk by getting an Arsenal player

    2. Doctor X

      9 years, 1 month ago

Decent points there. But now towards the end of the season, the game is completely different. Hull are brimming with confidence and have super-effing-tight at the back. And they're playing at home as well.

Makes me a little less confident of loading up with Arsenal players.

On the other hand, the QPR defence is really sh*t all the time.

      1. Mark-O
        • 9 Years

QPR def at away is pretty bad but can score too. Don't expect liverpool to get away with a CS despite a win.

can't speak to others, but i'm not "loading up" ... yet. just feeling like its likely Sanchez outscores Sterling this week, so why wait.

    3. Ruth_NZ
      • 9 Years
      9 years, 1 month ago

I was aware of that and had planned the same move.

However I am still not convinced that I really want Sanchez rather than Ozil. Plus Ozil allows me cash for another transfer I'd like to make.

Sterling has a great fixture and will probably be upfront so there really is no harm in waiting. Plus Hull are in better form now. I have decided to save FT.

      1. da Beeeez
        • 14 Years
        9 years, 1 month ago

If you haven't decided on Sanchez, then I totally understand waiting. But, I'm not in that boat. And, not taking anything away from what Hull has done in the last two games, but did they really transform into a different team overnight? If they hold through the first half, then things could be tight, but it could open up quickly once Arsenal gets that first goal.

        Thanks for your input.

        1. Ruth_NZ
          • 9 Years

No, Hull didn't transform (though confidence makes a big difference). But they have always been defensively well organised, I saw them play at Chelsea earlier in the season and was quite impressed with them. Their problem has been in terms of lack of goals rather than at the back.

I agree with this, though to be honest they weren't that great defensively vs liverpool, they allowed a lot of shots, harper had a great night and pool were wasteful..

that being said - considering bringing giroud in for ndoye this week, have cambiasso 1st sub but not v impressed with his attacking potential in the last game.

ndoye does have BUR next week which is v tempting..

That's why I'm keeping N'Doye. Palace (a) and Burnley (h) are the 2 fixtures I really wanted him for.

im in the same boat, my initial plan when playing my wc was ospina , giroud and ozil. find sanchez 11m+ price too prohibitive and he has delivered in 2 out of the last 7... most of his shots are speculative attempts from outside..

bit nervy captaining giroud because of rotation risk though

    Migs
    Ivan, Kosc, Toby,
    Haz, Cesc, Silva, Sterling, Hendo
    Kun, Kane

    Myhill, Murray, Rose, Schlupp
