So are people going back to the drawing boards now regarding the Aguero news?

If Rooney is replaced by Aguero, is it better to choose Ozil, Mata or Depay?

Ozil and Mata if possible. Had both I one of my early drafts.

Always been a part of my plan with the simple contingency to downgrade to Rooney or Costa at last minute if Pellegrini says he is truly doubtful in press conference preceding gw1.

      Will probably just do:

      Costa & Mane -> Aguero & Ritchie/Young

Nice plan, but I wouldn't like not to have Mane, considering fixtures. But it's either downgrading him or Walcott. 🙁

Azpiliceuta, Caulker, O’Shea, Mings, S. Taylor
    Sterling, Fabregas, Walcott, Ritchie, Wanyama
    Rooney, Costa, Benteke

    How about this?

I will choose Caulker over Cedric if eh comes in at 5m.

    Thanks!

    Please RM 🙂

    Butland, Ruddy
    Azpi, Koscielny, Jenkinson, Francis, Targett
    Hazard, Walcott, Mata, Sterling, Wanayama
    Rooney, Wilson, Sakho

    0,5m in the bank.

My plan is to switch Rooney -> Aguero for GW4 and downgrade one midfield player

My main concern is, are my forwards too light? Is there a better option instead of Sakho? I could upgrade him to Pelle or Kane and downgrade Sterling to Milner or Chadli (Kane would require finding 0,5m somewhere). I'm just not convinced either of them are worth the extra 1,5m / 3,0m. I don't wanna take Benteke untill I see how he adjusts to Pool.

My other questions are should take Depay instead of Mata (better position) and Özil instead of Sterling (better opening fixtures) and maybe switch Sterling in later?

    Many thanks!

Mata to Ritchie and Sakho to Benteke as a sugggestion.

As you said, you are not keen on Benteke.

      It is fine.

I would prefer Caulker over Jenkinson.

Thanks, good suggestions! I'm probably going to get Ritchie when get Aguero.

I didn't even notice Caulker is available. I agree that Caulker is better overall, but WHU has some really good fixtures in the opening weeks and quite perfect rotation with Bournemouth

Personally, I think Sakho is the best striker for 6.5 mil as he'll be west ham's main striker for the start of the season and he did really well when fit last season. Berahino is a good option but not sure he suits Pulis and West Brom dont make an awful lot of chances, I think West Ham are better in that field, esp. with the addition of Payet.

Agree with you on the Benteke front, especially with Rodger's tactic of changing formations and styles 5 times in a game.

I personally prefer Depay as I think he is much more of a goal threat and, fingers crossed, will hopefully play on the wing/upfront where he performs best. Also great at set pieces. Mata still isn't a bad option though!

      1. TheBeast
        • 8 Years
        8 years, 10 months ago

Thanks, really valuable advice! I also prefer Sakho instead of Berahino + WBA has pretty bad opening fixtures.

With Mata/Depay I'm quite 50/50, gotta see the rest of the pre-season games. I otherwise maybe prefer Depay a bit, but not sure if I wanna have both Depay and Sterling. A bit risky with two players in new teams. Although I could take Özil instead of Sterling, but that would most probably cost me -4p if I want to get Sterling for GW4 when MCIs fixtures get better (planning to get Aguero then too).

Simple question from me - is it important to have a premium defender in your line up for the first few gameweeks? Am really tempted to go with nothing more than 4.5 and 5.0 picks to start things off.

Honestly I don't think so. Clean sheets are hard to predict in the beginning. I think a lot of people would rather just take at least one premium defender now, so they can use their FT for mid/forward moves.. especially with uncertainty over Aguero. Would rather get that premium in now then take a hit for it in a few weeks.

I plan to upgrade Rooney to Aguero by GW3/4.

I'm still not sure about the 3 way rotation between the promoted teams but the fixtures it gives are pretty good.

Should I use my remaining funds to upgrade Fletcher until it is time to do the Aguero swap? Was thinking Payet possibly. Or would it be better to hold the transfers for bandwagons?

I can drop the 5th mid back down to Fletcher and upgrade Rooney to Aguero assuming there are no crazt price changes in the first 3 weeks.

After I posted this I saw that Aguero might be good to go for GW1 so that might take care of itself lol

    --- WHEN TO WILDCARD? ---

My main issue is when to use the 1st half Wildcard (WC). Is it a good tactic to pre-plan a WC for post GW3 - so you can bring in Aguero and maybe 2 more City for GW4 onwards - or post GW4 during the International Break so the transfer window is completely shut. Either post GW3 or GW4 would mean sitting up a team with fixtures good for those early gameweeks in particular and also mean you can assess who is nailed on from each team, remove poor GW1 picks, get form players and unexpected gems etc.

Other potential idea is just set up a team for the first 8-10 weeks (or whatever) and not pre-plan a WC. Advantages of this are you can use it at a time when you really may need it (lots of injuries etc, or for a fixture shift for a lot of teams)

    Ideas guys? Cheers, much appreciated.

It looks like a lot of people are going with 2 cheap rotating GK, which is my same plan. For a while I have had Schmeichel + Butland in my squad. The other popular option is Ruddy. I did some analysis for the first 10 matches, and found that only once does Leicester have a better matchup than Norwich or Stoke (GW1). I rated LEI/NOR/STO each GW and awarded each team points based on the likelihood of a CS: 3 if they had the best GW matchup, 2 for 2nd, and 1 point for worst matchup. Here are the results:

    LEI = 17 points
    NOR = 23
    STO = 20

After seeing this, I will be changing to Butland + Ruddy.

If you want to save 0.5, then you can. But Stoke have the best fixture for the following weeks:
        - GW4: H vs WBA
        - GW6: H vs LEI
        - GW7: H vs BOU
        - GW10: H vs WAT

        Some pretty good fixtures.

    Ruddy - Rudd

    Azpilicueta - Huth - Mertesacker - O Shea - Baker

    Walcott - Sterling - Firmino - Mane - Hoolahan

    Costa - Rooney - Wilson

    - Do i swap Frimino for Hendo and leave 2m ITB for Costa/Aguero or Walcott-Sterling/ Haz swap
    - Or do i swap Sterling, Frimino, Costa for Hendo/Milner, Aguero and Fab... No Hazard in either though, is this to risky?

    Ruddy - Rudd

    Azpilicueta - Huth - Mertesacker - O Shea - Baker

    Butland
    Azpi, Cedric, Huth,
    Hazard, Cesc, Ozil, Young
    Aguero, Pelle, Sakho

    Hennessey, Francis, Prodl, Fletcher

Really just wondering if the balance of the team is about right? Having Aguero in kind of distorts things, I'm not sure the frontline is quite strong enough.

Keep an eye on Young - especially if we bring in another winger.

    RMT Please !

    Schmeichel (Speroni)

    Richards - Bassong - O'Shea (Shawcross & Williams)

Ritchie - Hazard (Vc) - Sigurdsson - Redmond (Chadl)

    Deeney - Agüero (C) – Rooney

1 Million Left In the bank also.

Trying a five way Rotation at the BACK this year. Best i could come up with and picked the best pair of GK's with a differential to the defence.

    (Gk) Lec/Cpa

    (Def) Sto/Nor - Sun/Swa - Sto/Swa - Nor/Ava - Ava/Swa

    (Mid) Nor/Bou

Thinking of putting in Giroud/Kane if Agüero still isn't READY for GW1 ?

Should I swap out Sigurdsson/Chadl for Mané ?

I have picked Redmond over Johnson as he is a risk as he PLAYED left back recently ! What do ye think ?

I would rather go with a Man U mid, but there is no such thing as too much. Look at Sturridge and Suarez a few years ago and Ozil and I think it was Ramsey were picking up points so if you think Sterling will do well then go for it. At the start I would put a Man U mid in though and you can always swap for Sterling.

a lot would depend on whether sinclair is on penalties, at swansea penalties were huge for him. the signings of adebayor or berbatov could change all that.

so i'd say the latter if villa dont sign those players, the former if they do

    Settled on

    cech [hennessey]
    clyne huth o'shea [simpson baker]
    walcott hazard sterling mane bolasie
    aguero berahino [hooper]

I suppose i could swap bolasie for sakho, but that would be being influenced by others as I've never thought much of sakho. I want Kane really, somehow.

I've always thought aguero will play maybe 30 mins of gw1, and going against chelsea the week after isn't a big deal for him given he scores against the top sides. Never owned Hazard ..!

Hola. Not a Palace expert, per se, but I wouldn't wager that he's nailed. He seems to struggle for regular time, as far as I have seen and what not. Fairly talented player, who is perhaps at this time more of a sub/impact sub with energy to offer when nothing else is working. Never know, however. He could catch on this season. Something to monitor before sticking him in, I would say.

Way too much money spent on the defence. Depends what formation you're playing but downgrade two defenders and upgrade your midfield/attack

    2. S.Kuqi
      • 11 Years
      8 years, 10 months ago

Far too expensive gks and defence!

Drop atleast 4 of gks and defs for 4.5 and get better 2nd striker.

    3. aehii
      • 10 Years
      8 years, 10 months ago

Too much on keepers, no? Is second keeper needed for 5m? And a lot on defenders too. I'd downgrade one of the three and upgrade deeney or richie depending on which formation you play.

    4. owls on the up
      • 10 Years
      8 years, 10 months ago

Keepers far too expensive just go with Cortouis
Defence too expensive keep Ivan, kos, then have 3 4.5 defenders rotating
      Like ur mid it's decent
      Strike force too weak
I'd be concerned having no hazard or aguero,
      Not many captain choices

      1. betweenthesticks
        • 11 Years

Have rarely had Aguero or Hazard in my teams since they've been around. Just about picking them at the right time.

    5. Wrizard
      • 8 Years
      8 years, 10 months ago

Keepers and Defenders are waaaay too expensive.

If you want Court you are probably gonna wanna play him every week so just downgrade Fabianski to a non playing keeper (4.0)

Probably wanna pick two higher priced defenders like Kos and Azpi or Mertesacker and Ivan and then three 4.5 defenders who can rotate well.

take the money you've freed up and invest in better forwards mostly and maybe a little in midfield

      hope it helps

Only time will tell. I have decided not to go with him off the bat. He was pretty frustrating to own last season, especially there at the end. Just loves a stupid yellow card. Hopefully, he's a little more quiet out the gates this time around.

    4. Netley Lucas
      • 8 Years
      8 years, 10 months ago

Yes he's worth £7m as his PPG divided by cost is 67%, which is considerably higher than the likes of Costa, Hazard and Fabregas who are all under 55%. Azpi is 76% for a reason, so you either take the risk-discount for 1m or pay the premium I guess.
