The Dugout Discussion – Southampton vs Everton

Saturday’s events get underway with a clash between Southampton and Everton at St Mary’s this lunchtime. Both sides are looking for a first win of the new campaign after registering 2-2 draws with Newcastle and Watford last weekend.

The Saints proved a reliable source of defensive returns at home last year, chalking up 11 clean sheets in front of their own fans and conceding a mere 13 times – only Chelsea (nine) proved more miserly.

After netting twice at St James’ Park last week, they’ll be looking to take advantage of a Toffees backline devoid of the injured Leighton Baines. Certainly, given that the visitors managed just two clean sheets on their travels last season, those backing the Saints at both ends of the pitch will fancy their chances of getting amongst the points.

    If things pan out as expected I will probably use my 2 ft's on - Ramsey & Rooney out, Sanchez & Gomis in - 1.5itb.

    Plan to save ft & then get Auero gw6. By then I'll decide which of Sanchez, Hazard or Silva will go for him.
