Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 7

Bournemouth await results of Callum Wilson’s knee scan after their top scorer was forced off early against Stoke on Saturday. The Potters have concerns over Xherdan Shaqiri, whilst Man City have worries over a trio of key men after the weekend loss to Tottenham.

Arsenal
The Gunners worries in central midfield were compounded at the weekend after Mathieu Flamini limped off after 21 minutes of Arsenal’s road tie against Leicester City. With Francis Coquelin sitting out the King Power showdown due to a knee problem, Arsene Wenger confirmed that replacement Flamini was forced off early in the 5-2 win due to a hamstring complaint.

Bournemouth
Callum Wilson was stretchered off at the 17-minute mark of Bournemouth’s trip to Stoke City, following a strong challenge from Philipp Wollscheid. Over 150,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have already sold Wilson since the weekend, with Cherries boss Eddie Howe admitting that the initial signs don’t look good for the 5.9-priced striker:

“It doesn’t look good at this moment in time. He’s in a brace and on crutches. He’s in a bit of pain and there’s a bit of swelling there. We won’t know until we get it scanned and properly looked at, but it’s worrying for us. It looks like it could be another serious knee injury. He wanted to carry on and stay on, such is his nature. The physios were aware of there could be a potential injury there and they relayed their concerns to him. He felt he was strong enough, fit enough and able enough to carry on, which wasn’t the case. It was a real key moment in the game.”

Crystal Palace
James McArthur’s run of six successive starts came to an end yesterday in Palace’s win at Watford yesterday. The midfielder was omitted from the first XI after sustaining a minor knock during the week, but did emerge from the bench at the 77-minute mark.

Manchester City
Vincent Kompany, Joe Hart and Yaya Toure are all doubts for Manchester City’s midweek Champions League clash against Borussia Monchengladbach. The former was replaced on the substitute’s bench by George Evans after he felt a recurrence of his recent calf complaint during the warm-ups:

“I don’t think he will [be available on Wednesday]. At the beginning, he was fit to be on the bench. In the warm-up, he felt some problem in his calf. We will see in the way he develops in the next few days.”

Toure, meanwhile, came off after 56 minutes at White Hart Lane with a hamstring tweak and is now touch-and-go for Wednesday’s match-up:

“Yaya had some problem with his hamstring, and we don’t know [if they will be fit]. We must wait for Sunday or Monday to decide if they are 100 percent.”

As for Hart, the English shot-stopper was only fit enough to be named among the subs against Spurs after suffering a minor back injury earlier in the week:

“Joe had a problem with his back during the week. He could train just one day this week, and that’s why I decided to play [Willy] Caballero. Joe was not 100 percent.”

Stoke City
Xherdan Shaqiri was forced off after 54 minutes of the Potters’ home clash against the Cherries with a suspected hamstring problem. Mark Hughes later revealed that the Swiss international is set to undergo a scan today to determine the severity of the damage:

“Xherdan pulled up, but we don’t know how serious it is at the moment. It’s one that we will have to check, we will settle him down tomorrow and get him scanned and see the extent of it on Monday.  Obviously he didn’t stay on the pitch too long afterwards and that usually helps because it doesn’t cause any further damage. We hope it isn’t too serious and we will see how he is first thing on Monday morning.”

First of all, thanks to those who influenced me to stick with Sanchez this week. Had I made the move to Hazard, I think I would have thrown the PC out of the window!

    Butland (McCarthy)

Kolarov / Ward /Williams/ Gomez (Martin)
    Mahrez /Depay/ Sánchez/Payet (Sako)
    Wilson/Martial /Agüero

Considering both Gomez and Wilsons value is dropping like a stone.

A - Is a -4 to Davis and Vardy worth it (before Vardy rises again?)

B - Add to that, Depay to either KDB (or possible Mata) for a -8?

    Thoughts oh wise ones!

Narrowed it down to 3 options I think, bearing in mind I consider the defence to be a bit weak this week but also the next few weeks.

    Fab, (McCarthy)
    Kolarov, Darmian, Prodl, (Richards, Gomez)
    Sanchez, KDB, Pedro, Mahrez, (Westwood)
    Kun, Vardy, Ighalo

1 FT, 2m in the bank

A: Gomez > Dawson (sort out defence asap and avoid Gomez' drop)
B: Westwood > Brady (play AOA for now with juicy LEI fixture for Brady and sort out defence after the international break)
C: Save FT (save for the impending international break injuries)

Walcott said: "I've been biding my time to get the opportunity to play up front.
"If I can continue to play well, I can stay there, but I need to be able to contribute well and luckily, in this match, it went my way." . The plot thickens 🙂

He had 5 big chances and converted only 1. He is awful. He isn't predator. With those chances he should definitely score more. Wenger is a tool sometimes, he needs to splash the cash to world class finisher 50-70m, play Wally on the wing, Alexis centrally and vuala there goes the title !!! So Stubborn manager

Not with Giroud in the middle, he would still be at the halfway line when the crosses come in....

Personally I would like to see AOC, Ozil and Sanchez behind Walcott. The pace would be frightening.

"wilson to....." has got to be one of the biggest ffs conundrum we've seen in quite some time. Presently there's about 10 names being batted about and not one clear and obvious sucessor. I for one am at a loss

We should do a poll , similar to the cptn poll.

“Yaya had some problem with his hamstring, and we don’t know. We must wait for Sunday or Monday to decide if they are 100 percent.”

Sounds like he'll be fine for the weekend. It's only the midweek game that's in doubt.

Repost from bottom of the last page.

What exactly did Pardew say about his Penalty takers. Did it sound something like "Next time Gayle will take it"?

      • 10 Years

“I wasn't sure who was going to take it,” admitted Pardew. “Cabaye is our designated penalty-taker but Gayle scored a hat-trick in midweek, so I let them sort it out and crossed my fingers.”

I have 1xFT and 2.5 ITB, suggestions appreciated!

    McCarthy (Butland)
Kolorov - Dawson - Williams (Gomez, Richards)
Coutinho - Sanchez - Payet - Mahrez (Westwood)
    Aguero - Martial - Gomis

Concerns are Gomez (Not playing, but defence can support that, and 0.1 drop doesn't matter to selling price) and Gomis (Actually still think a good option, but price plummeting and bought for 7.1 so will lose selling value when he drops again)

Think ill stay away from Gom.. players.

Was also contemplating Gomez > playing defender (Dunno who - was gonna be Azpi before the weekend) and playing bench boost as all have reasonable fixtures.

Going a bit maverick here but replaced Wilson with Jerome as a differential for next week.

He's got himself into decent positions, due a goal or two, and next three fixtures look favourable.
Can't tell if I've done something stupid yet but time/this forum will probably let me know.

Good bench fodder, depending on who else you have.

I've also got Aguero and Rondon for now - based on current goal-scoring form all three are potentially problematic.

Thankfully I captained Sanchez this week so got a bit of breathing room to gamble with this week.

Not sure if he's 'due' - he does get into good positions but he's just not a very good player and has flopped on other occasions in the PL.

exactly, I don't get where people say he is a good pick. He has played 148 games and scored 31 goals

Yeah I'm looking at Jerome. The next 2 fixtures are as good as it gets.

It's just that he's really, really bad at football.

Re: Jerome being bad at football - that's pretty much my major worry too.

He had a sound 2009/10 season and looked reasonable in Championship last year but certainly not someone I could trust long-term.

Bottom of last page...at least I assume that's why nobody replied.

I know it's a bit early, but none of my FF team are playing tonight.

    Faianski (TOT) - Schmeichel (nor)
Bellerin (MUN) - Kolorov (NEW) - Francis (WAT) - Nyom (bou) - Burke
Payet (sun) - Sanchez (MUN) - Walcott (MUN) - Mahrez (nor) - Hoolahan (LEI)
Aguero (NEW) - Sakho (sun) - Gomis (TOT)

Apart from Burke, I have no idea who to bench (Aguero....?)
Also I have yet to choose between Payet, Sakho, Mahrez and Kolorov regarding who to Captain.

    Any help much appreciated 🙂

would have got 22 if i didnt make a transfer this week, 27 if i just did benteke to martial. so 54 (-8) is a win.
shame depay couldnt score his one on one, but as it stopped martial getting another assist it was a worthy sacrifice 😉

    Posted earlier with no response:
To WC or not to WC, sitting at 800,000th in the world and just not happy with my team:

    Ruddy - Butland
    Evans - Azpi - Gomez - Francis - Huth
    Hazard - Mahrez - Sterling - Ozil - Anya
    Aguero - Martial - Wilson

This is my first WC draft (got low team value):

    Myhill - Krul
    Evans - Cedric - Nyom - Reid - Francis
De Bruyne - Mahrez - Sanchez - Payet - Howson
    Aguero - Sakho - Vardy

Yes or No to the WC? Otherwise any suggestions for transfers? Thanks 🙂

Why not Cedric? Southampton defence looks more solid than most and good fixtures lined up...

You might be right about Martial, just looking ahead to fixtures and he had to make way for some of the big hitters in midfield

If not happy do it - it looks like you are going for major surgery, but some options will likely come good soon (Sterling, Hazard).

I don't think so. Used tactically at the right time it could certainly help.

I'm in a position where i'm going to have to use AOA this week due to a decimated defence, but I also have issues elsewhere. An extra transfer instead of the AOA would definitely have helped me IMO.

Ive always thought the ability to earn upgrades would be fun.
For example, make no transfers for 5 gws in a row and you get the upgrade to hold 3fts at any one time instead of 2

    Hello all

Pulled the trigger on Kane in for Wilson last night because of price falls, so I'm now on:

    Butland
    Huth Kolarov Naughton
    Ozil Mahrez Sako Yaya
    Kane Aguero(c) Martial
    -
    Mc / Morrison Yoshi 4.0

    4.0 itb, 0FT

Lots I'm unhappy about, but if Yaya is injured should I:
    a) do a straight swap to KdB
    b) get Pedro
    c) get Hazard
    d) jump on the Sanchez train

    Any help appreciated!
