Fantasy Football Scout Cup XII – The Final

This evening we reveal the result of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XII final and the name of the Fantasy manager who has joined previous winners donnellyc, Jonty, Gribude, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 , CMIFLFC and Mark in our Cup hall of fame.

With a rank of 2,842 Leon Harris went into the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XII final, against 27,046 ranked community regular Numb, with form on his side.

Leon was at a disadvantage heading into Gameweek 32, though. While he had used up all his chips in his march to the final, including a savvy triple captaincy of Harry Kane for his semi-final clash with konman, Numb had a second wildcard, triple captaincy and bench boost at his disposal, as well as two free transfers.

Instead of using his chips to help his cause in the final, Numb opted to prioritise the forthcoming double Gameweeks, leaving Leon to claim a comfortable victory by 84 points to 69.

Numb may have shunned the use of his chips but he did use his two free transfers well, taking out Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld, who conceded against Liverpool, and Manchester City’s injured midfielder Yaya Toure for Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin, who netted 14 Fantasy Premier League points, and Dimitri Payet, who scored a wonder goal from a free kick.

Leon’s XI proved too strong, though, with his differentials of Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson, Manchester City’s David Silva and Leicester’s Wes Morgan all bringing in the points. The 15 FPL points from Morgan meant that Leon managed to outgun Numb’s Leicester defender Christian Fuchs, who still scored an impressive 10 FPL points

Leon’s victory takes him to an impressive 1,303rd in the overall rankings and earns him first prize of a £200 Amazon voucher.

Numb is now 23,218th overall but with his chips still to play he looks well-placed for a further climb up the rankings. He also takes away the runner-up prize of a £100 Amazon voucher to console himself.

Thanks to all those who took part in this competition, which this year showed how the use of chips and wildcards can prove pivotal to success.

ok, I guess more likely that he will play a part this weekend though, with henderson out potentially, not that it's a like for like, but seems like they were set up defensively today

They do not look comfortable playing it out from the back . It could easily have cost them in the first half

I think that we will be like this, against Arsenal at The Boleyn:

    ... ... ... ... ... Adrián(vc)
    Tomkins, Ogbonna, Reid, Cresswell
    ... ... … Kouyaté, Noble(c)(p)
    … … Antonio, Payet, Lanzini
    ... ... ... ... … Sakho

Subs: Randolph, Moses(Song), Valencia(Emineke), Carroll, Obiang, Collins, Oxford.

    The final decision:

    A) Kane (SGW), Lingard (may get dropped for Rooney), Rojo (guaranteed minutes??)

    B) Martial (against Villa and Palace), Milner (guaranteed 180 minutes and on pens), Rojo (as above)

    C) Mitrovic (plays for Newcastle 🙁 ), Milner (as above), Smalling (nailed on for 180 minutes)

A gives me Kane (the current top scorer)
B gives me a United attacker against Villa (we are terrible)
C gives me a better United defender but no United attacker

    Thanks 🙂

Rest of the midfield is Sanchez, KDB, Coutinho and Lanzini.

Milner goes in as a guaranteed 180 minute man on penalties.

Surprised to see the Lennon love over here. Surely judging by Martinez's comments (that Deulefeu will get more game time till the end of the season) and after Barry's return (which would allow Barkley to play in the hole), Barkley is the safer and dare I say it, the better option?

Maybe so. He can also be very explosive but is a lot more money on an inconsistent gamble in a team that isn't scoring at the moment :/

      I prefer B.

Lanzini is such good value at 3.1 cheaper than Payet.

Ashford may get dropped for Rooney :/

Cheers. Lanzini is great value as you say, but Payet has been so good, hence the doubts!

The alternative is to forego KDB for Lanzini (doubling up with Payet), and have Martial+improve defence all round..

I'm a non-payer owner so maybe my opinion is biased (and hopeful) but I think their points potential is very similar for the rest of the season. Lanzini looked great before injury and has 2 goals in 2 games and is so much cheaper. Having Lanzini allows me to have Sanchez, KDB and Coutinho in the middle.

that's what I have too (but need rashford to afford it if I keep payet..)

I'm leaning towards the 3M saved being worth it. Can always bring payet back for wk37... Cheers!

Would A mean going without any Man Utd defenders?

I would still have DDG in both options

Milner and Rashford are terrible picks

How anyone could go with one of them, or even two for that matter must need their head examined.

Hopefully that will dissuade a few from bringing in my players 😉

    Hi all this got bottomed.

My current wc is the below. All good to go?

    Gk Robles, Barlow

Df Sakho, Gabriel, Jags, Darmain, Clyne

Mid Sanchez, Ozil, Payet, Coutinho, Lanzini

    Forwards Aguero, Lukaku, Mitrovic

    All good to go?

Think my wildcard comes down to these two mid choices?
    A. KDB and Lanzini (also have Payet)
    B. Coutinho and Barkley

Will have Lingard as the 5th midfielder on these teams

    Coutinho vs Firimino?

Is Firmino back for sure this week?

Can is suspended and Henderson seems to be injured. Klopp doesn't have many options and Firmino needs minuted to get back to match fitness. I'm still going Coutinho.

Not looking forward to tomorrow, it's when all the last minute panic sets in. Transfers you never thought of before suddenly become viable.

Feel like you've missed something and not thought about he team enough.

Are Welbeck, Iwobi, Rashford actually more nailed than I give them credit for? Rashford is 4.5m!

I might swap Wickham for Rashford before GW34 if he starts this weekend

        Lingard - Mata - Martial
        Rashford

And if Rooney in for Rashford, moving Martial up top if Rooney makes it?

That coupled with the fact that so many have hit the WC button this week.

Personally I don't think Wenger will change the side after last week's performance (or maybe that's just the Arsenal fan within me pleading with him not to).

      What's the latest on Rooney?

Expecting Wenger to surprise off with Ramsey back, if not next week, then next.

Rashford may be the safest of all.
