The Stock Check

The Stock Check – Gameweek 2 – Friday

Typically, Zlatan Ibrahimovic ensures that he crashes the Paul Pogba party, but the impact of the Frenchman’s energy at Old Trafford was there for all to see. Here’s the Stock Check after Friday’s night’s Gameweek 2 opener.

On the Rise

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Friday’s Gameweek opener has made it almost impossible to ignore him.

While his performances have hardly been vintage, Ibrahimovic’s ability to score goals has been in evidence from the get-go and his impact devastating.

Paul Pogba’s arrival as the legs and possession winner in midfield has almost enabled the Swede to settle in the role he does best – now he can almost afford to drift in and out of the game, cropping up to provide moments of quality in the box where it matters.

Already the most transferred in tonight, it’s Hull City up next and the international break gap – multiple price rises look assured.

Luke Shaw
Just as Antonio Valencia looked to have the advantage, Shaw responded with a barnstorming display down the left. The assist for United’s penalty compounded an impressive display.
Again Pogba could be the influence here. Lining up on the left side of the double pivot, his ability to dominate possession could now see the power swing to the left side and promote Shaw as the choice full-back.

However, Valencia was just three behind Shaw in the Bonus Point System, despite his assist. We will continue to monitor but for now, Valencia remains our choice.

Paul Pogba
It was obvious that Pogba’s energy lifted United and brought the best out of those around him – it’s perhaps less obvious how the Frenchman will rate as a Fantasy asset.

He had more touches than any other player, he had more attempts on goal than any other United player but we need more time to see if that translates to returns to justify the 8.5 outlay.

In Decline

Wayne Rooney
Whilst Rooney chipped in with the assist for Ibrahimovic’s opener, when the Swede took the ball to stroke home United’s second, the skipper’s fate was sealed. The 2.5 price difference was tempting but Ibrahimovic has already made his mark, leaving Rooney playing second fiddle now and, most likely, throughout the season.

Notably, it’s also been Rooney, not the Swede who has been withdrawn in both league outings late on.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    First GW
1st day : no one scored points for me except kun
2nd day : Coutinho saved my gw
    2nd GW
1st day : ibra destroyed my season 😀 went from 300k→1.3m
Tomorrow kun/baines/deulofeu score big and I will back.

The question is when I will buy ibra ? I feel it's boring to get him now

    How was Tadic last night.
    He also dropped in price.
No other options so I still have him vs Sun at Home next.
    Any thoughts on this

yes 2 blanks and a price drop but that's great advice.

Tadic was inconsistent as all get out last season as well (sorry miffed Tadic owner)

Your patience should be rewarded. I'm less concerned about the way Tadic is playing than I am with how downgrading from Pelle and Mane to Long and Redmond is going to impact his assist potential.

Have you considered Lukaku instead of Rondon and Zlatan and cheapening up on Erik to find the cash along with reducing the value of a defender? I feel if you want a piece of Everton taht may be the better way in

I don't agree with Rooney as faller - he's been lethal in both games, which I hadn't expected, and Zlatan loves playing with him.

So what would be the wisdom in having Ibra AND Rooney?

If you haven't already switched him I'd keep him. I really wanted to keep him but I had 2 FT's so had to use 1 so went Tadic>Redmond to keep value. Will inevitably trade the other way in a week or two assuming Redmond rises again.

That's quite many to be honest. The median team tends to get 4 or 5 in PL, most don't deviate much from that, and only one team per season tends to go to 8+. So what makes you expect ManU to get the most penalties of all teams this season?

        1. Respect My Authoritah

Just a hunch. Seems like luck and stars are aligning for United this season. Liverpool and City to get around that too

            • 10 Years

So, you're expecting exceptionally many penalties? Or what?

Last three seasons, only 3 teams have gone to 8+ penalties. And for example, Arsenal and Liverpool that were two of the most dominant teams last season (Liverpool in the second half only, Arsenal mostly on first), got 2 penalties each, all season.

Yep, I just think United City and Liverpool will be very attacking and attract a lot of pens and free kicks.

Totally get what you're saying btw - this is purely a hunch

Ok. But beware: Arsenal and Liverpool were very attacking last season, much more so than ManU is now, and as said, they won 2 penalties each.

That's much down to luck, really. Leicester won as many penalties than Arsenal, Spurs, ManU and Liverpool combined last season. But certainly they didn't produce more attack than any of Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool, let alone all these plus ManU combined.

I'd be worried about his spot, quite honestly. And I tend not to be an alarmist. But their end product has looked weak for two matches now. And Tadic is being wasted. I could see Austin getting a start very soon.

Manager sounded like he's getting the positive of creating a lot of chances. As he should, if they continue like this, they will do very well.

And Austin should probably show something in his sub appearances before he can expect to start a match.

Very well. I WC'd to get Zlatan this week and now everybody's doing it. Too early to say if I regret not captaining him.

Safe to say that was a WC well spent 😉

A goal from Kun and I'll be satisfied with the overall outcome despite not captaining Ibrahimovic.

Everybody here would say it was too soon, but as a united fan I quickly realised I'd made a mistake. I would've done it this week if not then.

Good work. Very important not to be stubborn in this game.

And despite that, I'd always rather watch Aguero with him as captain than not

Fantastic! 26 and a red but very happy. If Aguero does well it'll be a great week.

Imagine how much more red non owners will be now.

This. Gutted not to captain Ibra but at least I own him in the first place.

It's Vardy, Ighalo and Mahrez all over again, I'm sure some will dig their heels in over not getting them because of being stubborn but it will kill them none the less.

This is one of the reasons why it is red...

              MOST TRIPLE CAPTAINED (GW2)

              37,928 - Zlatan
              22,426 - Aguero
              6,849 - Coutinho
              4,523 - Kane
              3,993 - Hazard

He was also almost an equal captaincy number as Aguero, like last year, ranks won't take shape for a while due to the chips.

I lucked out in that aspect. But No Kun vs Kun(c) is gonna be the decider. I'm sweating on that

Morning. As a United fan I stuck the armband on Zlat for parochial reasons! But agree that it's far too early as Aguero isn't exactly averse to a brace or hattrick!

I'm also looking forward to having Sanchez as a bit of a differential this weekend. I'm sure the current Ibra panic will be replicated with himif he can bag a brace too!

Well done on getting the captaincy right. 🙂

Can see the Lei-Ars game being high scoring. Sanchez could be amongst the points, and I'm sure that will send this place into meltdown

Yeah it's the panic I love... at least when I'm not on the receiving end of it! I'm sure Hazard or Kane will make me panic soon though!

Wenger is bigging him up as a striker option. I might have a Ibra, Haz, Sanzhez, Kane/Vardy as a strikeforce soon

What move(s) should I consider doing for next gw with this lot?
    0.5m in account + 2FT's..

    1. Williams- Souare/Friend (nice fixtures though too which would u choose)
    2. Negredo- Carroll
    3. Other- What?

Provisional set up for next week..
    Foster
    Valencia, Souare, Friend
    Hojbjerg, Redmond, Hazard, Firmino
    Aguero, Carroll, Ibra
    Heaton, Lamela, Stones, Amat

    1. Jafooli

      1. I'd keep Williams.
      2. Prefer Carroll to Negrado
      3. Wait for games to finish, might be other issues to sort.

I don't understand your moves in relation to your potential setup next week. But anyway:

      1. Williams
      2. I wouldn't use a transfer whoever you have. Carroll better but a selection headache.
      3. Don't make any transfers until the games finish, unless necessary to beat a price rise.

    1. Souare owners what you doing with him?

    2. Sell Souare or Pieters first?

    3. Best 4.5m def alongside Valencia - Stones - Amat - Pieters/Souare, GK's Foster & Valdes

I'm not an owner but as no-one else seems to be ill reply! I'd keep for now. I like Friend but I can't see it's worth a FT unless you have nothing else to do this week.

Hi guys, I have a query...

My team's total value was 99.5, i had four players that rose in price by 0.1. But it's saying total value is 99.7. Can anyone shed any light on this please?

    Thanks a lot.

    Courtois
    Stones Amat Shaw
    Routledge Firmino Ramirez Hazard
    Ibrahimovic(v) Aguero Carroll(c)
    Subs Jaku Redmond Friend VVD

Any chance big Andy will score a couple and stop me from regretting my Friday afternoon decision to make Him captain over Zlatan?
