Next up this Friday, we roll out our usual pre-Gameweek members article offering insight on the Gameweek captain conundrum. As always, we highlight the main candidates on offer, analysing the Opta numbers and checking up on the Rate My Team ratings before offering up a couple of differential options in light of the data analysis.
Captain Poll
After just two weeks of the 2016/17 season, the captain poll is taking up a familiar pattern.
Yet again, Sergio Aguero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are the key protagonists after bagging a brace apiece last time out.
Aguero takes top spot for the third successive Gameweek as City prepare to entertain West Ham at the Etihad on Sunday.
Over 40% of voters are backing the Argentine – who scored twice in his last appearance against the Hammers – to do the business again.
It seems that Ibrahimovic still has some convincing to do. Despite being neck and neck with Aguero on 22 points apiece, he’s convinced only 27% to hand over the armband as United make their way to promoted Hull on Saturday evening.
Similar to last week, third place goes to Eden Hazard. The Chelsea wide man seems rejuvenated under the guidance of Antonio Conte and has picked up points in both the opening Gameweeks ahead of a plum home encounter against Burnley.
That trio take up the bulk of the votes, with Diego Costa and Harry Kane – with 2% backing – the next most popular picks.
Similarly, with few Fantasy managers willing to look beyond the top three, this leaves the likes of Dusan Tadic, Riyad Mahrez and Palace new boy Christian Benteke (all 1% selected) shaping up to be big differential picks as the trio prepare for home comforts. Benteke is uncertain to start against Bournemouth, though, judging by Alan Pardew’s comments earlier today.
