In the first of a number of members articles over the international break, we delve into the data from the Gameweek gone by. Palace’s approach with Christian Benteke arrives under the radar, whilst we also take a look at Paul Pogba’s first away outing for United, Chelsea’s in-form attacking duo and the performance of City’s playmaker in the weekend win over West Ham.
Something to consider is the loss of value if Kun drops twice.
so with the simple out-in I'm using 2FTs to put 4.5-6M in play for 2GWs (looking at Costa, Kaku, Vardy) and there's the chance he drops to 12.9 meaning I'm saving 0.1M for the rest of the squad when I get him back... +0.1M for 33GWs.
What did Gay do? Violent conduct?
Gray*
Freudian slip?
mean tweets 4 years ago - towards the other grays 🙂
Already on -4 for this week. Do I take another hit to get rid of Aguero? Or just use the depth of my squad?
I'm taking a -8 hit. Join me
Capoue?
It's either that or play Capoue and King in my midfield this week, ironically King was one of my transfers in and now I suddenly don't want to play him
I'll do -12 to take him out and spread the wealth!!!
- 8 is the limit for me imo.
-12 is WC. Have mini head to head to consider. Hits can be suicidal with that.f**k it...now its -16
Is it time to start considering Capoue for 4th mid, get Fletch/AN Other in for 5th mid, and use the remainder to get in the big 4?
No it isn't.
If you can stomach the odd blank yes.
If not, then no.The odd blank? Capoue will likely blank in his next 10 game weeks.
I don't disagree.
Hi stats are not bad, and after GW5 he has excellent fixtures. I agree it messes with balance, and makes other moves difficult though
Pereyra will impact his output.
2x4.5s will destroy your team balance. The big 4 won't score enough points to make that up
I've mulled over the idea of rolling 2 of Diomande, Capoue, Barry each week. Very punty, but rest of team is spectacular. This before Kun ban mind you..
FYI - my transfers would be Mahrez & Redmond (Cap Sub) -> Sanchez & Barry (Cap/Barry Sub)
Just do Ozil and keep money for a better 4th mid.
Anyone considering KDB with Aguero gone for a while?
Nolito and Sterling much better options honestly.
If he is on pens he should be on everyone's radar.
So pricey though, feel FPL have overcooked that one. Should be 9.5-10Playing too deep these days
Agree
I'm surprised Defoe isn't being mentioned more as a Kun replacement as his next 4 fixtures are EVE, spurs, CRYS, WBA. That's 3 home games. I was considering Benteke but imo he needs a couple of weeks. Considering a -4 hit re Aguero & Redmond out - Defoe & Sanchez in. Will give me
Foster
Azpi, Walker, McAuley
Sanchez (c), Hazard, Lamela, Mirallas
Ibra, Defoe, Negredo
Jaku, Valencia, Capoue, Amat
Thoughts & thanks. Is Defoe a good option right now? Yes. Fixtures? Solid.
Will he end up trolling you? Probably. I swear, Defoe always comes in as this nice option and many look to jump on and he ends up disappointing.
I may still do it. But he's almost like the Coutinho of forwardsKun only out for 2 games though? Everton and Spurs are tricky games, don't see Defoe getting much out of them
Collin nailed?
Ogbonna waiting for his chance. Conceding 3 didn't help.
No, Ogbonna will be back soon enough
No scoutcast tonight?
No games to talk about.
Anyone already spent FT and considering benching aguero this week for capoue? 😳
Considering it but probably won't do it
lol
Considering playing King and Capoue in my midfield this week with no Aguero :/ I'm not sure about taking a hit just to use someone for 2 weeks
If you take a hit you want whoever comes in to get 4 points more than Capoue gets, which is risky
A. Milner + Kane/Vardy/Costa
Or
B. Sanchez + Negredo
Need advice pleaseB
B because Milner plays LB.
Best 4.5 defenders for the coming weeks?
Evans and Pieters
thanks. I am worried about Pieters, with Butland out. What about Mid/Hull defence assets?
Nsue looks a decent option
Good options imo. Mid over Hull.
Evans and Souare. Read the article regarding Souare.
Yep, those fixtures coming up do look good for Palace
byram
or masu if you can push to 5Havent watched WH yet. Is Byram nailed? he plaid only 45 min on gwk3. What about collins?
Kone ..... if he ends up joining Everton during today's last minute transfer shenanigans?
there is no way kone gets any minutes if he moves to everton...
I'd be surprised if he was a benchwarmer for the numbers they are talking?
I'm also monitoring Galloway now he's at WBA
- Rank Only Tells Part Of The Story
I've just seen that post a couple of pages back recommending people link their team in their profile so they know whether to accept their advice. I don't link my team and if you can accept my thoughts without it, I would recommend those who judge posters on previous ranks to look at more than just their rank this season or last. Get to know them from the advice they share with others, not just to you. Some people play for other goals than overall rank or they may have great knowledge about a particular area of the game - for example they may be a fan of a particular team, watching all their games and knowing all the gossip.
I think what as important as their rank and history is the amount of effort and thought they have put into what they have said. It is very easy for any of us to giva an off the cuff response, uit doesn't make it a good course of action.
A reasoned argument is great whatever the sourceIndeed, a good, reasoned argument goes a long way. If you spend enough time on here you get to know the posters who offer the good, reasoned arguments so when they do offer an off-the-cuff comment you may have greater willingness to listen to it, even if they haven't offered their reasons that time.
I agree Diva. Both rank and previous comments are important. If you read what I wrote, I said that rank helps the community assess the value of advice. This is quite different from saying I wouldn't accept someone's advice without seeing their FPL profile. I appreciate the well thought out advice given by you and many others on here whether or not their team is linked. But sometimes a poster I don't recognize gives a reply and in these cases, rank would help to assess its validity
Apologies if you thought I unfairly tarred you with the brush of those who only want opinions of those ranked above 10,000 etc. It was more a case of your post inspiring me to write generally about my views on who to listen and what to listen to rather than trying to be a critic of your post.
To be fair the advice is only as good as the person who believes it. If people take advice off someone and act on it without using their own opinion and it is bad advice it is really their own fault.
Always check the sources yourself if possible or wait for confirmationJanmaat is a great defender Cheese, you must buy him immediately. #RockSolid
Never again!
A lot of the time, it's just an opinion (EG what's better: A or B) and it goes without saying that you have to apply your own opinions too. But it would be cool if there was a way to measure the quality of a commenter based not only on FPL rank but on upvotes/likes on their comments from the community, articles/analysis posted, frequency of posts etc
Hmm. Difficult to achieve in reality though. I would say up votes could work but you don't really know the resultof advice sometimes for a long time after
Perhaps it wouldn't be easy but a formula incorporating all of the above would be better than nothing
No need to apologize. If someone writes a considered and reasoned comment, or its someone who I know has a history of writing thoughtful commentary, I'm much less inclined to check their rank. It's those off the cuff comments where rank can be helpful.
What would be really awesome is a system where comments could be upvoted/liked and then commenters could be rated based on quality, frequency, likes/upvotes and FPL history. There is an upvote system for individual posts, but we don't see the scores on mobiles with the new site. 🙁
FFS could leverage those upvotes and create badges for top community members based on upvotes and other factors. Maybe in a future iteration of the site
I think the mods do have some background counter of who has accrued the most upvotes. Don't forget though that some people spend more time on here than others and some people upvote funny comments, not just good FPL comments, so it's not a pure guide to quality.
An upvote in the time doesn't really say how good a result someone go from the advice was though
Even on the desktop site, the upvote button isn't obvious. I bet a lot of users (me included) dont know it exists
Or take me for example - I just want anonymity.
That's another very good reason.
Hi, I had a feeling that post might elicit some interesting pushback. Then I had to leave the site for a while and forgot to read the replies. To TM who said "Mark's ranked over 1m" - do you mean this season? Obviously I don't mean only consider this season. But if someone is giving advice and they consistently finish outside the top 1 million at the end of the season, their advice isn't worth as much as someone who regularly ranks in the top 10k.
I totally agree that it's important to get to know posters from the advice they give others. My comment really stemmed from a response I got earlier today from someone who stated confidently "no no no" to an idea I suggested for my team. I wasn't familiar with them and when I looked at some other comments this same person had posted, I had a few doubts. If I could see their rank for the previous seasons, it would help me (and the community) assess the validity of the advice.
I'm not saying anyone with a poor rank has nothing valuable to say. It looks like Michudagawd really twisted my words with the last comment "Yeah because those who finish 500k+ are complete idiots right? rolleyes" - clearly this touched a nerve. All I'm saying is that rank from previous seasons along with the content of the comment can help us all decide how much weight to give to someone's adviceIt's probably enough just to use the content of the comment. Even the posters with very good ranks are not necessarily offering very good advice.
Yep understand your point and agree. You're not saying that it's the only factor, it's just something to consider.
Very important post, Diva.
I think whoever the original poster is has missed the power of this site, the wisdom of the collective whole. The best strategy might actually be to keep your mouth shut and lurk, or to only ask the group for advice on FPL without giving thoughts about FPL or the PL as well. Plenty of visitors and regulars do extremely well with that strategy.Well said.
Pick one please:
a) Kun + Redmond > Lukaku + Ozil
b) Kun + Mahrez > Lukaku + Sanchezb
You've got those mixed up, right?
No...can't afford Sanchez if I ship Redmond.
But Mahrez and Sanchez are far more than Redmond and Ozil.
That's the point... He's selling a more expensive player so can afford a more expensive player
Yeah, it's late here 🙂
I was misreading this. Go Ozil and Mahrez.
Cheers. Do you mean go Mahrez to Ozil to save money or Redmond > Ozil so I have Ozil and Mahrez?
I would do the Ozil option as I think he and Mahrez is better than Sanchez and Redmond.
I think I agree, thanks bud.
Tough one but probably a for me with Ozil's consistency.
Both have their advantages and disadvantages. What would those moves do to the restructure of your team and your ability to bring Aguero back if you want to?
*structure, not restructure.
Both would leave me needing a hit, however me getting Sanchez for Mahrez would leave me 3.1 in the bank, compared to 1m if I do Redmond > Ozil.
Or would Mahrez to Ozil be better, leaving me enough to swap Lukaku straight back to Kun?I night lean towards keeping Mahrez if it's between the two of them alone, but I'd be mindful of finances too.
Kun+Mahrez > Lukaku+Ozil?
Could do this also, but feel Mahrez is better than Redmond?
can get Kun back with just 1 transfer as well
True, that is much better than a huge reshuffle. Would you recommend that then?
I'm in a similar spot and yes - I'm not gonna spread the wealth. Still haven't decided between Costa, Vardy, Kaku, but I'm leaning towards the troll (Kaku) or Costa
All good options imo.
- Leicester don't create too much and some teams will set up to stop Vardy, still think he'll get goals though.
- Costa is probably the most consistent, but those cards and lack of BAPs are frustrating.
- Lukaku is streaky and has great fixtures but will troll us all. Cheapest as well.
I'd give the edge to Kaku but it's tight.
A
Cheers to all btw.
Still a chance of a Lamela ban or has that gone?
some 1 said something about no video - no ban. there's just a picture of the whole thing - it was never on camera.
Please give me some advice on this team:
GK - Heaton (Jakupovic)
DEF - Adam Smith Bournemouth?, Shaw, McAuley (Love, Amat)
MID - Hazard, Ozil, Barkley, Snodgrass? (Fletcher)
FOR - Aguero?, Negredo, Irba
I have 0.1million in the bank. People with question marks I'm not sure of.I think I'd wait and see whether Snodgrass plays for Scotland during the international break and whether his calf copes with it.
I want to buy Lucas Perez. 17goals for struggling side.
Imagine what he can do woth Ozil, the king of assist behind him.
He will be gold with a good run of fixtures ahead, isn`t he?Not guaranteed that he starts over Giroud at all.
Like the look of the fella, quite pacy and a good left foot. Should be guaranteed starts, either on the wing or upfront.
Who is best for the next 2 weeks?
A) Costa
B) LukakuLukaku, Everton's fixtures are good.
Lukaku, just. Costa doesn't know what bonus points are and is insane (card magnet).
That is true but Lukaku with no goals and Costa scoring 3 goals
2*...yeah Lukaku is inconsistent, but when he hits form he's brilliant. Lukaku is probably a bit riskier, but with those fixtures you'd think he'd come through.
Just watched last seasons Premier League Years and it's convinced me not to WC
Why's that?
Why?
Townsend's free kicks
Firmino's goal involvement
Redmond's constant shooting
Morgan's set piece threat
all this is probably irrelevant now, but I picked these players for a reason at the start of the season. Aside from having an Arsenal midfielder (and I still don't know which one I want yet), I quite like my team, just hopefully the price drops will be kind and not force my hand this year.If you like it, stick with it. A wildcard could be useful in the weeks to come.
I don't think we've been given quite enough information to confidently use a wildcard yet. Particularly in defence where you want to implement a set-and-forget strategy to use FTs on midfielders and forwards. If anything I think I'm more uncertain than I was before the season started. United defence, WBA defence and Jordi Amat would be the only certainties for me, and I already have all three. Having said all that it is fun seeing what midfield you can get when your forward line is just Ibrahimovic, Benteke and Defoe.
Quite a strong midfield I imagine!
Foster
Valencia - Shaw - McAuley - Evans - Amat.
That's your defence sorted! 😀Great post. Follow your instincts id say. I'm holding out on Aguero & Gray news with 2 FT but want to get on Arsenal assets and clear my midfield out. Yet gut staining I need to save WC for Kuns return.
Will Adrian be a good pick for the easy fixture coming up?
No, West Ham don't defend well.
Went Redmond & Aguero to Lukaku & Alexis last night as i had exact money. now not sure if it was the right move :/
Good transfer short term, should be fine.
Well it looks like the right move.
On WC at the moment, and it's coming down to this decision:
A) Sanchez, Stuani, Heaton
B) Cazorla, Perez, Mandanda
There's a clear winner, right?A definitely.
I hate when people offer up options that I didn't even ask about. That said 🙂
I think the Stuani pick is a really poor one. Don't let the two goals in GW2 mislead you.
Would you consider Ozil and using the extra 1.5 to actually get a decent 3rd forward?I liked the look of Gray, but we know where that went. I'd consider Remy if I knew he was starting. Who am I missing?
I still think Rondon could be solid with a little better support and Chadli now on board.
You have to trust your gut, but I prefer Ozil and Rondon to Sanchez and Stuani.
Would anyone keep Friend and hope he plays instead of keeping Souare? One of them will be in my team and a 1pt auto sub is a guarantee if Friend cannot reclaim his place.
If Friend is fit, he plays
I'm still unsure whether to ditch him or notMm . I m not sure. Ayala is back and I don't see him being dropped. Gibson for bench?
Whose the Best Everton Mid going forward
A) Barkley
B) Bolasie
C) Mirallas
Would you double up one one of these Mid n Kaku ?B
Mirallas when on the pitch.
Barkley is the best long term.Cheers guys ! I see no love for Bolasie here 😉
Aguero won't get banned... I believe! 😀
Just suspended for 3 games ! 😉
I posted earlier that I had a funny feeling he'll won't get banned, but I was wrong...it was based on this, but I guess it didn't help.
http://metro.co.uk/2016/08/29/sergio-aguero-could-escape-ban-as-new-video-suggests-he-may-have-made-no-contact-with-winston-reid-6097453/If Aguero didn't make a contact, how come Reid was bleeding. Aguero won't get away from this, the best thing is just don't appeal and take the three games banned.
Guys this defence look ok on a wc? Cheers
Foster Heaton
Baines shaw terry pieters amatlooks good but a tad expensive for my liking. Do you really need to rotate Foster? He's good enough to play every week for me. Rotation could easily result in less points. I'm going Foster-Pickford.
Also, I think 3 5.5's is overkill, I'd downgrade Baines/Terry to a 5.0/4.5. I'd personally lose Terry.I agree with all of this.
this
I agree with this also. Just Foster, and downgrade Terry, maybe Baines too (if that .5m could go to better use).
People agreeing with me 😯
Just realized it costs 34.1m. That is expensive! Want a Chelsea defender so tempted to keep terry. Maybe baines > holgate?
nooooo > colgate loses spot to coleman - was good for a money grab in case he goes +0.2, but aside from that NO. He already made the first jump, so no point in having him.
Just take Baines or Shaw off if you still insist with Chelsea DEF. Job is done. But if you had Shaw from the start, might hold him until his price goes up.
If you want to keep Terry, please do so. I said Baines/Terry as when I give advice I don't want to be pushing a particular move. Terry is a good option but I personally prefer Baines.
I woudn't get Holgate. Too short term, when Coleman is back he's probably out. Williams at 5.0m is probably your best bet. Though I really like PVA as a differential and he's in my current my WC draft. (Valencia Baines Van Aanholt Pieters Amat)Cheers Nabs. Think heaton and Baines > pickford and williams and I'll be good to go
No worries mate. Sounds great.
It's the same as mine for next week except I don't have Shaw but Friend/Souare. So tis even better.
I'm using WC now.
A) Ozil and Barkley
Or
B) Sanchez and Mirallas
Eventually after Spurs vs City games, I have to downgrade one of Sanchez to Ozil or Barkley to Mirallas/Redmond or Ozil to Santi in order to get Aguero back again.I'd probably just go Ozil and Mirallas and save yourself the transfer/headache.
The headache about Mirallas is that Koeman didn't fully trust him to play 60-90 mins every game.
Then you shouldn't be considering him anyway.
A seems to be what you are comfortable with and that counts for a lot.I was just thinking that may be getting Sanchez instead of Ozil is more worthy than having Barkley ahead of Mirallas.
I don't see much between Sanchez and Ozil, so I'd be opting for Ozil and Barkley myself.
Need your opinion:
A.) Sanchez & Firmino
B.) Ozil & PayetA now, possibly B when Payet is ready
A
A
Can you stretch to Mané?Unfortunately I don't have any money to funds Mane
Too many doubts over Payet
Townsend never dropped last night?
Nobody dropped and nobody rose.
No price changes at all last night.
none...I think I Can hold onto Aguero for another day
Me too. Until the slim chance of a reprieve is ruled out, I'm holding
I am holding because I want all the transfers to finish before I make any move..
Happy Deadline Day Everyone!
I'm new here - what is deadline day?
Transfer deadline day, last day until January that teams can sign players. Usually a decent amount of transfer activity.
I turns out I know what deadline day is.. just didn't know its the 31st already 🙂
c'mon Hazard to Madrid hehehehehe
It's the day Pedro is put into stasis. 🙂
S**t it's the 31st... I don't know what day it is (probably Thursday) let alone the date.
Nearly there! 😀
In a holiday mood? it's Wednesday BTW... 😛
Said Moin, leaning out of his car window as he arrived into Fantasy Football Scout.
haha 😆
Transfer deadline should be the day before the season starts. Three weeks in makes no sense!
Most teams have done all their business by then anyway. Deadline day is brutal, so overhyped by SSNews.
This!
Have an upvote.
Hey, got a slightly out-of-the-box question here.
Considering going with Sterling over Aguero long-term.
Sterling has gotten as many points as Aguero and is a lot cheaper - is anyone transferring out Aguero for Sterling in order to be able to afford other quality players? Or is Sterling expected to drop off as the season progresses, and will most likely not get anywhere close to Aguero's points?
What do y'all think?no...because... Kun
Sane would give Sterling Competition.....No one would give Aguero Competition
No one is better long term than Aguero.
Sterling is young and could take a step up, particularly under a good manager, but Aguero is proven quality. The question you have to weigh up is whether you can make up the likely points difference elsewhere by wisely investing into your squad the 5m extra you get with Sterling over Aguero.
This season under Pep might be different but remember Sterling's hat trick last season followed by so many blanks. Few can match the consistency of Aguero
4th Defender options:
A. Williams
B. Collins
C. Other
Consider the fact that I have 2 EVE players (Luk & Mir) already and no WH cover. Is Collins the way to go or treble up on EVE for their juicy upcoming fixtures?
Backline is: Foster, Valencia, Evans, ....., (Kingsley)A
Definitely A

7 years, 9 months agoI think I cracked it...I got 2FTs, but I'll wont spread the wealth. Spreading the wealth requires 4FTs. The simple out-and-in requires 2FTs. I think the value of 2FTs is greater than 3-4M ITB for 2GWs.
You could argue that sitting him on the bench (playing your 4.5-5M sub for only 2 games - benching 8-8.5M in the process) is even better than using 2FTs - leaving you with 4FTs for all the other areas in your team, but:
1. I'm happy with my team - Kun and Gray are the only players I consider shipping out (with Gray awaiting the verdict). If Gray doesn't go to jail, than there's no way I'm taking him out vs HUL and there are currently no clear targets in the 6.5M bracket.
2. If I don't use 1FT I'm practically losing that FT.
What if Gray gets the ban? Depends on the ban length, but I'll most likely get Rondon or play Capo or 4th def... still haven't figured that 1 out - depends on the ban length.
