The Weekend Team News

Dimitri Payet looks poised for his first start of the season, according to Slaven Bilic. Tottenham’s Danny Rose is sidelined with a hamstring problem, Alex Iwobi is available for Arsenal, whilst Swansea’s record signing has a chance of making Sunday’s match with Chelsea.

Slaven Bilic confirmed he is looking to hand Dimitri Payet his first start of the season after the playmaker stepped up his fitness with a couple of sub appearances for France over the international break. Manuel Lanzini is now fully fit, whilst Sofiane Feghouli is back in full training and available for the Hammers.

George Friend, Victor Valdes and Martin de Roon have all recovered from injury in time to host Palace tomorrow. Fabio, James Husband and Grant Leadbitter remain sidelined, whilst Gaston Ramirez and Christhian Stuani will be assessed after arriving back late from internationals.

Hugo Lloris is available for Spurs’ trip to Stoke after recovering from a hamstring problem. Danny Rose is ruled out with a similar complaint and Mousa Dembele serves the last of a six-match suspension.

Kasper Schmeichel has recovered from minor hernia surgery ahead of Leicester’s trip to Liverpool. New boy Islam Slimani could be in line for a debut, though Nampalys Mendy and Jeffrey Schlupp are still sidelined through injury.

Alex Iwobi is back in the Arsenal squad after recovering from injury, whilst Alexis Sanchez and David Ospina will be assessed after arriving back late from internationals.

Seamus Coleman is back in contention for Everton’s trio to Sunderland after turning out for Republic of Ireland over the international break. James McCarthy is set for a spell on the sidelines after undergoing groin surgery and is joined on the sidelines by Darron Gibson. Tom Cleverley is expected to resume training on Saturday ahead of Monday’s match.

Fraser Forster has recovered from an arm injury as Southampton head to the Emirates. Ryan Bertrand could be in line for a first start, though new boy Sofiane Boufal is expected to take up to one month before reaching full fitness after undergoing knee surgery back in April.

Francesco Guidolin is hopeful he can include Swansea’s record signing Borja Baston on the bench as he steps up his match fitness. Neil Taylor will be pushing for a first start after improving his sharpness with a run out for Wales over the break.

Sadio Mane is available for Liverpool’s clash with Leicester after his midweek withdrawal whilst on duty for Senegal. Emre Can, Sheyi Ojo and Ragnar Klavan are sidelined though injury, though keeper Loris Karius has recovered quickly from a hand problem.

Eddie Howe was reluctant to confirm whether Jack Wilshere will make his first start for Bournemouth this weekend after arriving on loan from Arsenal. Josh King is a doubt for the Cherries’ clash with West Brom, though – he picked up a hamstring problem on international duties with Norway and has failed to train since.

Xherdan Shaqiri has failed to recover from a calf complaint and will miss Stoke’s home match with Spurs. Glenn Johnson is back in training and expected to be available, though Jack Butland is out for up to 10 weeks after undergoing ankle surgery Ramadan Sobhi and Geoff Cameron made a late return from international duties and will be assessed. Mame Biram Diouf is almost certain to miss out with a hamstring issue sustained for Senegal over the break.

Palace frontman Loic Remy has been ruled out for “seven to eight weeks” with a thigh injury.Midfield pair Yohan Cabaye and James McArthur are “touch and go”, according to Alan Pardew.

Ah yes the captain poll. My bad. Hmmm as i understand hazard doesn't have a great away record, and i agree with hybrid power about costa being a yellow card magnet...i guess my question is do you think ibra has a better chance of outscoring either of them... i'm struggling.

Not sure I feel comfortable using my ft to acquire sanchez.

Wenger says he hasn't seen him yet and they play psg in the week.

Last season sanchez was overplayed and that led to injury.

Perhaps wenger may manage his game time a little more carefully this season.

I am now more likely to bring in ozil.

    What do people think?

    Hazard - Nolito - Mane - Ozil - Capoure
    Costa - Lukaku - Benteke

    Or

    Hazard - KDB - Mane - Barkley - Capoure
    Costa - Giroud - Benteke

I rate KDB highly and Nolito may be a rotation risk.
Giroud and Lukaku are both punts imo.

Tough one - I have Snodgrass and Redmond atm to free cash elsewhere and I'm probably giving them one more game before I decide to upgrade one or the other. Redmond is a no mans land price...

  20. The Tinkerman

Close to settling with WC team now:

    Heaton (Robinson)
    Toby, Monreal, Valencia, Baines (McAuley)
    Hazard, Ozil, Antonio, Puncheon (Capoue)
    Ibra, Costa (Diomande)

    - Ideally I'd prefer Bellerin to Monreal, but then I'm stuck with Amat as a backup defender, who could be under threat from Van der Hoorn. Playing 4 at the back, I feel like I need more reliable backup than that, despite Capoue. Bellerin also means no WBA defence!
    - Monreal/Bellerin can be sacrificed later for an upgrade in midfield/strikers when better value can be found in those positions.
    - Costa & Toby > Aguero & 4.5 def in 2 weeks, for 2FT. (1.3m ITB with this team).

I'm sorry but I really don't like it.

4 at the back doesn't get me going.

      Antonio and Puncheon likewise.

      Diamonde... yikes.

      1. The Tinkerman
        • 8 Years
        7 years, 9 months ago

Diomande is on the bench for a reason 😉

I've never started 4 at the back before, but willing to give it a try, at least until I see more value elsewhere. Even in a 343, I had a 5.5 midfielder, so Puncheon/Janujaz/Snod/King were always going to be in and around until something else becomes obvious. Antonio will play until I know more about Lamela's role in the Spuds squad around CL games.

        • 8 Years
        7 years, 9 months ago

The only big difference between this and the 343 drafts i've made is the 3rd striker has gone out in exchange for a big defence. Don't like any of the 6.5 strikers, want some evidence that Bony/Benteke will get decent returns before I build my team around having a 7.5m 3rd striker. In the meantime Spurs/Arsenal have great fixtures, I'm happy to mop up their clean sheets and potential attacking returns from Toby and Bellerin/Monreal before re-assessing.

I don't like Puncheon, but I like the rest of your team.

Mine is similar to yours, but will probably get rid of Ibra to get Aguero back in.

      Heaton (Robinson)
Bellerin, Valencia, Baines, Van Aanholt (Evans)
      Sanchez, Hazard, Mane, Antonio (Capoue)
      Ibrahimovic, Defoe (Diomande)

I could ditch Ibra if things look different in a few weeks. I could definitely be tempted if Mkhitaryan is back and starting games... Hopefully his price keeps dropping, could be great value for about 9.0. That 2.5m+ makes him a great Ibra replacement if he gets close to the form he had shown in Germany.

Better to have Pickford or Jakupovic (who I have had since Week 1 at 4.0m) if on my WC?

Pickford seems a better bet to start for at least a bit longer but Jakupovic would have to drop in price twice to Pickford only once to take .1 out of my team value.

Folks... I'm almost done with my WC team. Only one piece of puzzle missing - help would be more then appricitated

    Heaton, Pickford
    Valencia, Baines, PVA, Evans, Amat
Haz, Snachez, Antonio, xxx (6.5), Capoue
    Ibra, Lukaku, Tekkers

    Options on my mind:

Redmond - OOP and underlaying stats, but not really kind fixtures and overall Soton impotency in front of goal
Chadli - punt - classy, but Tony Pulis
Bolasie - intersting opion, but already 2 Toffies onboard and I wouldn't like to ditch any of them
    Snoddy - awful fixtures tho
    Januzaj - very punty...

I'm not afraid of Evans > 4.0 benchfodder, since I have Amat and Capoue, so if you see any interesting mid in 7.0 bracket then point him out please...
