The ScoutCast – Episode 199 – Buttons

Jonty knows just what buttons to press.

When he slyly accuses me of adopting the template midfield, I’m visibly rattled. Leaping to defend myself, Jonty claims victory in this bout of Fantasy manager mind games and may have forced me into a hasty transfer I will come to regret.

Andy and Luke watch on, but it’s not long before they earn our attention, having pressed significant buttons of their own – both are post-Wildcard.

We analyse their Gameweeks, move to recite tales from the community and then take on another round of your questions, which finds us looking into yet another player relationship theory that will have Roberto Firmino owners rather concerned.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

You can grab the old fashioned mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or watch me get riled via the Google Hangout version in the second player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Tough decision this week. Wanted to save a transfer for possibly shifting Zlatan and getting Sanchez but Baines is out and my next best option is Stones away to Spurs. If I do sell Baines I'm really unsure who I want as a replacement.

    Would you:
    A) Keep Baines, save FT and play Stones.
    B) Keep Baines, save FT, play AOA to play Redmond (lei) ahead of Stones?
    C) Sell Baines.

B or C, depends who you'd sell him for. I've done C for Clyne

    Sterling Firmino Antonio Snodgrass Capoue
    Aguero Ibrahimovic Lukaku

Please help me decide, who goes out for Walcott?
    A. Sterling because Aguero is enough
    B. Firmino because chances created does not equal points
    C. Antonio because West Ham has no form

What do you think about this idea.

Have Baines (injury) and Walker (City) in defense. If I sell both for Mustafi and Bailly, lose 4 points for bonus transfer, but expect 12 points because Arsenal and MUFC have easy games (Burnley and Stoke), and I have one more man from Arsenal's defense (have Cech) for Swansea, Middlesbrough and Sunderland when exspect maybe 2 or 3 CSs.

    A) good
    B) too risky

Flip a coin...multiple times. In any given week, any of their mids could score well. So it's just using your best judgement. If it helps, I've gone FIrmino and will be getting Lallana after the break.

Just watched the highlights of the Arsenal game, Bellerin plays more attacking than Ozil lol 😀

    1. Parm
      • 12 Years
      7 years, 8 months ago

When Xhaka plays, Cazorla almost becomes redundant in his new-ish role as the deep-lying instigator of the Arsenal build-up, his usual function alongside Coquelin/Elneny who are inept ball players. Cazorla therefore takes up a higher position to compensate and thus 'steals' a certain amount of Özil's usual volume. See for yourself here: https://twitter.com/11tegen11/status/781239881381085184/photo/1

It is also worth noting that Iwobi is also now dipping into Özil's volume with excellent transitional positioning inside from the left leaving Sánchez, Walcott and Özil's in high positions and not required to drop deep in Arsenal's traditional build-up pre-Xhaka.

      1. Parm
        • 12 Years
        7 years, 8 months ago

On Bellerín, he is seeing his usual volume of work on the right, given that Walcott is playing as an auxiliary forward, if you will, much like Ramsey was an auxiliary midfielder playing off the right during last year's campaign.

What's going to happen when Ramsey returns? Will Cazorla make way?

        1. Sweetboi
          • 8 Years

Doubt it, Wenger loves Cazorla and we're playing really well (little-to-no rotation).

          1. Parm
            • 12 Years
            7 years, 8 months ago

Wenger is in serious love with that Coquelin-Cazorla pivot. It took an injury to Coquelin to play his top summer signing!

        2. Parm
          • 12 Years
          7 years, 8 months ago

I'd say that was the smart thing to do as Ramsey is a lot more all-rounded and brings greader balance than Cazorla as he has a better defensive skill set and offers intelligent attacking runs(glimpses of his 2013/14 season during the Euros') but it is not easy reading Arséne Wenger's mind. They have such a deep squad with incredible tactical flexibility, it makes me very skeptical to invest in more than Alexis Sánchez at this point.

          • 10 Years

Ramsey may be out for another month according to Coleman. But I see him mostly playing on the right when started (which would be rare if Theo keeps up his form). Don't think we'd ever see Ramsey/Caz double pivot so it's one or the other. Maybe Ramsey would be better against pacy teams since Santi doesn't have the legs anymore

With Sanchez price rising soon & since I only have the exact money to do this -4 hit should I just do it:

Sterling & Firmino out - Sanchez & Lallana in

    Will give me:
    Foster (Jaku)
    Walker, Valencia, McAuley (Baines, Amat)
Sanchez (c), Lallana, Antonio, Capoue (Snodgrass)
    Aguero, Costa, Lukaku

I know the risks of these moves but I have Aguero for City coverage & Lallana seems to be performing better than Firmino points wise. Next week I can downgrade Costa & beef up my midfield.

    Thoughts & thanks.

Thank u for replying. Would need to downgrade Baines to a 5m defender then. Any suggestions?

Not many point scoring defenders about at the moment. Arsenal aside no one has a run of good fixtures from a defensive perspective.
Just pick someone at 4.5 to hold the fort.
