The ScoutCast – Episode 201 – Penalty

The cruel mistress that is Fantasy Premier League.

Jonty has fallen a victim, paying the penalty for a few ill-judged decisions, compounded by a huge slice of bad luck as both Christian Benteke and his captain Sergio Aguero missed penalties in a single Gameweek.

He just can’t buy a break right now, which makes it all the more impressive that Jonty should brave another ScoutCast and risk a bruising hour in my company, along with Andy and Granville.

We make sure we conduct a full post-mortem on Jonty’s miserable plight, before delving into similar tales from the community in “Rough with the Smooth”.

Then it’s on to your questions as we consign Hull City to whipping boy status, pry into Pep’s potentially failing relationship with Aguero and dare to cast doubt on the Joe Allen bandwagon.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re nostalgic for the old formats, you can acquire the traditional mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or watch me get riled via the Google Hangout version in the second player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Manchester City legends Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany face the axe as Pep Guardiola's revolution continues (Mirror)

Blues insiders feel star striker only on the bench for Barcelona loss will go in the summer, while skipper and centre-half was fit but not in the matchday squad
Sergio Aguero is set to be the next high-profile casualty of Pep Guardiola’s ruthlessManchester City revolution, writes David McDonnell in Barcelona .

There is believed to be tension between the pair and fan hero Aguero , whose stoppage-time goal in the last match of the season made the Blues champions back in 2012, faces an uncertain future.

He was left out of the starting line-up for the 4-0 Champions League defeat at Barcelona and only came on late when the game was already lost.

Aguero has scored 11 times in 10 appearances this season, but Guardiola has repeatedly asked for more from the player since taking over in the summer.

While on international duty this month the forward said he is getting used to Guardiola’s demands, but claimed the City boss is “picky about everything ”.
Guardiola claimed the decision to leave out Aguero was a tactical one, to allow him to play an extra midfielder to try to nullify Barca’s famed passing game. But the move failed as City slumped to a humiliating loss.

While the manager insisted Aguero accepted his demotion to the bench with good grace, some at the club are convinced the 28-year-old, signed from Atletico Madrid for £38million in 2011, will be on his way at the end of the season.

Although Aguero is said to have agreed a one-year extension to his current contract with City months ago, no formal announcement has been made.
City will welcome £27million Brazil international striker Gabriel Jesus into the fold in January, with the young Palmeiras sensation set to rival the previously untouchable Aguero for his place.

And with the Blues still tracking Borussia Dortmund frontman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and monitoring France forward Antoine Griezmann’s situation at Atletico Madrid, the Argentine’s days could be numbered.

City skipper Vincent Kompany is also facing the prospect of being offloaded next summer, after being left out of Guardiola’s 18-man matchday squad to face Barca.

Defender Kompany, who has been blighted by injuries in recent seasons, was said to be fully fit and travelled to Catalonia but Guardiola chose not to involve the experienced 30-year-old.
City's England first-choice keeper Joe Hart is now on loan at Torino after failing to impress Guardiola, France midfielder Samir Nasri is on loan at Sevilla.

Former talisman Yaya Toure is still at the Etihad but has been effectively exiled, making his sole appearance so far this season back in August.

Identity of paragraph 2's "Blues insiders" who know so little the journo had to write "There is BELIEVED to be tension between the pair and fan hero Aguero" [sic]

      A) 2 random posters off a Man City fan site
      B) 2 other journos in the press box who made it up
      C) 2 figments of the journo's imagination

There is nothing here that we couldn't write.

Sorry got lost on the last thread:

Those with Theo and Sanchez, who are you captaining?

People keep saying Sanchez is "safer" which is a pretty meaningless term IMO. Theo seems more direct, in better form, played less minutes midweek, and has slightly better stats over the last 4.

I think with Aguero it is obvious.

Didn't come back 100% from internationals.
Was kept fit for Barca game in case he needed him.
Upon reflection bottled going all out against Barca so he changes it tactically.
Aguero is now fit for the weekend.

The only teams Pep would change to play 6 in midfield will be Barca and Bayern. His two old clubs, two clubs he respects because he probably thinks they are great mainly because of him (ego maniac).

If I was a journo I would report the same as above though 😉

Interesting take. I think the only club he would do it against would be Barcelona away due to their front three. I think it was also a product of where this city team is in their learning curve under pep abs he didn't think they were quite ready to take on a Barcelona team with those three up
