The ScoutCast – Episode 212 – Forearmed

And so it begins. This is our time – the period of the season where the hours of planning and strategising lay the foundations for big hauls to come.

Blanks and double Gameweeks are looming, and we’re clearing our heads in preparation to embrace the variables and manoeuvrings they present. We’re not sure if we’re going to be able to fully exploit them, but we’re certain that, should we fail, it won’t be for a lack of planning.

Guided by your questions, it all starts here, in this latest episode of the ScoutCast, where Jonty and Andy join me to pick through the early “known unknowns” and lay down the groundwork.

Elsewhere in the episode, we overcome Jonty’s “cow on the line” incident to embark on some formation dancing; considering the shift back to 3-4-3 and, once again, entertaining the idea of a big spend in defence.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Think I might just off Giroud to Kane this week rather than wait and look to do the same move next week.

Feel he's got a big haul in him and Giroud isn't guaranteed minutes.

      OK mate .
Do it and get yourself sorted and relax a little.
You are always posting about this .
The advice would be To hold for now but its your team you have the right to do whatever you want to do. Don't go on about this all time.

He's looked very good the last couple of weeks, Evertons fixtures are great, and theres a lot of ex-Hazard money slopping around. He's not the first choice option in midfield - but he's not the worst either.

This. He's passing the eye test and the stats test lately. He and Mirallas are both interesting picks given the lack of blanks and favorable fixtures.

The Scout article actually noted that Gueye's eventual return could limit Davies OR Mirallas' minutes.

Yep. I'm leaning toward Barkley if he looks good this week.

2FT on the cards and will do Pogba to Barkley and either Ibra to Aguero or Ake to Brunt.

Should be interesting having Ross 🙂

Siggy is the conservative pick. Barkley is the punty pick.

Depends a bit on the rest of your team - both are decent options.

Is anyone aware of a colour coded fixture ticker that can be copied and pasted (into an Excel) spreadsheet? It use to be possible with the FFS ticker - but not anymore.

It would be might handy to help me plan for coming blanks and DGWs.

So, with Snodgrass moving to West Ham what are people planning to do?
I think with Payet not playing he'll definitely have spot kick/corner duties. Also, he's a direct free kick specialist...

He has been moving from West Ham to Burnley to MID to Burnley to West Ham since last couple of days, not sure where he will end up 😛

Not a bad pick at that price imo, they have some players who are good in air, so assists will come every now and then

Silva has confirmed he's moving to West Ham.
And yes, that's my thinking too, that with Carroll in good form, he's likely to get assists if played regularly...

He's worth monitoring, but Noble should retain pens, and Antonio and Carroll still feel like safer picks if you want to go with a Hammer.

I think WHAM pursued him because of Payet uncertainty and he can be a like to like replacement. Maybe not on pens straightaway but dead balls, I think yeah...

Torn between KdB and Erikssen as Hazard replacement. Abstracting from the GW26 blank for KdB, just looking at the next 3 fixtures who is likely to score more Points?

I have 2 mn itb so the price difference won't affect my other transfer decisions.

Spurs have good fixtures coming up, also, Eriksen in decent form...

Its hard to look past Spurs attacking options at the moment - but if you already had 2 or 3 of Kane, Alli and Rose/ Walker, then KdB would be a decent shout.

      1. athreya
        • 12 Years
        7 years, 4 months ago

I only have Alli and might get in Kane by GW26. It looks to me Erik is the safer pick and KdB is a bit of a punt. What is not clear is if there is enough upside in KdB. Would have been a easy decision if he took pens.

You might be overthinking it (...or in denial as an Arsenal supporter 😉 ) - Spurs look really good at the moment. I think you probably should just go with Eriksen. Im sure you'll find a way to put the money saved to good use.

Same situation and I'm going KDB over Eriksen, reason being I have Alli and Rose, triple Spurs looks good when they hammer a team but all teams can have an off day then it's too much coverage.

Secondly, KDB is 7% owned at the moment, next week in GW24 there are no real standout captain options, Chelsea play Arsenal and Ibra is away at Leicester (United haven't been good of late) and Spurs play a defensively sound Boro, meanwhile City are H to Swansea, you have to fancy them in that, they looked very good against Spurs and a run is coming.

If you check his history this season he's been ultra consistent, returns most weeks but he's slipping under the radar because most have been on Hazard or Sanchez and he's been the odd one out, he had a few blanks recently but scored a goal and assist last week so you have to fancy him to go on a run with West Ham, Swansea and Bournemouth in the next 3, he's the sort that has clusters of hauls together.

If you feel good about him, go for it, if you asked people about Alli a few weeks before his hauls many would have told you he's overpriced, 3 braces in a row later and everyone knew how good he was and he's 'essential'

City have an amazing run coming up, even with the blank their fixtures are getting overlooked, their performance against Spurs showed they are about to turn a corner and if the ref did his job they would have had a very good win and everyone would be showing them more interest.

Good luck, I'm with you 🙂

GW 28 gonna be mad 😀
just did a little Draw and Predictions of my own and looks like

    These will Surely be off

    Arsenal - Leicester (Likely)
One of Spurs - Palace / Man United-Soutampton(Likely)
    Liverpool - Burnley (Likely)
    Chelsea - Watford (Most Likely)
    Hull - Swansea (Maybe)
    Manchester City - Stoke (Likely)
    Boro - Sunderland (Maybe)

Although all could go downhill if Some teams beat the obvious ones 😛 and we have a good lineup for 28 but that seems little likely atm.

Fa Cup Round 4 and Round 5 before that so yes they will still have a chance to play in GW 28. But we will have a little idea on who will be blanking After Round 4 results and 5 the round draw like if Spurs- Palace draws themself that means their GW28 tie will surely be off as one of them will advance to GW28 for sure then. looks unlikely though as palace have city but Spurs could still reach 6th round which means automatic palace blank.

Cheers, thought whoever wins is this round have a blank locked as I was unaware of 5th round.

Looking at cup fixtures, dont think we will have more than 3-4 games in that GW unless there are some major upsets 😛

yes thats the way it look like.
The things is with those blanks we will have good amount of DBGws atleast if everything goes to plan to look forward to but will miss action in GW28 by the looks of things. Also the 5round draw could throw spanner in works .

If robert snodgrass does join west ham as expected, would it be positive or negative for him in terms of his FPL value?

Obviously West ham is a much better team but then I guess he will not be able to take over any set pieces and penalty duties away from current players? Where will he fit btw. Any west ham fans that can kindly enlighten me? Really kind of interested in him because of his price.

Morning Deadzoners, can I have some opinions please on Stanislas V Ryan Fraser?

I want a Bournemouth midfielder for this week at home to Palace and to help with the blanks at 26 and 28, he'll be sat on the bench in between.

Do you think Stanislas is the way to go (being their obvious pick) or is Fraser good enough when you consider he'll be bench fodder most weeks?

Both score points when they play, just seeing what people thought of both, both come with risks so that's on my mind, Fraser is just breaking into the team so can lose his place after a couple of bad results while Stanislas has got niggling injuries every now and then.

Any thoughts would be welcomed. 🙂

I'm a little iffy about both. Howe likes to rotate and Stanislas has a poor injury record. I'd still go Stanislas because of set-pieces and probably pens.

I went with Fraser due to budget constraints but there is a lot to like. He's got energy when he plays and that high tempo does get him into good positions. If you want to save coin on a 5th mid he's a good option

Hard to say. Ran em through player comp in member. Stanislas clear winner there, but have also played more mins (1082 vs 669). Would check it out more if u have access. Personaly I would go stanislas, but dont know much about Bournmouth and who is more nailed on etc.. maybe some Bournmouth fans can shed some light on the matter?

Thanks mate, I just went Fraser, couldn't justify the extra .5 when I'm only looking to play him against Palace H, West Brom (26) and West Ham (28) the extra .5 saving buys me time so I don't have to rush my future moves and felt that was more important for such a minor position in my squad.

Find him quite exciting to watch and he's got the potential to explode so fingers crossed, being only 2% owned also appeals, if he hauls in GW28 when so many players will be out then it should mean something.

Who is the best midfielder to own outside of Alli/Alexis?

        Eriksen

I could be biased though as he is one of my Favourite and I have him for many weeks.

Firmino /Coutinho/Walcott coud soon be good again.
