The Stock Check – Gameweek 24 – Sunday

Gabriel Jesus is in the goals again as Sergio Aguero gets accustomed to life on the Manchester City bench. Gylfi Sigurdsson’s renaissance under Paul Clement continues, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan delivers his biggest haul of the season as both Manchester clubs impress ahead of their looming blank Gameweek.

Gabriel Jesus
Retaining his role as City’s central forward at home to Swansea City, the Brazilian required just over 10 minutes to find the net once again.

Subject to more acquisitions than any other Fantasy Premier League asset ahead of Gameweek 24 after his midweek goal and assist at West Ham, Jesus also went on to grab a late winner in another superb showing. He’s now set for a collision with a Bournemouth defence that’s just been hit for six at Goodison Park.

Already, over 48,000 FPL managers have swooped for the Samba starlet since yesterday’s deadline, yet a blank Gameweek 26 and another likely in Gameweek 28 will surely slow the bandwagon, despite a favourable trip to Sunderland sandwiched between those fixtures.

Nonetheless, Guardiola’s teamsheet certainly indicated that the new arrival has barged his way into the first XI, ensuring there will be huge interest in his services once the double Gameweeks scheduled.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan
A goal and assist at the King Power Stadium helped the Armenian to a first double-figure haul of the season as his influence on United’s attack continues to grow.

After drawing blanks in his first six appearances over the opening 14 Gameweeks, Mkhitaryan now has three goals and an assist in his subsequent eight league outings.

Similar to Manchester City, though, United’s lack of a Gameweek 26 fixture, allied with the fact that they would also miss Gameweek 28 if they progress to the FA Cup quarter-finals, quashes their immediate appeal.

With a mere 2% FPL ownership, Mkhitaryan is clearly shaping up as an enticing differential option for our five-man midfields once those blanks have been navigated.

Antonio Valencia
The right-back is another who’ll surely find his way into many managers’ plans once the double Gameweeks are confirmed.

After failing to produce any attacking returns in the opening 20 rounds of fixtures, Valencia has since supplied an assist in two of the last four Gameweeks.

With Jose Mourinho shuffling his options elsewhere in defence, the Ecuadorian appears to be the most secure route into a rearguard that has now served up three clean sheets in the last five, conceding just two goals over that spell.

Gylfi Sigurdsson
Swansea’s playmaker goes from strength to strength under new manager Paul Clement.

Bagging the consolation in today’s narrow loss at City, Sigurdsson has now racked up three goals and two assists in the five matches since Bob Bradley departed the Liberty Stadium.

That resurgent form has helped him climb into fifth spot in the FPL midfield standings as the Welsh side prepare for a superb run of upcoming fixtures.

Clashes with Leicester City, Burnley, Hull City, Bournemouth and Middlesbrough in the next six, added to the fact that Swansea are one of only six clubs currently set to play in both Gameweek 26 and 28, have already brought plenty of new owners Sigurdsson’s way.

Among FPL midfielders, only Chelsea’s Eden Hazard has earned more transfers since the passing of yesterday’s deadline.

Luciano Narsingh
The Swansea new boy came off the bench to impress once again, strengthening his claim for a starting role at home to Leicester next time out.

Utilised as a late substitute for the second successive Gameweek, Narsingh has now provided assists in both his appearances for the to suggest there is more than just Sigurdsson to consider among Clement’s charges.

If he can cement a role in the first XI next weekend, a price of 5.5 may well turn a few heads as we look for budget-friendly methods to navigate the tricky fixture schedule.

In Decline

Sergio Aguero
After benching him against West Ham, Pep Guardiola was quick to point out that the Argentine could easily play alongside Gabriel Jesus in his front three.

With a home clash against Swansea up next, the vast majority of Aguero’s 19% FPL owners subsequently kept the faith – he was subject to just 39,450 sales ahead of Gameweek 24.

Yet Pep named Aguero among the substitutes once again, affording him just a handful of minutes off the bench as City went chasing a late winner.

Priced at 12.8 and without a fixture in Gameweek 26, the Aguero exodus is well and truly up and running as Jesus’ impact puts pay to his “essential” tag once and for all.

    Last 3 : LIV v TOT

    1-1 (G: Rose, Milner / A: Lamela, Firmino)
    1-1 (G: Kane, Coutinho / A: Eriksen, Sturridge)
    0-0

Quite dry. Btw, LEI won all the last 3 against Swansea. They scored 9 and conceded just 1 goal.

History cannot predict future though. G & A from Alli & Erik would be nice.

Over GW28, the double GWs and with WC/chips strategies; how many points would you expect hardcore players (us lot) to gain on the casual player from now until the end of the season?

Did people gain a lot of points on their 'casual ML rivals' from March to May last season with our 'extra dedication' to planning for fixtures etc? (I'm mainly asking as I'm lagging in mine this season)

    1. 42towels
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member
      • 9 Years
      7 years, 4 months ago

I'm guessing 15-20 points around the blank weeks.

Combining the 2 DGWs, and depending on how casual your ML is, can make up 50-75 points then.

      • 8 Years

Depends what happens. Last year the SGW players from Spurs got DGWesque scores to mitigate the chips' effectiveness. But still triple capping Sanchez got a huge increase. Difficult to give a point value.

in my transfer plan, i have 11 players playing on GW 26 but only have 7 players playing on GW 28

    Jakupovic (Heaton)
    Brunt Coleman (Alonso Love Lenihan)
    Barkley Siggy Philips (Hazard Alli)
    Lukaku (Costa Ibra)

I think it's worth a little wait. If nothing important e.g. Injury / ban arise, I will definitely wait for FA Cup results and draw for 6th round before making any transfer.

Your team is decent. No Lukaku was the killer.

The guy who is on the top has been there forever but the second guy is catching up with him recently. Any good differential option which will help me make up some lost ground?

Oh yes. And I don't think they know about the blank gameweeks either. I have to do something in the blank gameweeks.

So I have been floating around just outside top 10k for quite a while (since GW19 I have been floating between 10k and 20k) and I just can't seem to break the top 10k.

So I need some help from the bright minds of DZ. What would you do with this team to get to top 10k?

    Heaton Pickford
    Alonso McAuley Brunt Yoshida Amat
    Sanchez Alli Eriksen Phillips Capoue
    Zlatan Costa Defoe

    1 FT, 1.5 itb

    Thinking Eriksen out for Siggy?

I like it. Did the same move myself but I had Kane as well so the triple up felt a bit much.

Alli has the higher ceiling and greater goal threat so I'd hold him over Erik.

Cheers IWR. Yeah I fancy Alli over Eriksen too

I'm also contemplating that same move. But with the Siggy rise tonight, I got all week to think about it.

Yeah same. I'll probably make the move but just wanting to see if any other options come up that I might not have thought about.

Key decision coming next gameweek. What to do with Sanchez/Ibra come gw26?

      A) Sell one for Chelsea attacker
      B) Sell both for Chelsea attackers
      C) Sell one for lesser explosive player that also plays in gw28
      D) Sell both for lesser explosive players that also play gw28

As Chelsea have (SWA) that week it makes it a tough call. I'm currently on Sanchez to Haz and keeping Ibra because of gw27 (BOU) and two doubles to come but then there's always the fear of Costa going mad that week.

Thinking I'll move whichever one is dropping faster for Haz/Costa.

      Morning DZ,

With only 7 likely starters in GW26 (1 being Capoue) and 3 in GW28 I'm fairly set on wildcarding next week. With that in mind what transfer would you make this week?

      A) Eriksen -> Siggy/Wally
      B) Benteke -> Defoe
      C) Stones -> 5.2m
      D) Eriksen & Benteke -> Siggy/Wally & Jesus (-4)

      Cech
      Valencia, Coleman, Stones
      Sanchez, Eriksen, Alli, Sterling
      Ibra, Benteke, Carroll

      Pickford, Nyom, Capoue, Amat
      Bank 0.5m, 1FT

D looks good but not sure if I would get rid of Eriksen over Alli

Alli is normally better in away games right?

Just seen Benteke had the most shots on goal this week. He's due! 😉
